r/atheism was most likely it. Everyone would post really edgy **** , thank God /u/jij removed memes from there.
User avatar #136 to #84 - sonicschall (06/19/2013) [-]
So many people complaining about the new mod of r/atheism.

It's better without all those memes.
User avatar #154 to #136 - teoberry (06/19/2013) [-]
Trust me, I'm not complaining. I hate that place. r/debatereligion or r/trueatheism is better
User avatar #168 to #154 - sonicschall (06/19/2013) [-]
I know you aren't complaining. I myself said that the new mod of r/atheism is good.

r/atheism was always **** anyway.
User avatar #171 to #168 - teoberry (06/19/2013) [-]
Yeah, it's so stupid. Conquering religion one snark meme at a time!

Indeed.

what the flying **** is edgy supposed to mean nowadays?
#74 to #10 - flylikefluttershy (06/19/2013) [-]
I live in northern alabama, where the only thing that outnumbers religious facilities is fast food places.

I'm kidding, but the number is pretty close
Pic related, it's how edgy I feel being an atheist here.

I can't tell if this is serious, but if it is, welcome to the Internet. You've got a lot to learn, kid.
User avatar #53 to #17 - cabbagemayhem (06/19/2013) [-]
So do you, if you think the atheist content you magnate to is "the internet".
#76 to #2 - anon (06/19/2013) [-]
We hate religion not because people are different, but because all religious people are dumbasses and its unbelievable that people in the modern world still believe in this crap.
User avatar #3 to #2 - lodisboeg (06/18/2013) [-]
Why not hate on religion, it's easy, plenty to make fun of, and pretty entertaining.
Besides, religion has been of-limits for thousands of years, so I guess it's about time?
#4 to #3 - penguinsdoingit (06/18/2013) [-]
Criticise, fine. There's plenty of valid arguments against religion, but to blindly hate and make fun of without seeing its advantages is childish and ignorant.
User avatar #5 to #4 - lodisboeg (06/18/2013) [-]
Why should I respect peoples weird ideas? Im sure people who join cults see advantages there as well. Hell, I might see some advantages to joing a cult. That, however, does not mean that I think its a good idea.
#6 to #5 - penguinsdoingit (06/18/2013) [-]
You don't have to think it's a good idea to respect it.

Respecting it is simply saying: "Ok, it's not for me and I don't believe in it, but I realise why people would believe in it and devote themselves to it"
User avatar #7 to #6 - lodisboeg (06/18/2013) [-]
Well, then they'd have to convince me why I should respect it. Which is what most (read: none that ive met) religious people can't do, since they are so used to just GETTING respect without any reason.
User avatar #9 to #7 - thepyras (06/19/2013) [-]
If you choose not to respect someone, they will not respect you, as you give them no reason to.
#37 to #9 - baconfattie (06/19/2013) [-]
I see often christians are the baby boys of the earth where they cannot be insulted, not respected, dissagreed with, or NOTHING.

Just say something they dont 100% like and YOU'RE SO OFFENSIVE RESPECT MY BELIEF YOU'RE BUTTHURT ATHEIST etc etc.

Just ******* take it like a man and don't give a **** . People every single day say or do things that I don't like. I accept that life is like that, and move on.
******* bubble boys.

The red thumbs I will get is proof of it.
User avatar #48 to #37 - cabbagemayhem (06/19/2013) [-]
They cannot be insulted and disrespected without taking offense? Absurd!
Actually, that reminds of a lot of Christians who are exactly the opposite.

You do make a point, though: I, too, find that non-christian groups are more rude to each other, while christian groups are more respectful. I might be more easily offended, too, if I thought everyone meant what they said.
User avatar #78 to #37 - zzforrest (06/19/2013) [-]
I'm not religious, but I have been before. Religious people aren't immature, or "little boys", but rather, there are immature people who are in religion, and people like you allow those immature idiots to represent an entire population. I have seen many christians who are many times more tolerant than most atheists. The red thumb you got from me is not because I'm an immature christian, it's because I am a mature human being that feels that you are acting immature.

What I was implying is that I've encountered many like this.

Not all, luckily. I live in a very catholic country so I can encounter many, but I also encounter many great christian, but this is unrelated to religion

If one gives an opinion, the one with the opposite opinion can also speak, no one has to "respect" anyone. Respect doesn't mean accept it.
User avatar #77 to #5 - zzforrest (06/19/2013) [-]
As somebody who has been involved in cults before:
There is nothing to be gained from it.
It's bad. Very bad.
User avatar #47 to #2 - beerterror (06/19/2013) [-]
The main point is, these people ain't criticizing, as you put it in one post below, they're hating, with idiotic "arguments" which is most annoying.

Omg I know right. Apparently respect for religion is a sore spot.
User avatar #58 to #2 - squidgy (06/19/2013) [-]
How come when somebody points a lighthearted witticism at Christianity they're labeled as 'hating' and everyone acts as if they're opening an exciting new line of orphan-based meat products, and yet everyone here's perfectly content to nail the everloving **** out of Scientology or Mormonism or whatever?

Faith is faith; to Scientologists, I'm sure Scientology is just as true as Christianity is to Christians. Whether you believe it's right or not; you can't say one group has 'special protection' from parody and then deny it to others because they're one of the internet's designated punchbags.

Tl;dr: Make fun of everyone or no-one. Christianity shouldn't get a nice shiny suit of ablative parody-armour.

User avatar #86 to #58 - Bad Man (06/19/2013) [-]
I'm not sure how long you've been under a rock, but that's not at all how things are on Funnyjunk, or even real life. More often than not we get posts bashing religion when atheists are the only ones complaining.
#132 to #86 - anon (06/19/2013) [-]
are you an idiot? how are religion bashing posts more numerous than those things?
User avatar #133 to #132 - Bad Man (06/19/2013) [-]
Are you? In case you haven't noticed, the vast majority of FJ is atheist, and we get posts bashing Christianity and other religions, and other deprecating asshattery that nonbelievers come up with. The ones who most commonly get thumbed down are the ones who actually stand up for their beliefs.
User avatar #183 to #133 - squidgy (06/19/2013) [-]
Which is fascinating, considering that the top comment on every atheist post is invariably someone whining about religion-bashing or anti-theism, and pro-atheist comments inevitably get downvoted into oblivion. I'm not sure you're quite the oppressed minority you seem to think you are.

Now I will sit patiently and await my red thumbs of doom and spaghetti.
User avatar #184 to #183 - Bad Man (06/19/2013) [-]
Not as fascinating when considering that the atheist post itself is popular enough to have a comment going against it being so popular in the first place.
User avatar #186 to #184 - squidgy (06/19/2013) [-]
Fair point, although people gravitate towards the content that attracts them; Ponytime gets about as much front-page stuff as atheism, but I wouldn't say the majority of Funnyjunkers are bronies. Focused minorities can have the same effect as majorities.

I want to have a guy dressed up like Jesus in my house, so when missionaries come to my house and say "Have you found Jesus?", I can say "Yeah, hold on a sec...HEY JESUS, THERE'S SOME PEOPLE LOOKING FOR YOU", and then he comes out to the doorway all sleepy and with a cup of coffee..."mmmhhm yeah what is it?"

The look on their faces...
