multiple reasons it could be a specific mate, it could be a fork.... umm that's about it they're very specific instances but they still occur from time to time. Someone told me once that you could actually change the pawn into a bishop or a rook but that seems like the most pointless thing in the world.

Sometimes if you change to a queen it creates a stalemate. By changing to a rook, which is worth more points than a knight/bishop, you avoid stalemate while gaining a more valuable piece.

Arabs who basicly created the rules call it elephant, so does Persians who created it.
So pretty much it's meant to be elephant, but euros thaught an elephant is odd since they never ued them in wars Not sure about this

I was actually making a reference to battlefield 3, in which the repair tool is a propane blowtorch quite like the one depicted in your image. I based the comment off of the kill messages given whenever one gets a kill on an enemy player.
