I just glanced at your picture without enlarging it and briefly thought the Sorting Hat was Oogie Boogie.

The sorting hat was created by beheading Oogie Boogie. Didn't you watch Harry Potter Origins: The Nightmare After Christmas?

I have but I forgot about it. It saddened m so much that the killed the Clown-With-The-Tear-Away face just so they can torment his spirit and create Peeves.

Hufflepuffs are the stoners of Hogwarts.

They major in Herbology and live right next to the kitchen.
User avatar #22 to #13 - hudis (06/18/2013) [-]
Well, no, because they're at school doing something useful with their lives.

Before i make my next statement I would like to add that I don't smoke, nor am i supportive of it.

But I know multiple doctorate holders who smoke pot as well as my own sister who is studying orthoscopic surgery.
User avatar #25 to #23 - hudis (06/18/2013) [-]
Personally I do smoke pot at times, rarely by my own initiative but more as a social thing. I'm referring to the stoner culture, not pot-smokers in general.
#31 to #25 - anon (06/18/2013) [-]
Pot smokers are the stoner culture. People are a large part of any culture, after all.

That doesn't help your last statement?!?!

Also, their common room is practically a hobbit hole, and their sigil is a badger. A badger is not far from being a honey badger. Let's picture it as a honey badger, and suddenly Hufflepuff is the best dahm house.

At Hogwarts, you can either be a super cool guy, a huge nerd, a racist.... or Hufflepuff.

there isn't some racist requirement to be a slytherin- see how harry almost became one?
or a nerd to be ravenclaw- just smart and super attractive. aside from that one girl

One thing I've always wondered: Don't you also think it was really discriminating to send the Slytherins out in the last movie? Maybe some of them actually wanted to help?
User avatar #88 to #55 - idkijustdo (06/18/2013) [-]
I'm not too sure but if I'm not mistaken, in the book, the only one who supposed can stay and help is the 7th year only. The rest are to be evacuate. Some lower years did sneak back and help (like Colin Creevey). And the rest of 7th year's Slytherin are to be send out when Pansy Parkinson shouted "THERE'S POTTER. SOMEONE GRAB HIM!" when Voldemort announced when all of them are at the hall that anyone who help capturing Potter will be rewarded. No one did. In fact everyone (beside Slytherin) stand up and face toward Pansy Parkinson. Then Professor McGonagall said "Thank you Miss Parkinson. You'll be the first person to be escorted out along with your fellow Slytherin." Something along the lines.

tl;dr Maybe the Slytherin are to be send out in case any of them tried to do anything funny (Like Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle.

I figure either the school system is seriously ****** up and discriminates arbitrarily against a quarter of the school, or a quarter of the wizarding world is legitimately evil. Either way, it's pretty dark.
User avatar #69 to #55 - neutralgray (06/18/2013) [-]
I thought so, too. Seemed ****** up to send the entire house to the dungeon because of generalizing.

Speaking of Hufflepuff, when the Deathly Hallows came out me and my sister went to the midnight release of it over by our local walmart. There was a long ass line for the book and there was a strange gimmick going on that if you had a bracelet of any of the four houses that were being passed from person to person in the line you could cut to the front and get the book faster. Anyway my sister and I were waiting in the line nearly 10 minutes or so when a kind old woman walked up to us and gave us a bracelet to go on ahead. It was a Hufflepuff bracelet. My sister and i were shocked and grateful to the lady and we proceeded to cut everyone else. After that day my sister's new favorite house became Hufflepuff.
TLDR: Hufflepuff helped us cheat people from getting their copy of deathly hallows before us.

Does that make Slytherins the Americans?
#2 to #1 - anon (06/17/2013) [-]
I'd say the Germans are more slytherin while the US in Gryffindor and the UK is Ravenclaw.
User avatar #10 to #2 - OddballAnon (06/17/2013) [-]
Americans: proud arrogant troublemakers who are not always all that intelligent these are all traits seen in most sytherin if anything i would say you have it backwards Germans fit Gryffindor better as a strong proud people

Oh, boy! Generalizations based on TV!
User avatar #30 to #29 - OddballAnon (06/18/2013) [-]
no not really I live close to the border and do cross border shopping a lot so its more a generalization based on experience
#17 to #10 - anon (06/18/2013) [-]
"proud arrogant troublemakers who are not always all that intelligent" Which is pretty much the textbook definition of a gryffindor.
User avatar #18 to #17 - OddballAnon (06/18/2013) [-]
point taken good sir and/or madam however Americans are also corrupt greedy rude and racist everything that is wrong with america fulfills the textbook definition of a Sytherin, not to say that there cant be good people mixed in with all the assholes its just and overall that stands out
User avatar #68 to #18 - sexwithyourwife (06/18/2013) [-]
The U.S is mostly tolerant of other races at least as much as any other country especially considering it's made up of a ton of different cultures.We're corrupt but I doubt you could show me a government that wasn't that's actually a challenge I'd like to be proven wrong on and in my personal experience is that Europeans are a lot ruder then Americans.
#19 to #18 - anon (06/18/2013) [-]
True, but houses in the harry potter world do tend to overlap on an individual basis, harry was more of a mix of slytherin, while hermione shared traits with ravenclaw, and ron shared with hufflepuff. I was more referring to the general image/stereotypes.
User avatar #21 to #19 - OddballAnon (06/18/2013) [-]
Indeed I was as well and the general over all stereotype of america seems much closer to that of a Sytherin than that of a Gryffindor
#3 to #2 - anon (06/17/2013) [-]
Yay! I'm a Brit!
User avatar #11 to #1 - postie (06/17/2013) [-]
I'd say.
America = Slytherin
Gemany = Ravenclaw
UK = Gryffindow
Canada = Hufflepuff

UK and Germany could be swapped round though.
