Me too, everyone whining about it hasn't even tried to get used to it or hasn't even seen it in real life. Just a bunch of bandwagon guys without their own opinion.

W8 is faster, more stable, more beautiful (well k that's personal taste), and has ********* of new useful stuff and if you don't want to use the metro apps you don't have to, I don't get the fuzz against it.

I'm guessing they don't like the tile-based ****. It's a DESKTOP computer, let me use my goddamn desktop! I think it's meh. I could probably get used to it if I had one, but right now the only one I've used is my lil'bro's, so it's kinda difficult finding what I want.

I read somewhere that they were gonna make a patch which allows you to set the old desktop-view as standard, and if they do/did that I'd be happy to use it; the main problem I have with it is that the tiles are made for touch screens, not PC monitors.

the tlie based stuff, which is called metro, works pretty much like the start menu thingy in the left corner on w7, I like it a lot and use it like the desktop, I find it neat to be able to create different sections for my stuff like games or shortcuts.

and i find the tiles easy to click because of their sizes

I guess those are valid points; as I said I don't have Win8 myself so I don't get to tweak around with it and see what it can do.

I rarely use the start-button though; I have shortcuts and folders on my desktop to everything important, and more shortcuts within those folders.

Well, one would assume that the console and the games are both still in development. Which is done with computers. So it'd be simpler to provide the demo through a computer probably, but I'm not a very intelligent person so I am probably wrong.

I don't know if you are intelligent or not, I just know you are damn right on this one.

This has been done before even in demos back for the PS3 and 360. It's just easier for the sake of the dev's in such event to run their console OS on a PC that has a similar hardware as the console would.

And OF COURSE said PC must be high end, though I'm not sure it's the high end 700's. Anyway, the reason it MUST be more powerful than the XBOX One would be, is that the XBOX One will directly run the console OS.

This machine however, is running Windows 7, and within Windows 7 the console OS is emulated. So more performance would be needed than if it was just directly running the console OS.

"on a PC that has a similar hardware as the console would."

I should probably correct myself in saying a "somewhat" similar (if you factor in the fact that the hardware needs to run an OS that emulates another OS within it)

So the final result that you should get from this PC would be about the same as that you would get from the actual console.

So if you went to a Bike dealership and wanna buy a new bike. I.e. A brand new Bmw gs800. A kinda basic bike, good for touring and adventuring. They let you test it, but it turns out it's really the Bmw gs1200 with abs, added fuel tank, scott oiler, every single extra. It's faster, more powerful, feels better and runs better. So you put down money on it. Is that also fair? Because the new model was still being finished?

Yeah, I just felt my example was more real world, as people can actually see what's wrong there. You sounded like you were defending them, I'm saying the opposite. If I test ride a bike, and the give me a different model, I'd say they were misleading me, unless they told me straight up "Sorry sir, we only have this model to trail, it will give you a feeling for it, but the other model will have less power, but be lighter and more fuel economic" etc.

Yeah, I can see how this would be bothersome. Even if their console isn't ready, using a computer to simulate it doesn't exactly provide a "real" demonstration. I wouldn't really hold it against them, but I'd still say to take their claims about the console's power with a grain of salt.

That`s how you develop game, on a pc, you know the specs and the architecture of the console so you can emulate. Off course you test it with the console during the process, but assuming those test were done, they can have the same version running with a pc

Loads of companies use what are called "dev kits" for their console and game demonstrations. These are basically computers that run basically the same hardware as the actual console, except without being in the flashy casing. Both Sony and Microsoft did this at E3 this year, and much the same happens whenever new consoles are released. There is no trickery here, just a demonstration of the potential of each console presented on a dev kit which is much easier for setup at the conference.

You can learn more about it here if you want: www.forbes.com/sites/jasonevangelho/2013/06/15/were-xbox-one-e3-demos-running-on-nvidia-hardware-it-doesnt-matter-and-heres-why/

Valid point, however it's not dev kits they're using as that's clearly an Nvidia GPU, looks like it could be a GTX 780 or a Titan, so it would likely be much more powerful than the AMD 7790-like GPU that the Xbox One is supposedly using. The fact that it's running Windows 7 doesn't surprise me, as the Xbox One uses an x86 architecture, and Windows 7 is a stable OS. I'm not saying you're wrong because it's understandable that games that are not finished/optimized/debugged or whatever need much more power to run, I'm just saying that isn't a dev kit, it's a powerful PC, and there's nothing wrong with that.
