It was also told that men were raised slightly homosexual, so they would mourn over fallen warriors and fight even stronger after a comrade was fallen. I can't prove this but I've read it somewhere

I think it was so they would fight harder to sexually impress other men. That's hardcore fabulous.

I learned that from about age 12 boys were placed under tutelage of a veteran warrior with whom they had a homosexual relationship.

Tons of people were gay back then.
Spartans had no problem being gay.
Samurai had no problem being gay.
Pre-Christianity Celts had no problem with being gay.

Etc, etc.

I heard that they would usually be gay with each other so that when they fight in battle they are not only fighting for their comrades but also their lovers

Well Spartan men were notorious pedophiles.

But that actually has nothing to do with it. Ancient Greeks thought that being a badass meant you had to cry when someone died and be incredibly emotional, no wonder Spartans thought women were so badass.

they did it to show how much they honored their fellow warriors and how much they cared for their well-being, rather than the modern kind of warrior that just shrugs when he sees his friends and family die.

so yeah, Spartans were bad ass bros
