I know people are going to hate this.
Star Wars sucks.
I mean, the story is great, it's awesome with the whole space knights and rebellion, but there was a lot of filler of galactic politics and stuff.
And the CGI is kind of bad, if they remade them, keeping the original script (with some boring stuff cut out) then it would be awesome.
As of now it's one of those "Sunday Afternoon Movie" watches that you find on the cheap channels.

And SPIKE

Imagine if the movie had been aired for the first time with new technology today. I wonder what people would think of it without all the bias

Did you expect the graphics from the 1970's to be good? Appreciate a good movie with what it has to work with, they barely even had a high enough budget to even make the first movie.
It's cinematic genius based on it's components during the time, excluding the story line even. Take a film studies class and then you'll know what you're talking about

The "Filler" as you would call it, Is what makes the story line so dynamic that we have over 100 books from 1000 years before to 80 years after. (Ignoring anything disney will make because they refuse to make the Vong war)
If you are watching Star Wars for actions then you are seriously missing out big time.

I'm not, it's just that when you actually watch the movies, a scene will begin, you can go and get a drink come back and in time to see all the information and conclusion.
It's slow.

So to sum it up: Cut all the storytelling and just show 2h of battle. Throw in some fancy VFX too to make it look all nice and sparkly huh?

I'm not saying that, but they easily could cut out half the battles and cut each one down from 2 hours to an hour and a half a piece. They have a lot of filler in all the movies that could be cut out.

the prequels maybe. i don't think they had enough resources and shizzle to make a lot of ''filler'' in the originals.

Doubtage on the Simpsons one. Dudes kissing other dudes has been a comedy staple since before television. I sincerely doubt it didn't happen for 50 years. It might be that it was the first male kiss by a gay character, but even then the kiss is played for laughs and Karl is only implied to be gay.

Sir Alec Guinness was a real life Jedi he predicted the death of James Dean!

"When Dean introduced himself to British actor Alec Guinness outside the Villa Capri restaurant in Hollywood, he asked him to take a look at his brand new Porsche Spyder. Guinness thought the car appeared 'sinister' and told Dean: "If you get in that car, you will be found dead in it by this time next week." This encounter took place on September 23, 1955, seven days before Dean's death."

Similar to the Alec Guinness one; Patrick Stewart never wanted to play Captain Picard in Star Trek TNG. He only took the role when his agent assured him the show would never get past the first season and he may as well make a quick buck off the series after which he could go back to stage acting like he wanted.

That scene in the simpsons is still a shocker, seeing this guy who's been awesome with homer suddenly kiss him and firing up the imaginations of homer fanfics.
