He basically said your claim's example was fake, and so you basically have a claim with no evidence because your claim's evidence was groundless.

I am not trying to get in to this argument, since I believe you are right on most of your ideals(basically, what parents should NOT do). However, I don't think that statements like these, even if said frequently, will effect the growth of a child, except in their concept of humor, and farther up the line, possibly maturity. Children today are almost exactly the same as any generation, but merely with more opportunity. They will show both the peaks and troughs of humanity in its time, just as any other generation has. So basically, don't blame either the parents or children for the growth of a generation because their are hundreds of different influences on every human, and I say this indiscriminately about all humans, so it is impossible to pinpoint and attack one or two influences.

Just my two cents. Also, I will say that I am seventeen year old guy(just want you to know this isn't the comment of some guy trying to join a conversation purely for the argument, but someone who says these things seriously), so although I believe everything I said to be true, I feel that if someone says something negative about "This Generation", that I have an obligation to defend it, even more so if it is not only a comment on the malleability of my generation, almost to the point of making me feel like just another sheep in the herd, but also if it blames the credibility of how my parents have raised me.

Lastly, I am not saying this aggressively. I just don't like ANYBODY, not you in particular, who states claims like these without the targeted group being able to truly speak about it. I apologize for the extremely long comment, though. Even I didn't realize I had this much to say. You don't need to comment back, but please just take what I said in to consideration when making claims like this again.

i am a 16 year old boy, and yes our generation has the most opportunity but a lot of us use it the wrong way, like instead of using the internet for something more constructive, we waste away on facebook and funnyjunk. and you cannot deny the fact that for the amount of time our generation has existed we have done less than all previous generations in our amount of time. i don't see how my example can be fake if he himself was making a joke about bad parenting, which then desensitizes parents, or soon to be parents, to this type of parenting.
User avatar #148 to #125 - brettyht (06/17/2013) [-]
Wait, wait, wait. This generation is just getting started. Of course it is not going to be as productive yet as the previous generations. So far, our only real influences are on the media and a small percentage of blue collar jobs. As I said, we do have great potential, so making a judgement like this before we even have the chance to take advantage of that potential is kind of unfair.

On the part of the example, I meant that the man was a comedian. It is his job to make jokes that are extreme and almost completely unrelatable, but still get a good laugh. His joke, I believe, far from represents anything like a "style of parenting." It doesn't show how they take care of the child, or the morals that they convey on to the child, as much as it shows two parents using a small gap in their child's knowledge of terms in order to relieve stress from their every day lives with a simple joke between themselves. So, whether the example is true or fake, I believe that it in no way truly represents any type of parenting, or helps promote any real type of "bad parenting."

Ugh, and I said I wasn't going to enter this debate... I apologize. Also, the reason some people might be ******** on your opinion is not because of the opinion itself, or how you are arguing it, but how you are addressing them. Whether someone is talking to me while bagging on me the whole time, or talks to me respectfully, I usually try to talk without saying things that people might find insulting or antagonizing. Not that you are not doing that, I just wanted to remind you to keep your cool when being argued with someone who DOES fail to do that.
#150 to #148 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
i know, all your points are valid and although i have some points to argue as well i'd rather not get into this again because i was just viciously assaulted by a lot of people. although i cannot say i am completely free of blame when it come to not antagonizing others.
#29 to #26 - scant (06/17/2013) [-]
Why is this style of parenting ****** ? Because they're swearing in front of an infant? Because they use blunt terms to describe different kinds of sexuality?
Also, he isn't advocating it, he's making light of it in a humorous manner.
Maybe if you had a slightly higher intelligence you would have been able to elaborate on why you think these things, and perhaps realise how utterly wrong you are.
#31 to #29 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
this style of parenting is ****** because he specifically tells his "infant" that later on in their lives they might use it to hold cocks in it. i don't think that telling your kids that later in life your mouth will be used for cocks isn't "making light of it in a humorous manner".
#83 to #31 - clevernameguy (06/17/2013) [-]
You don't get how jokes work, do you?
#85 to #83 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]

User avatar #131 to #85 - zaiopeperse (06/17/2013) [-]
He isn't, though. He's poking fun at ****** parenting. Most people realize this but it seems I'm gonna have to explain it for you. Comedians will sometimes say something happened when, in reality it didn't.

I like to imagine you as one of my friends, He likes arguing to the end of the world and back about nothing. I like to imagine me saying that to him (you, for now) and him going "Oh noes, he's lying about his day how will I ever be able to live with that? Woe is me"
#133 to #131 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
how it looks in my mind:
internet user #1: omfg this generation is hopeless
internet user #1(upon seeing this comment): omfg so funny, he is making a joke about being a bad parent.
at that point that he makes the joke, it influences others to do the same with their children, whether it be out of seriousness or just for a laugh. and as well there is also the conflict of that specific user being hypocritical. you see, it doesn't matter if its real or fake, what matter is the influence this joke has had on some parents.
User avatar #137 to #133 - zaiopeperse (06/17/2013) [-]
What you fail to realize is that Internet user #1 is actually not internet user #1 but rather internet user #2. there are many users on the internet, or even this site. And we all have different opinions. It's when someone comes and sais what you do "you're all a part of a retarded pack mindset and it's making you rather silly" (More or less how it sounds) that most of us agree on something. And it's that the person who said that without doing his research, seems like a dick, some of us, let that person defend themselves, which you've been given many opportunities to do, one of which ended in you going for the old "butthurt?" excuse. Need I say more?

If she's still at the age where she's putting coins in her mouth, I doubt she can even speak, let alone understand what a "cock" is. I'm pretty sure just blowing this offensively far out of proportion. Maybe if your parents had given you a warning about just how many cocks you would have in your mouth, you wouldn't be so tense.
#45 to #39 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
humans develop speech around 1-2 years old, this girl is 2 years old. i am in full realization, partly due to the fact that i've created a ********* and partly because this isn't big of a deal, that i am blowing this out of proportion, but i think people who criticize this generation and then think this is funny are extremely hypocritical.
#48 to #45 - scant (06/17/2013) [-]
This kind of parenting is not what is responsible for the reprehensible behavior of a small minority of the current generation. Telling your infantile children that they will probably get themselves into sexual situations some day will not turn them into self-absorbed degenerates.
#50 to #48 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
he didnt just say his "infantile children that they will probably get themselves into sexual situations some day", he said that their mouths might be used for cocks when she gets older. although that wont "turn them into self-absorbed degenerates.", the fact that he is acting like this is okay will ultimately encourage other parents or soon to be parents into treating their kids like this which will turn the "small minority of the current generation" into something much larger than it is now.

Last I checked, having a dick in your mouth qualifies as a "sexual situation".

"the fact that he is acting like this is okay will ultimately encourage other parents or soon to be parents into treating their kids like this"

Because parents all over the world are incapable of discerning parental advice from humor given by a professional comedian. You're making a pretty enormous assumption about the intelligence of these parents. Just because I hear someone talk about their method of parenting, doesn't mean I'm going to adopt it myself.
#61 to #55 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
but that is you, you're assuming the entire world holds all the intelligence you do, and i never said the entire world would be affected by this, merely that the audience that witnessed this failure are slightly more desensitized to this type of parenting.

I think you have grave misconceptions about the average intelligence of people these days.

From my interactions with your generation, I've been left utterly confused. What threw me the most was listening to a group of ~15 year old boys talk about how they think commercials and the rest of the media are far too sexualized. I had the urge to tell them "Listen here you ungrateful little bastards. In my day we had to masturbate to slow loading low quality images and Victoria Secret commercials. We didn't have any of that new fangled HD porn that takes up a majority of the internet like you do. Now be grateful that if you wanted to you could spank your monkey to a fast food commercial." you said "I have honestly met more obnoxious cunts from what I presume to be your generation than from mine, despite interacting with people mostly my age.", in summary this means you've met more people my age who are douches than people who are douches of your age, therefore humanity has gotten worse from your generation to mine.
User avatar #75 to #74 - RandomAnonGuy (06/17/2013) [-]
Like I said, from what I presume to be your generation. You're talking about parenting, so I assumed you were the age to be a parent yourself. I just got out of highschool.
#141 to #26 - anon (06/17/2013) [-]
Or maybe he made the story up for comedy
User avatar #27 to #26 - DoktorHax (06/17/2013) [-]
OR, it was a joke, and you are such a humorless Jew that you feel the need to ruin it for everyone on the internet.
#34 to #27 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
well maybe you hypocrites ought to decide between criticizing the generation of today or supporting ****** parenting.
User avatar #38 to #34 - DoktorHax (06/17/2013) [-]
OR, it was a complete fabrication that he thought up for HUMOR. do you know what that means? HUMOR. it means something funny. and how in the god damned hell am i being a hypocrite? do you even know what that word means?
#41 to #38 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
i'm generalizing you as "the internet" just as you generalized the whole internet, that in itself is hypocrisy, because you are criticizing me for generalizing the internet after you had done the same thing. but back to the original subject, when someone sees a kid nowadays they say "what a ****** up generation" and the generation is ****** up because of bad parenting, which is being promoted in this strip. again i GENERALIZED you with the rest of the people on the internet who do this.
User avatar #44 to #41 - DoktorHax (06/17/2013) [-]
how was i criticizing you for generalizing? i was criticizing you for being a humorless Jew.
#53 to #44 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
"ruin it for everyone on the internet." you generalized the internet and it being ruined because of my comment.
User avatar #54 to #53 - DoktorHax (06/17/2013) [-]
how is that criticizing YOU for generalizing? you got even half a brain cell in that there head of yours?
User avatar #127 to #54 - zaiopeperse (06/17/2013) [-]
Let me just say this. They never said that you did, they said "just like you generalized the whole internet" which means that some of the internet may have different views on the subject than you, or just not care what a stranger on the internet may think (I'm looking at scant now) and recognise this as a joke while also recognising that the "this generation is ****** "-theory is at least as old as socrates, wasn't it? (again, that was aimed at the people who couldn't take the joke for a joke)
User avatar #28 to #26 - paradenoire (06/17/2013) [-]
what? being okay with homosexuality? or saying things around your kids that they will never remember and have no idea what they mean?
#33 to #28 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
i never stated that being okay with homosexuality was wrong, i simply stated that telling your kids that later in life your mouth might be used to hold cocks in it isn't a good type of parenting. and even if they don't remember you should atleast be a role model to your children, who knows maybe is kid will go ask their teacher what a cock is, and for the rest of her life think that using your mouth to hold cocks is okay.
User avatar #36 to #33 - paradenoire (06/17/2013) [-]
he's talking about an extremely young toddler, his daughter was about 2 at the time this was recorded, a 2 year old who would have no idea nor the capacity to understand the word, or remember it.
#37 to #36 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
that's untrue, human brains have the capacity to retain everything we see. i have memories of my first birthday. and even if that was the case its still immoral.
User avatar #42 to #37 - paradenoire (06/17/2013) [-]
Sometimes being introduced to things that are a part of the real world early in life is a good thing. My best friend smokes around his 3 kids with his wife and swears all the time. Not once have they said any swears to their parents or been in trouble at school for repeating them, A good parent is one that teaches their child what is and is not okay to do or say when they are infact a child. They know that if they swear they are in big ****** trouble. Good parenting isnt always about being an example, it's about teaching your child how to be a functioning part of human society. if more parents would do that instead sheltering their child and having no adult conversations around or to them, when they get to that stage of public schooling they are going to do everything they were never introduced or talked about to. I see it all the time, sheltered kids are the ones who go to highschool and get in with the wrong crowd and do illegal things. Only because they were never introduced to it and the parents kept the real world form them. Live with it.
#166 to #42 - scootpilgrim (06/17/2013) [-]
If you actually think it's ok to say these kinds of things around children... then holy **** . I hope you never have kids you ******* degenerate.
#46 to #42 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
still, this isn't "introducing things to them at an early age", he said she might use her mouth for cocks when she was older. that in itself isnt teaching ANYONE what is or isnt wrong, it is an attempt to be funny while jeopardizing your own parenting reputation. and also, if your kids dont see an example of a good person, how the hell are they gonna be one? everything else in your comment i agree with.
User avatar #49 to #46 - paradenoire (06/17/2013) [-]
"good person" is subjective. My buddy is the best father I know besides my own.

You're saying that when a father says to his wife, who are both adults that their daughter might use her mouth when she is an adult for cocks is bad parenting, you sir need to just **** off. I see no point in being so uptight about something that probably didnt even happen and is made to be a joke in general. Made up to make people laugh. Get the stick out of your ass man, it's a joke made by a british dirty comedian.
#52 to #49 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
you see, not everyone has been gifted with the ability to differentiate between reality and fantasy, some people might not have thought this was a joke. also, i know the action took in this joke wasn't bad but acting like it is okay is what im annoyed with.
User avatar #59 to #52 - paradenoire (06/17/2013) [-]
I seriously do not see your point, it's not okay to talk to your wife with your infant child right there that she will one day have sexual relations with a man or woman? OH MY JESUS! HE'S SAYING THAT SHE WILL BE AN ADULT WOMAN WHO PARTAKES IN INTERCOURSE, HOLY **** . It's not that big of a deal. He's not looking his daughter in the eye saying "one day you will suck on men's cocks and you will LIKE IT" he is saying a slang word in an adult conversation with his wife. The infant willnot remember the incident because its not a big moment, the human brainat 2 years old barely develops the capacity to remember certain conversations that they do not pay attention to or are not significant. A birthday is a significant event, therefore you will have memories of it. a conversation your parents had while you were 2 and sucking on coins will not be remembered. And fo the record children are not parents, unless a word is said multiple times TO them they will not repeat it or attempt to say it in most cases. They won't remember.
#65 to #59 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
thats a fat statement, how do you know it wasn't a large moment? my point is that making light of this type of parenting isn't okay, simply because it is a bad type of parenting. telling your kid they're gonna suck cocks isn't that great of a thing to do.
#76 to #73 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
thanks man, i agree, when i have my daughter im going to remember this and think "i should tell her she is gonna suck cock one day because then she wont want to explore her private parts with others"
User avatar #79 to #76 - paradenoire (06/17/2013) [-]
you're an ignorant moron. never once did he say to his child, in the story or in real life. "one day you will suck cock." You're taking it out of context and being quite ignorant. If a toddler waddles into the room while youre talking about sex with your wife, what do they think youre talking about? nothing. I have a daughter, and unlike you I'm not so naive that I think she'll never be doing sexual activity in her life. It's real life.
#82 to #79 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
seriously take it down a notch on the butthurt, i stated my opinion and defended it until you decided it was time for a fight. i don't give a **** about any ****** context because regardless of the context i know you understood what i was trying to convey, and given the fact that almost all animals reproduce through sexual reproduction i know that my kids will one day have sexual interaction with others, but advocating the act telling your kids they might suck dick one day is ******* wrong.
User avatar #84 to #82 - paradenoire (06/17/2013) [-]
******************* , he never ONCE said "you're going to suck dick"
#87 to #84 - darrelltwo (06/17/2013) [-]
and at this point if this is the only artifact you have against my argument i believe you argument lost all merit and i have won.
#129 to #87 - zaiopeperse (06/17/2013) [-]
I disagree. You both pretty much seem to have ignored the other and then you resorted to pulling the "you know what I meant" which is pretty much the equivalent of

"I know my argumentation went off topic and now I'm losing the argument because of it. I'll still win though, because I'm gonna start calling the other guy butthurt and he will back off, mostly because he realises he's about to be arguing with the intelligence of a three-year-old, but I'll say it' because HE's the three-year-old. I win either way" (all of which is more an inner monologue but you catch my drift.
