They're funded by donations. They shouldn't be taxed (which would achieve ******** anyway, especially NASA funding).

Gee I dont know man. The Bible as well as actual historical accounts have eye witnesses to the miracles of the proclaimed "son of God" It's kind of like comparing a court case with evidence to that without evidence. There is some evidence to the Bible being mostly true but not enough to confirm it. It's not likely that one day someone said, "Let me lie and start a cult that will eventually turn into a religion."

Atheism = anti-God, not disbelief in God

#120 to #81 - Rascal (06/16/2013) [-]
No sir, Atheism=Disbelief in God.
Being an Asshole=Intolerance
User avatar #124 to #120 - balloketchup (06/16/2013) [-]
I've yet to meet an atheist that wouldn't get pissed off and start an argument if religion was brought up. I, being a former atheist myself, was the same way; I'd rag on Christians allday erryday and say they were the intolerant morons. But yes, atheism is being anti-God with 'disbelief' being the ultimate form of hate. Kinda like how retarded Christians don't believe in the Big Bang, yet also hate it. Jus' sayin.

Except that most of what's in the bible has pretty strong historical backing, more like a thousand people watched a guy throw a 150 mph fastball and then passed it down
User avatar #87 to #11 - nicolbolas (06/16/2013) [-]
the difference is that many religious figures such as Jesus and Muhammad would preform a miracle that would be witnessed be several people. Those people would spread what they witnessed to other people in a similar fashion as above. The figure head would never say much about what they have done.

Whether the people actually witnessed something or just agreed to spread a similar story can only be speculated but the difference is that people would have said you threw a 150mph fast ball and you wouldn't have.
#90 to #11 - Rascal (06/16/2013) [-]
There's nothing wrong if you're religious for the right reasons. If you use religion for good morality reasons, why does it ******* matter? Why do you have such a problem with how others live? Is your life really that useless? I pity you, man. And I am sorry.
#95 to #11 - Rascal (06/16/2013) [-]

I still believe in God.

Well technically it doesn't stand for anything, it just symbolizes the cross Jesus was hung up on. All crosses looked like that to fit the human body in an outstreched T-position for MAXIMUM PAIN YEAAAHH

Heres a few scenarios that may happen if you asked that.
1. She looks at you like the retard you are.
2. She comes up with something witty that gets you angry.
3. She goes into great detail about what it stands for

No matter what happens, in the end its not worth the time for you to purposely be an asshole.

why do we pretend this is okay? people don't go around with guillotine necklaces. this was the method of executing people. it symbolizes suffering, pain, death.

The cross was, but for Catholics and Christian, it is used to represent Jesus's sacrifice. The crucifix, the cross with Jesus on it, is more widely used because it is not just the cross. Also, a few of the twelve disciples and countless other Christians died on the cross, and it is seen as a symbol of martyrdom and sacrifice for their belief.

Source- I'm a Roman Catholic who has helped teach CCD for a few years. I left because I doubted much of what they were saying and felt that the preachers of the religion has strayed too far from the intended course of loving every single person, no matter who they are or what they think. So, technically, I am an ex-Catholic.
User avatar #31 to #15 - mapleknight (06/16/2013) [-]
But for us it's a symbol of hope,
It's the sign of how Jesus made sin obsolete and became our savior.
Don't wanna start up some big ********* or get some red thumbs, just saying.
It's okay because that's not what we use it for.

Exactly. In death, Christ saved humanity.

if he cant actually die, and we are told mortal life is unimportant, there wasnt really any downside for him dying was there? As in he made no real sacrifice and everything is just fine up in heaven. Seems god could have just forgiven sins instead of going all soap opera on it.
User avatar #130 to #129 - mapleknight (06/18/2013) [-]
