OH HO HOOOO it's funny because Jesus was killed by Jews!
User avatar #17 to #8 - ivoryhammer (06/17/2013) [-]
Wasn't he killed by romans?
#52 to #17 - anon (06/17/2013) [-]
At that time the Israel was under Roman control and the Jews believed that a messiah will come and free Israel.
Jesus was one of many people who thought they were this "messiah" he wasn't really special and there is no conclusive evidence that he "walked on water" or used any sort of "magic".
After all the Jews have suffered and after the lost of their freedom people expect them to fight for just another guy that thinks he is the messiah?
Of course later on the Romans kept pushing the Jews to the edge until they rebelled but they were brutality oppressed.
User avatar #40 to #17 - anonymoose (06/17/2013) [-]
The Jews made the Romans capture him and during his trial, Pontius Pilate's wife begged that Jesus not be killed but the Jews insisted and Pilate washed his hands to signify he was clean of Jesus's murder while the Jews shouted "His blood be on us and on our children."

that's some pretty serious hate you have there
User avatar #60 to #59 - anonymoose (06/17/2013) [-]
Where? I'm just stating what was recorded to have happened.
User avatar #41 to #40 - ivoryhammer (06/17/2013) [-]
I'm really curious how people know all these details that happened about 2000 years ago, but don't know what's going on in the world in current times.
User avatar #42 to #41 - anonymoose (06/17/2013) [-]
The details are probably off a bit except main features, but there are probably some records of such trials.

Don't quote me on this, I'm not a genius but if I'm right...

Jews believe Jesus was a preacher, and enthusiastic one, but nothing more.

Christians and every spawn on them believe Jesus was God in human form.

And Islamics believe Jesus was a powerful Prophet.

So, everyone (Extraction) was a jew before AD, It is who they believe jesus was that defines their religion.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
#203 to #13 - anon (06/17/2013) [-]
Your description of the three religiosn is mostly accurate. However, not all Christians believe that Jesus is God incarnate (look up non-Trinitarians). Also, the term "Jew" can vary in definition depending on the context, as it can apply to both the ethnic people and the religious group.

For example, some ethnic Jews are NOT religiously Jewish, but instead Christians in faith, i.e. they accept Jesus as the Messiah and hold to Christian doctrine (look up Messianic Jews), yet they are still "Hebrews". Also, there are few known cases of people that were not Jewish by heritage but still adhered to Judaism.

This follows significantly into your extraction, which I'm happy to discuss if you're still interested by now.
User avatar #62 to #13 - occamsrazor (06/17/2013) [-]
For the most part, pretty much accurate. I know that to Jews, Jesus was basically what would be a reformed rabbi today, he could've been a great one, but only Christians believe he was literally a god.
User avatar #205 to #62 - chiktikkavaspaus (06/17/2013) [-]
I have to correct you. We don't believe he is 'A' god, we believe he IS God. God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit are all the same entity in my beliefs.
#18 to #13 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
i dont think that **** matters, i believe jesus was my savior and he came to save everyone, not just christians. the term "christian" was made by man.
User avatar #86 to #18 - GeneralLeeInsane (06/17/2013) [-]
If you go by your bible, every term, name and word in existence was created by man, not god.

You used both the words *Think and *Believe, Stating opinions on the internet is a very risky move.
Also, you are stating your religions beliefs, opening up a can of worms that can not possibly end well.

well, thanks for the reminder of just how intolerant everyone on the internet is

The internet is a place where even solid facts are refuted by those who love only to anger the other party.
User avatar #84 to #23 - certifiedidiot (06/17/2013) [-]
Solid facts and religion does not go together, there is a reason it's called faith.
#125 to #84 - anon (06/17/2013) [-]
in your case, blind faith.
User avatar #163 to #125 - toosexyforyou (06/17/2013) [-]
When you grow up, you'll realize that all faith is blind faith. It's kind of implied in the definition of the word.

Nice counterargument you have there, or do you realize you can't convince people there is a magic man who lives in the sky?
#29 to #28 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
eeeeeeeh, god says not to force his word because it can sometimes push people farther away, so i do not believe i can convince someone of my beliefs, buuuuuuuut on the other hand he says he will not lose a single sheep, so i guess when he calls you you're gonna know, regardless of anything.
#30 to #29 - anon (06/17/2013) [-]
The Bible is the word of God. We know this is true because the bible says so, and we know the Bible is infallible because it is the word of God. Do you know what this is called? Circular reasoning.
#31 to #30 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
thats where the concept of faith comes in. we can get into this, if you'd like, i'd say im alright-ly versed in the bible
#32 to #31 - anon (06/17/2013) [-]
The concept is faith is ******** ."There is not enough evidence to support this, but I'm just going to believe it anyways." Let's just set aside the fact that it's all ******** . Let's ignore it for a moment and let me ask you something, why do you believe? Why? What do you get out of it?

i get peace. life without god is meaningless, nothing we do is ever going to make a difference, we have around 80-90 years on a planet thats 4 billion years old on the edge of a galaxy drifting in a cluster of galaxies. everything we do now is meaningless. but even besides that on a smaller scale, humans are pieces of **** , we're greedy hypocritical insensitive murderers, who by our own free will have driven this planet to its edge and have caused almost 2/3rds of the planet to live in extreme poverty while all the rest of us relish in our luxuries. the world without god is a hopeless **** hole. now that is only the negative aspect. when you have jesus, i can guarentee you that everything will change; the world will seem better in every aspect, and whats even better than that, it teaches you how to live. jesus came so that we no longer had to live by the law (10 commandments), so that we could, instead, live for others or "love thy neighbor as i have loved you". if you really want me too i can explain to you my life troubles and how i have gotten through only because of god, or i can tell you the short version which is, life is entirely meaningless without him, and until you start to live for him, life will be ****** , and it wont change.

Speak for yourself. Humanity has done a lot of great things. Just because you've let a book convince you you're a piece of **** who will never amount to anything doesn't mean everyone else is. Your existence means as much to you as you perceive it to be. 1000 years ago you could ask someone if a human would walk on the moon, they would have told you that you were crazy. There are so many advancements that we've made and so many more that we are going to make. The type of thinking you are promoting is that of a self-defeatist society. You seem to be giving up too easily. If everyone was like you, we'd still be living in the Dark Ages. You think that it's people like you who make the world a brighter place, but really it's not, because you choose to see all the negatives, none of the positives, and no room for improvement. I know that it won't be within 20 years, or 50, **** I know it might not be 1000, but some day, the world will be a better place. Everyone can make a difference.
#36 to #34 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
see? the only people angry about the truth are living a lie. you asked this question yourself so why get so defensive with my reply? and also no matter what _** YOU**_ do will ever amount to anything even slightly difference to humanity, even the greatest of our history haven't done anything for the betterment of society, if anything it's getting worse! before people were slaves and they knew it, but now they don't just see us as slaves, we're cattle now. and woooooow we know so much about nothing. what's the significance of space travel? nothing. admit it, we can't get any practical resources or anything out of it, besides learning what our universe is made out of, which i cannot lie, i ******* love astrophysics and astronomy, but only because its interesting, we have no hope of getting anything from space. and face it, if the world were going to brighter wouldn't it have shaped up within the 20,000 years humanity has existed? no, from mans birth the world has progressively gotten ******** and ******** .
#37 to #36 - anon (06/17/2013) [-]
You are the one living the lie, my friend. I get defensive because it's people like you who are making things worse. How do you know what I will do or what I won't do? You don't and neither do I. You have to look at everything as a whole. Compare the technological advancements of now to that of the technology in 10,000 B.C., then try and tell me with a straight face that no ones will every amount to anything. The significance of space travel is so vast that it's impossible to put into words. The fact that anything and everything is possible. I would say it's shaping up, slow and steady. I mean, we aren't burning people at stakes anymore right? The night is darkest just before dawn. Like I said before, if you have such a negative perception and outlook, there is no possible way I can convince you anything. This isn't even about God anymore or your religion. This is my concern that there are more people like you, and everyone like you is what's preventing us from advancing as a society.
#39 to #37 - anon (06/17/2013) [-]
If you constantly believe you won't amount to anything, guess what? You won't amount to anything. You have to believe in yourself. I've never met anyone who was as much of a self-defeatist as you. If you don't think great things will happen then they won't. Sure humanity is ****** up, we do terrible things to each other. I know all about this my darling, but what we need is hope. Hope for humanity. This does not come from God. It does not come from religion. It comes from a love for your fellow human being. I have to go now, and I won't be able to speak to you anymore, but I just want you to know that things don't have to be this way. Things can change, you just have to believe they can. How can you know they can't if you don't try? I know I probably haven't convinced you anything, I know I probably can't, but that isn't my goal. My goal is to get you thinking. My goal is to plant the seed of doubt. My goal is to try and help you free your mind. My love for humanity knows no bounds.
#38 to #37 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
don't mistake me for one of those "humans were created by god and evolution isnt real and science is complete ******** " believers, i ******* love science and i agree with you that everything and anything is possible, buuuuuut i'd say before we started jumping into technological advances and scientific knowledge we should first unite as a people and then begin everything else. we've learned to fly through the air like birds, and swim through the sea's like fish, but yet we havent learned how to walk the earth as sister and brother.
