why do english peeps talk in ft/ins? isnt it way easier to say 1,9m for example? i mean no maths needed there anymore

For a person's height, road speed & distance measurement and TV screen size we still use imperials. For everything else we use metrics.

But I agree, we should change it all to metrics, because imperials do not cohere at all.

The english use the metric system, in america, we use the one used here

Britains system is messed up.

Ok, so the older generation uses ft/in for everything.
The younger generation uses m/cm for everything except height, where we still use ft/in.

Similarly, old people use lb for weight.
Younger people use kg/g for everything except bodyweight, where we still use stone and lbs.

Officially, everything in the country is metric, except for roads, where we still use mph.

why in the world do you use 1,9m. I've learned its almost 2 meters but still. 1,9 makes me think of 1,900 first and when talking about 6feetish/2meters i always wonder whats going on.... then it hits me that its not huge just a lil bit

be fair we recognise what 6ft 4ins is quicker than in metric because we are used to it more. That and it would make us more like the continentals and they are icky.
