******* laughed for ten minutes straight.

I can just see the realization on the birds face.
all alone.
and it whispers.

I imagined it being scary.
A dark, cold night, that guy and the bird. A feeling of eeriness is in the air, as the parrot sits there, unblinking, watching him as he prepares his meal. As he readies to retrieve his food from the oven, plate in hand, he looks at the bird, realising only now it has watched him this whole time. A sudden sense of dread washes over him like the water of a shower. And as each of them looks the other in the eye, one in fear, the other filled with malice, it whispers through the cold darkness..."I'm a bird..."

2spooky.

Alex the Parrot had an intelligence near that of a five year old human. It's not that hard to think that while over hearing people talk it would pick up the connection between people saying you're and people stating I am.

well actually parrots are pretty "smart" they`re able to learn connecting words and linking them to colors/shapes or other remarkable stuff

Someone once trained a parrot to have the speaking capability of a 6 year old and you could hold conversations with it.
