What's sad is my school punishes us for self defense. We're not even supposed to block the hits.

My school will understand if you defend yourself and they wont give you a hard time over it but you swill get a 1 day internal suspension because they need to follow education laws or some ****

Same. A kid was hitting me for being gay and calling me a dyke and **** , so i hit him back and got suspended.

It's rare for schools to employ teachers who actually encourage self-defense. I know I wouldn't write up a kid for throwing a punch in defense.
#129 to #36 - anon (06/16/2013) [-]
It's probably because the kids parents went have a **** fit. A friend of mine was attacked by a former friend of his and he only blocked (I didn't step in because the bus driver was yelling at the other kid and my friend didn't seem like he needed any assistance yet.). The next week I'm called into the office and explain my friend didn't even fight back just blocked. They both got the same punishment 5 days OSS(out of school suspension) biggest load of ******** I've ever seen.

I was thrown to the ******* floor trying to defend myself against some dickhead in my 7th grade. He only got a detention when he was being an arrogant ass AND when he instigated the fight. I, thankfully, got nothing.

I remember back in Elementary school there was this fat **** kid named Jacob who used to pick on me every day. He'd push me, pull my hair, spit in my face, and even kick me after he had pushed me down. I told the teacher every day and all she'd say is "Sweetie, Jacob has special needs. I can't punish him." So finally my mom got involved and told the school that if they didn't do anything they'd regret it. Well just as above, the school didn't do jack **** .
So finally one day, on picture day, I wore a pretty flower dress to school and my mom braided my hair and put a flower in it. Jacob made a beeline straight to me and pushed me down. The then took the flower out of my hair and stepped on it. He said "You're ugly so stop trying to be pretty like all the other girls." I remember standing back up, holding back tears and punching him square in the face. But after a full school year's worth of bullying I didn't stop. I beat the living **** out of that kid. I punched him in the face, I pushed him to the ground, climbed on top of him and punched him over and over again. Then finally as the teacher was pulled me off of him, I started to kick my legs. I made direct contact with his fat ******* face, knocked his ass out cold. My mom was called and she said "Well maybe next time when a student is being bullied you'll do something." and then hung up the phone.

Jacob never bullied me from that point on.

that reminded me of when I was in kindergarten KINDERGARTEN and a boy was always bullying me. I was a simple cute girl, so I thought maybe if I look cuter than usual he would be nicer to me. I wore my best dress, he grabbed the end and dragged me across the wood chips. that was the day some one noticed, but for years multiple people bullied me

Shame it does not work like that when you are older (in high school for instance). Fighting can easily get you arrested, at least in the school I went to, so you have to either find other ways of resolving the matter or at least settle the matter outside of school.

**** the law, i follow my morals and i know what's right and what's wrong. For any sheep that live in UK, must suck not being able to use self defense, instead you have to wait for the police to come 20 minute later or you get charged worse than the initial criminal.
User avatar #66 to #7 - indigobob (06/16/2013) [-]
Huh, where I live it goes like this:

User avatar #8 to #7 - disturbingirony (06/16/2013) [-]
There's a world of difference between self defense and fighting.
#41 to #8 - papastalin (06/16/2013) [-]
I completely agree with you, but unfortunately my school did not. Their policy regarding bullying and any type of fighting was retarded.

To give an example, if someone started a fight with you, you could have your hands behind your back the entire time and just let them hit you, and even with multiple witnesses testifying to the fact that you did not strike back you would get the same consequences as the offender ( saw this happen to someone in person, it was ******** ).

Basically, if the bullying situation escalates to the point of physical violence the school just says " **** it, we don't want to deal with this, you are both suspended". It's lazy, it's unfair, and it's the school's first and last resort for actually addressing these problems.
User avatar #123 to #41 - ugottanked (06/16/2013) [-]
thats a steaming load of ********

not even lying, at my high school, kids got suspended for defending themselves all the time. its common in these 'zero-tolerance' schools.

I once got detention because there was a food fight in the cafeteria. had to write a letter of apology to the principle.

I was not even in school that day.
User avatar #116 to #8 - lmaopwnt (06/16/2013) [-]
Not in my school there's not, if some guy started throwing punches at me then I wouldn't be at all surprised if we BOTH got suspended, even if I didn't fight back.
User avatar #90 to #8 - yyh (06/16/2013) [-]
Not in my school system.
#60 to #8 - anon (06/16/2013) [-]
not at my school. If you got hit in the face in my school and didnt even hit the person back there was still a good chance you were getting suspended for being a part of the conflict.
#320 to #8 - yologdog (06/17/2013) [-]
Not usually when it comes to school rules. I got suspended for blocking a roundhouse punch from a guy three times my size.

I had a massive black bruise on my forearm to prove it was just a defensive block but they still didn't care.
User avatar #343 to #320 - disturbingirony (06/17/2013) [-]
So then you punch the principle in the face and say they should be suspended.
#257 to #8 - anon (06/17/2013) [-]

In the eyes of the school I went to there wasn't a difference being. I actually got expelled from that school for defending my self because some punk hit me with a chair because I apparently was being a dick to his "girl" and since he was the one who lost some teeth he didn't get in any trouble. While I do agree self defense and just fighting are two different beasts most people can't tell the difference and don't give a **** most the time.

Too bad nowadays many schools are lazy as **** and suspend all parties involved. True story, I nearly got suspended in third grade for standing up to a group of kids that were bullying another kid. I didn't hit them, I just shouted at them to cut it out.

One does not simply assert one's self to bullies nowadays. This is not the 80s. The concept of honor and mutual respect is far from gone. You fight someone and win you bet your ass they're coming back with a sore ass and more friends. Depending on where you're at someone could end up dead.
Solution is kill em first. But that isn't that easy.

the key is when they get some dudes behind them, you need to get some dudes behind you, then the **** becomes a ******* gang war, his dudes see one of your dudes and beats the **** out of him, then your dudes go back and **** the dude up, and so on and so forth. This then all goes on until you are more powerful than your bully and his dudes abandon him, then you become the bully yourself.... that is unless people from each gang get killed first

You either die a victim or live long enough to see yourself become the bully

(UK here) Back in secondary school i was bullied like hell: punched, kicked, spat at, verbal abused and even vandalising my bike. of course even after telling the school and getting my parents to phone the school nothing happened...
eventually just out of chance it got into a 5 vs me fight where they were just kicking the **** out of me with 2 classes watching and no teachers watching because they wernt there yet. with my eyes streaming with tears (i was a big crier) i saw that a locker door had come off its hinges and was lying there inside its holding bit. the thing was about 40 cm by maybe 20 cm and i think made of steel or something?
so i grabbed it and i just smacked each one of them round the face with it and ran as fast as i could. as soon as i got to my bike i got on it and cycled home, it was about lunch time
in the end the police were called and an ambulance to as i had broken one of the boys noses, i had a black eye, a sprained wrist and a heavy nosebleed. After that no-one talked to me, not even the bullies and 2 weeks later i was pulled from the school and sent to a much better one. When i see the bullies nowadays they maybe yell out a comment or 2 but they dont touch me at all s i would say that hitting them back doesnt solve it 100% but it can at least stop the violence, however it can also give bad consequences (no one wanted anything to do with me)
User avatar #267 to #260 - SognaVetr (06/17/2013) [-]
Not solving it 100% only means you didn't hit them hard enough.
