What do you think this is Generation 7? Arguing about specs got us nowhere last time

Also, Kinect, better controller, and better and more original exclusives.

Hah that picture was on my End-of-year exam.
User avatar #37 to #22 - MasterManiac (06/20/2013) [-]
1) $100 for basically the same specs (yes, the PS4 has slightly better specs but in reality the difference in output between the two systems will be negligible) and the Kinect bundled with it, as well as basically being a digibox which usually costs about $100 in itself. You may pay more, but you are certainly getting more for your money.

2) Had Sony announced that they would also introduce DRM Microsoft wouldn't have had to change their policies. As Steam has shown on PC, the future of gaming is in digital rather than hard copies, and both companies will choose to adopt DRM at some stage in the future. Personally I think this is a step back for the gaming industry, but the general public wanted hard copies and Microsoft finally delivered. It was certainly not their plan to do a U-turn on their own policy, just changed it due to public opinion.
#397 to #37 - anon (06/21/2013) [-]
No one bitches about steam not letting you trade games as they are not hard copies because the games are ******* cheap... If xbox one games were 20$ each, no one would give a **** , but they're $60 each when they are released..
#418 to #397 - anon (06/21/2013) [-]
you everyone wants all their games downloaded. I would much prefer to be able to sell/buy 2nd hand pc games than have to download them tied to my account.

thats the whole ******* point asshat they wanted to drop first day prices significantly through digital distribution and getting used sales money to devs instead of retailers. do your ******* research

Had Sony announced the same policies, the gaming community would have told them to go **** themselves as well. Steam represents the minority of gamers. It makes sense for PC gamers to use digital copies and have DRM because if you spend $1,000+ on a gaming PC, you clearly have a good internet connection, otherwise you're just stupid. Changing an entire industry based on the minority is ******* retarded, plain and simple.

#523 to #513 - awesomenessdefined (06/21/2013) [-]
Wow, here you are being a ******* moron, and you have the audacity to question me. They changed the DRM because that tiny population wanted to play every ******* day, in other countries where they weren't smart enough to crack the thing, along with that tiny population stuck in 1994 that didn't have even ******* dialup once a day.

Loud ass faggots such as yourself that like to hypothesise situations that will never happen are the reason this console generation has been halted five ******* years.

Idiots who don't know they're idiots, I swear
#524 to #523 - dragoonwarrior (06/21/2013) [-]
I guess I'm one of those crazy people who want to play games every day on a device that costs $500, even if my Wi-Fi goes down(which happens all the time for a lot of people, you dumb faggot). How many successful corporations do you know that make massive decisions about their products for a small group of people? See majority means the larger group of people, you would know that if you passed grade 3 math. More people thought the Xbox One was the biggest piece of **** they've ever seen, much like yourself, THAT'S why they changed it. If only we could do the same to cock smokers like you. Maybe someday. Here's an idea, stand up straight, pull up your pants, and stop being a little ass bitch for every shiny new toy that rears it ugly ******* head. What Microsoft was doing was a disgrace to the gamers who bought the first Xbox and stuck by them from the beginning, making Xbox as successful as it was. I now realize the helmet you wear isn't because you're the biggest retard the planet has ever known, but because you're a completely ******* brain dead vegetable, prone to muscle spasms which make you type the most incoherent ramblings the internet has ever seen.
User avatar #525 to #524 - awesomenessdefined (06/21/2013) [-]
Yup because it needs to be connected all time, not just once every 24 hours. YOu are completely right.

And Microsoft made this decision for a small group of people because they convinced people that generally would have liked the Xbox to ******* boycott it because 'hurr it restricts my freedom like steam'.

If you'd take that cock out of your eyes you'd see that people who weren't under developed ass hats such as yourself, loved the idea of the Xbox One. They made a product that was the future, not some **** that the idiot consumer that hiveminds like a ******* mindless ******* , before they see the ******* forests for the trees. No, they don't want ******* innovation they want to dwell in their cum-stained basements arguming with their brain-dead friends about 'muh specs'.

'Durrr but the PS4 was outselling it on Fagazon'. Because loud assholes decided to ******* make a non-issue a problem and sacrifice the future. That's why Microsoft took it away. Not because they cared what you faggots think is infringing on your worthless non-existent rights, but because somehow you managed to convince yourselves and others that a one time phone home was a big enough issue that it deserved to be trapped.

Don't even bother considering any other option, I think you might blow a fuse and start swearing in your seat.

Cum munchers like you should realy only talk to a mirror because I doubt anyone who wasn't missing half their ******* frontal lobe would ever stand their.

No, keep your ****** Generation 7 model, you asshats. See if selling your ******* games for $7 to Gamestop makes you happy.

PS4 is estimated to be 50% more powerful. They have the same architecture, meaning the playstation won't be a piece of **** to code for anymore, also meaning the extra power will make a difference this gen.

It's still inexcusable to charge more for a less powerful device.
#302 to #152 - anon (06/21/2013) [-]
Eh, the PS4 is not really that much powerful, despite what Playstation would have you think. Yeah, the PS4 has better RAM, but the differences are small, even the highest end games like Killzone shadow only need about 3GB. It has much more memory than the system can practically take advantage of. As far as the PS4 putting out 1.8 TFlops compared to 1.23? Don't hold your breath. Lets not forgot the PS3 was rated at 1.8 TFlops as well, and that was never even close to a real world number.
#533 to #302 - jinkazama (06/22/2013) [-]
And lets not forget the ps3s **** architecture that made it hell to code for. I.E. Very few devs used its extra power. Naughty dog for example did. Uncharted and the last of us outshine any 360 game by a longshot.

But this gen the architecture is similar to a PC, removing that problem.

As much as I agree that digital downloads are the norm and standard for pc gaming, console gaming does have a different niche.
I don't know anyone (in my circles) that has 4 mouses and keyboards and plays split screen on their pc's with their friends. As similar as the markets are, when it comes to this specific area they differ. Everyone (in my circles, again) has memories of going over to their friends house. One person had Perfect Dark and the other had GoldenEye and we could play both. I know I was afraid of losing that sort of low-tech sharing.
User avatar #349 to #341 - MasterManiac (06/21/2013) [-]
That was the whole point of the now scrapped "sharing" feature. You and 10 of your friends could enjoy your Xbox One game collection from anywhere using anyone's account without the need for any discs. Even without it you could just sign in on another console and bam, your entire game collection is available to you instantly. Tbh it's a shame they scrapped the idea.
#421 to #349 - anon (06/21/2013) [-]
you would also need to redownload the game. take up space on their harddrive just to install a game they cant use on their account.

After the **** pulled with microsoft and DRM, there's no way any company will get away with having commercials in their games and sony never really spent much time on it being an "entertainment console." Sure the features are there, but they aren't focusing on it. They spent like 15 minuites on it between both E3 and the PS4 reveal. Sony was all about the games.

I got tired of this **** . The PC is **** unless you have money. You don't have enough money, your PC is **** . You gotta upgrade it. Games evolve, so as the PC, and that costs a ton of money. Money unless you have it, you can go **** yourself with the PC. The people that either aren't from the USA or can't afford to throw money to the screen while they scream "I want that PC" buy consoles. They aren't as expensive, they last for years, and they awesome. They might not do everything, but they let you run those games you can't in your crappy PC. So stop this **** , because the PC is for the rich, either in country or personally.

Xbox One: $500 w/ 250gb HDD + Kinect
PS4: $400 w/ 250gb HDD
Let's keep in mind 250Gb will barely hold a yearsworth of games, assuming you are an avid gamer. More packages will be out which will range from a $50-100 bonus in the price.

Built my PC a year ago with a one TB HDD cost $600.
Still plays all my games, including Skyrim with tons of mods on Ultra high at 50-60fps.(Don't have Crysis 3 yet and no, probably not. Not on Ultra.)
PC offers a larger variety of exclusives, and other things like emulators.

PCs do require upgrading parts but it shouldn't be forgotten that a console will come out with a new version almost every 2-3 years and if you decide to keep the first one it will overheat and probably explode later down the road.

And also while it is true that PC requires upgrading every 2-3 years I enjoy it more to be able to know my PC and customize it fully to my liking.

User avatar #435 to #414 - folkflunky (06/21/2013) [-]
Yeah, but you'll have to waste more money to upgrade it later. If you buy either a PS4 or a Xbox One you'll not have to upgrade it for serveral years. Sorry, but PC is still for rich.
User avatar #450 to #435 - YllekNayr (06/21/2013) [-]
Not true. You can upgrade existing computers, but if you drop that kind of change on it to begin with, it will hold up for at least 8 years, at which point you can upgrade a PART of it, like a graphic card or add more RAM, for a quarter of the cost of the next gen of consoles.
User avatar #462 to #450 - folkflunky (06/21/2013) [-]
My PC is a Dual Core Core2Duo 2.4 GHz with a GeForce 210 1GB and 4GB RAM. From the day I bought it, until today, I could've bought 2 Xbox 360 (at least in my country) with the money I invested on it. I know you can pay per part to upgrade it, but at large you'll use more money in the PC than in buying the console, money that you could've used in games or something else.
User avatar #507 to #462 - YllekNayr (06/21/2013) [-]
You won't need to spend any on the next console to keep up. Your PC will do fine vs Xbox1 and PS4

>All these people forgetting about corporate loopholes
>All these people thinking that Sony is going to be such darling little angels
>All these people forgetting Sony's cheaped out networking security which lead to hacking issues
>All these people not realizing they could have that again just from the cut of that $100

Tall order of "I seriously" with a large Diet "hope you" drink and a "guys don't" milk shake.

Would you like some "do this" with that?

how was it cheaped out when it took a bot net of 500k computers all doing heavy ddos at once in order to get in ?

Information of the users wasn't encrypted.
Passwords weren't even encrypted; they had a cryptographic hash function, which is an algorithm that can be cracked, easily more so if someone sees your information and finds the password based off of that.
If you can't get a proper encryption to work all the information, that's pretty cheap.

They were also hacked again prior to that through an SQL injection that allowed the hackers access to personal information that was even less secured, though not through Playstation Network, as it was through SonyPictures.

SAME FOR EVERY OTHER DAMN COMPANY they do not give a **** about us they will sell our info to the highest ******* bidder and not think twice you just trying to slam on sony for having the same security as the rest

Dude, I'm not supporting either company. I'm posting this because I'm tired of seeing people rushing to support companies that have made a string of errors and abuses in the past and WILL continue to make errors in the future.

i dont support neither but i notice how you fail to mention the SAME THING HAPPEND TO MICROSOFT IN 2008 and the guy who did got thumbed down
User avatar #437 to #432 - akkere (06/21/2013) [-]
Didn't know much about it. Most I know about the hacking was that it was from an executive, although looking up now that was actually in 2013.

their was a xboxlive hacking in 2008 the recent one is something else also key thing microsoft tried sweeping the hacking under the rug. atleast sony said he something got ****** and where fixing it and even gave out 2 free games and 1-3 months per psn user in other words sony LOST alot of cash

Xbox had the same damn thing as sony one time

in 2008 they were hacked, on a much lower scale, but it happened.
User avatar #433 to #420 - akkere (06/21/2013) [-]
Don't know why people thumbed you down; that's a valid point. A security compromise is a security compromise, and especially problematic for Xbox Live which gets revenue that should be going to their security.

Wasn't the hacking for an executive though?
User avatar #434 to #433 - shootemupforus (06/21/2013) [-]
i don't remember

and it's probably xbox 360 fanboys who act like it never happened

but i know it did, i witnessed it when i was on that day.
User avatar #438 to #434 - akkere (06/21/2013) [-]
Oh, I just looked it up and the hacking of the executive was more recent, so that's why I got confused.

Either way, I didn't post this to praise Microsoft or Sony, I'm just tired of fanboys from either side rushing to protect each other through bandwagons.

Well

companies make mistakes

That's how they learn

eventually they'll have learned not to have low security

And that will end up causing them to be better companies

the 2008 hacking was done by that geohot guy
