My uncle has a pitbull and a 6 month old. That ******* dog will sit by the baby on the floor and watches everything as it gets close to him. She protects that kid.

If one of the kids falls outside and gets hurt, she'll go and lay down by them for comfort until an adult comes and gets them.

All dogs are good dogs if you raise them to be.
User avatar #14 - Snookbone (06/16/2013) [-]
Kids are ******* annoying. I think they should be strangled at birth.

For the slow ones, yes, that is a joke. Sort of.
User avatar #67 - slendermanspenis (06/16/2013) [-]
This is very true. But jokes aside a Pitbull is different compare to how you raise it. When I was 10 turning 11 years old I remember coming home one day from the BBC centre for a school trip and the same night my neighbour and both my parents were savaged by a Pitbull. But that was because the kids outside was teasing it, although I'm not to keen on this type off breed I still think it's a beautiful dog but would never own one. But the thing is, yes a pitbull is a loving creature but at the same time its a fighting dog you never know when it could turn or any breed for that matter.

Story time. My family had a pit bull/ rottweiler mix. He was a big softy. He never bit anybody, he was just adorable. I got over my fear of dogs because of him. Some dumb lady's sister who was visiting nearby saw the big puppy we had, and reported it to the people near my house. What the **** . We had to get rid of our big puppy. Luckily, there are some people we knew who took him in. I saw the dog a couple of weeks ago. He's very healthy, and he still remembers me. He's very much a still baby.

I want to get a pack of Siberian huskies and Alaskan malamutes that I'll train to lay outside and people watch in perfect sync.
User avatar #39 - myrtille (06/16/2013) [-]
I unfortunately had a pitbull who was angry. We even raised her from a puppy. She ended up attacking my friend and we had to put her down because she was too dangerous. No one had ever used violence on her and she didn't come from a line of fighting pitbulls. I don't usually tell people about it, because they shriek and go "YOU HAD A PITBULL?!" but even after my experience, I don't think pitbulls are bad dogs. We just happened to get a dog with a violence issue, and because of her breed, she ended up being good at being violent. But it can happen with any dog. Don't forget that, folks. Even your little ones can hurt badly. Just be smart about it, that's all I ask. Anyway, thanks for reading all that...
User avatar #60 to #39 - ishouldplayzelda (06/16/2013) [-]
if you treated it kindly and it was still violent, then it probably had an aggression disorder of some kind
User avatar #66 to #60 - myrtille (06/16/2013) [-]
it probably did. she actually attacked my smaller dog (chihuahua/minpin mix) and my stepdad's dog (a beagle mix), but we wanted her so badly because she was so nice to us, that we ignored it, hoping it'd go away, and she attacked my friend and ripped her boot off and wouldn't let her get off of my old swingset without my stepdad dragging her away.
I do believe she had an aggression problem, and that she was just good at being violent because she was a pit bull (their physical attributes definitely help), and not because of the pit bull breed's mental state. She was a troubled dog.
Did you know that when a pitt bull kills a child, they're more likely to be featured in the news than say, a golden retriever, even though statistics say that all big dogs attack children almost equally? It's a shame, really. My mom is the type of person to think that all of them should be put down.
I say that all dogs have to be on a leash and neutered unless you get a breeding permit.
I truly believe dogs want to please their humans, but they definitely can't think about how to do that on their own.
Any dog CAN be dangerous. Exercising proper precaution against any animal is necessary, even if it's a sweet dog. Just watch your dog with your kid, and teach your kid the skills necessary to not piss off a dog (obviously) and usually they won't feel threatened enough to attack.
#71 to #66 - anon (06/16/2013) [-]
I don't know if you have ever watch some of the dog shows on animal planet but something happened like this on the one show with the british lady, The family dog was just mean to anyone but the family. They took it to the vet and had tests ran, turned out that the dog had a thyroid problem or some **** that was causing the dogs hormones ot be out of wack, they put the dog on meds but the dog trainer straight up told them that they were going to have a dog that would attack people if they didn't take precautions.

Also it was not a pitbull, it was some kind of shaggy haired dog, it was a big breed of dog.
User avatar #75 to #71 - myrtille (06/16/2013) [-]
Yeah. That's what I'm saying. Any dog can go ballistic for seemingly no reason. Our vet couldn't find anything wrong with our dog though, so they told my mom and stepdad to put her down before she really hurts someone.
User avatar #68 to #66 - ishouldplayzelda (06/16/2013) [-]
well i think that if humans can have bi-polar disorders and schizophrenia and things like that which just cause seemingly unexplainable and unprovoked aggression, i don't see any reason why any other species of animal couldn't have that too.

i'm just saying never blame yourself for it. you can't blame yourself for having a child who has a neurological problem that causes them to just beat the **** out of people all the time. your dog was very likely the same way

The American Temperament Test Society runs a course to determine how temperamental a dog/breed is. Obviously, they run it multiple times, especially on dogs with a reputation, such as pit bulls, dobermans, etc.

The American Pit Bull got a 86.8% success rate. Seems low, but compare that to a "family friendly" dog, such as a Golden Retriever: 85.2% success rate. Hell, pits even ranked better than Doberman Pinschers (78.5%).
Collie: 80.3%
German Shepard: 84.8%
The average success rate is 83.0%
So why is it pits are the "dangerous" dog, when they're actually one of the least? Probably because of the media bias, so when there's a dog attack, you'll only hear about it if it's a pit bull.
User avatar #87 to #77 - YoDawgWeHeard (06/16/2013) [-]
Because they have the power to destroy a human without flinching. AND THEY DO IT OFTEN. WAY more often than any other breed because they're just a bunch of inbred scum. They have a string, and as soon as it snaps, they attack the first living thing around
#83 to #77 - anon (06/16/2013) [-]
no, it's because they rip little kids throats out, and other dogs just give them a nastly little cut.
And those tests are ******** , pit bulls attack all the time, way more often than other dogs

The way you raise a pit bull has nothing to do with the reason they are assholes. their brains get too big for their skull causing severe head pain and eventually causing the dog to snap.
