I'm fat (6'1', 275 lbs) and I want to apologize on behalf of the ones that make all fat people look bad. As with most groups, a few rotten apples have spoiled the bunch.

Short story:
I work in a hospital and a very large woman was complaining to one of the maintenance men that her bed didn't adjust. She became upset and outraged when she learned that the beds don't function when the person weighs more than 450 lbs.
<mfw she wanted me to back her up in her arguement

Look up the definition of 'group'. A group is just a collection of people for any reason, in his case: fat people who think being fat is ok.
User avatar #381 to #92 - chexlemeneux (06/15/2013) [-]
My definition of "group" is a collection something with a trait in common. So, in my opinion, everything could be considered a group. People with blue eyes are a group, people with curly hair are a group, ect.

Glorious high metabolism master race.
#306 to #240 - itsbendingtime (06/15/2013) [-]
Meh the whole metabolism thing is kind of a myth.
Men have generally faster metabolisms than women, but the overall change in your daily calories burned off varies by only a few hundred between "slow metabolism" and "fast metabolism".
#459 to #306 - creosote (06/15/2013) [-]
You're completely wrong, I'm afraid. I have met people who hardly eat yet they're as bloated as a blowfish, and I eat constantly, hardly exercise, and I'm skinnier than any girl I've ever met.

#632 to #631 - itsbendingtime (06/17/2013) [-]
Fat people who claim not to eat a lot simply underestimate how much they eat, and overestimate how much they exercise.

User avatar #633 to #632 - creosote (06/17/2013) [-]
That's a pretty small test group, but that is interesting and it makes sense. Hopefully they'll do more studies on it, maybe on the psychological side. I'd be interested to see what they find out. It'd also be nice if they were to study us smaller folk and to figure out what's going wrong there, because if my inability to gain weight entirely lies with the difference between how much I exercise and how much I think I exercise or how much I eat and how much I think I eat, I'd love to know so I could make that change.

I realize metabolism slows with age, but that comes at like age 30-40. 20-30 is the peak physical time of your life. Saying my metabolic activity will slow when I hit my 20's is just wrong. Also I was saying the reasons you were giving me were not age related, not metabolism in general. Everyone knows that metabolism slows as you age. Not once you hit 20 though.

Honestly, to me she's just a bit chubby, not fat.
Part of what makes her look bigger is that her shorts are too small and giver her a "muffin top" or "love handles."
Many girls try to squeeze into smaller shorts so that they can say they are a smaller size than they actually are to try to help their confidence and such.

Just try to eat healthy and snall meals, like fruit with yogurt for snacks, and balanced meal for lunch/dinner. Try to hit the gym, or if you don't want to go to the gym just try to work out regularly at home and try to do cardio every day. Remember to try and drink water frequently as it can actually help weight loss. It's not easy but if you really want it you can definitely do it!

but yes anyone that is fat is simply fat

Now that I'm bodybuilding to become to more muscular and toned, I get women who complement me on my body (some who even become stunned), but I still can't date nor get laid. User avatar #248 to #229 - wellfuckmylife (06/15/2013) [-]
It's the experience/knowledge about women that counts, not your body (well, a little bit of that too).

For real. I weight a little over 200lbs and there are 2 girls (maybe more, other haven't told) who likes me. One is with a "world's average hot standard" body, the another is with my hot standard body.

From my personal experience, I ironically did better with girls when I had a rough body than I did with girls when I had a good body. I even got off with this one serious hottie, eventhough I went through a slight chubby phase. I know attraction is not all about having a good body but I feel that it helps since it elevates your confidence and women still appreciate it somewhat. It's just a question of improving my social skills from there.
User avatar #289 to #212 - largilloquent (06/15/2013) [-]
weight and looks have alot less to do with it than you think, i have a fat friend (like easily 250 -300) and he gets laid almost whenever he wants, cause he knows how to talk to women.
#391 to #212 - anon (06/15/2013) [-]
Attraction for women is by desirability. If you are easily obtainable by any woman, they won't see you has attractive. It's the entire science of attraction. You have to make the woman believe that she has to act or some OTHER girl will. It's why girls fall for the typical "asshole" even when they know he's an asshole. Because if he isn't an asshole to her, he will be with another. Makes him less obtainable and off the market thus more attractive.

Being a nice guy DOES work once you've passed the "He's desirable!" stage. But if you were fat and lost tons of weight then the girls must still see you as easily obtainable. Come off more like an asshole. It does work. Put on the asshole cap. Good luck.

first hand experience.

i was born in europe and everyone there smokes. my great grandfather smoked for his entire life, he died at 86. He also was an alcoholic to some point and drank basically everyday. Kids there start smoking at age 10 or lower. You can usually buy alcohol and cigs at the store without any ID or reason. Not only that, but people also make it themselves. My great grandfather created his own alcohol maker and would pick up rotten fruits and put them over a hot fire until the fluid leaked through a tube to create the alcohol. Wine is considered to be healthy and people consume it everyday. In france, even moreso. But we drink all different kinds of alcohol, from beer, vodka, cognac, etc.

Oh right, where talking about smoking. So smoking itself isnt really that dangerous compared to other things. Being obese is a lot more unhealthy than smoking is in my opinion.
User avatar #343 to #334 - miniwilliam ONLINE (06/15/2013) [-]
Mind you, I am saying this as a non-smoker, with 2 parents who ARE smokers, and a chunk of my friends that smoke. It isn't dangerous, and even the ******* initial testing done that supposedly "proved it was dangerous and increased risk of lung cancer" actually states that it didn't increase the chance for children, and the results for adults were inconclusive.

Fat chicks need love too.
But they gotta pay
User avatar #500 - mintea (06/15/2013) [-]
There is nothing I hate more than people blatantly lying to call people beautiful.
Example: Adalia Rose.
Yeah, all jokes aside it's a shame for the kid, but in no way is she physically beautiful. Everybody calls her beautiful as if it will make them better people and to stand tall above those making jokes. No. She is not good looking.
Why is it that no one says in her defense that the girl is a nice person? Why don't they say she is great for enjoying life despite it all? Instead they lie and say she is beautiful. I do not understand why.
By all means, it won't be right to just go out and say "damn she's ugly" but instead why not just focus on something other than looks?
There is a lot more than just beauty in the world. God damn it.

tldr; You wouldn't say someone with no arms has great arms, so why say someone who is not good looking is beautiful?
User avatar #515 to #500 - highhopes (06/15/2013) [-]
Beauty is more than just the physical appearance. It's also about inner strength, kindness and courage of a person.
User avatar #518 to #515 - mintea (06/15/2013) [-]
I know, but in the case I'm talking of every person is treating it as looks. I saw some even call those making fun of her ugly, by going off of their profile pictures on facebook. Something like this: "Hey **** you she is beautiful, look at your profile picture you're ugly/fat, you have no room to talk."

I should have specified that though.
#521 to #515 - anon (06/15/2013) [-]
that is not refered to as beauty.

thats refered to as inner strength, kindness and courage of a person.

instead of saying she is beautiful (clearly implying the wrong meaning), try to say she has good inner strength or a lot of kindness or a lot of courage.
User avatar #548 to #521 - highhopes (06/15/2013) [-]
That's what being beautiful means to me. Physical appearance is just a small part of being beautiful. When you're saying "She's so beautiful" to a clearly deformed person, you're not talking about their looks, you're talking about how they might have overcome a major obstacle in their lives, how brave they are, and how much you admire them.

I find it very shallow that people think beauty is just about how a person looks.
#552 to #548 - anon (06/15/2013) [-]

Men predominately go for looks since our sexual instincts are triggered by a visual stimulus. It also evolutionary stems from women having good bodies, most notably big boobs and the high hip-to-waist ratio which produces the healthiest offspring. #122 to #89 - selk (06/15/2013) [-]
More important? I would say about even.

To be in a healthy relationship there has to be a sexual attraction and a love for their personality. I could date fug-boots ********* with the world's greatest personality, but the chances of me not feeling a bit of embarrassment for myself for dating someone I find utterly repulsive is low and will only create a stimulating desire for me to fap to Sasha Gray even more and I will eventually want to get out of the relationship. In the same aspect, I could date God's perfect body with tits that taste like honey, but if she is hibitchually a bitch with an attitude worse than a PMSing Samy and Amy offspring, I would hit it and then quit it faster than Chris Brown.

#124 to #89 - weenieandthebutt (06/15/2013) [-]
Personality way more important!? Are you on your high horse or something. Let me address this:
Firstly, women may care about personlity more than men but they are a lot more shallow and picky. How many times do you see them reject the socially awkward guy, the nervy guy or the shy, confident guy despite his nice guy nature. They say that being a nice guy alone doesn't entitle one to sex etc. I can say the same thing about fat girls, I ain't going to date them just because they're nice. I feel that rejecting someone based on personality traits is just as shallow as rejecting someone based on looks. The amount of times that women have made me not feel good enough for them just because I have the raspy high voice as opposed to the sexy, deep manly voice. Double standards are applied in this case.
Secondly, personality traits aren't genetic, they're as a result of social conditioning. Myself, I find it a lot easier to improve looks than on personality. Despite girls complementing me on my fine, lean body, they still find my social quirks quite revolting and it's something I can't change that easily since it stems from my ****** up childhood and teenage life etc.
#194 to #124 - thechucklefuck (06/15/2013) [-]
I am not saying that most women aren't stupid for valuing good looking or asshole men more than introvert men. I am saying that your mate's physical appearance should not be more important than her personality. Personality is highly influenced by intelligence and hormone-levels, which are inheritable. Reproducing with a good-looking but dumb woman might give you healthy offspring, but they will still most likely end up dumb.
#249 to #194 - anon (06/15/2013) [-]
You also don't want ugly little ***** running around your house.
#522 to #124 - anon (06/15/2013) [-]
Personality traits are very much genetic. Yes, the environment influence them as well, but they are largely influenced by genetic predispositions. Research has shown this time and again.

Obese, yeah, don't call that beautiful, but slightly overweight isn't killing anyone.

I think the point of this is to stop people who are slightly overweight, or a normal weight having serious self image issues, and falling into severe depression. - But unfortunately like all well intentioned things, someone's abused it, and now you've now got Mrs Bedbound weighing 500lbs wobbling her fat around screaming "Don't hate me 'cos I'm beautiful, you just can't handle a real woman".

I agree, obesity is bad, but I think there's a bit of a disconnect in the terminology. This is probably a bad example, but I see porn videos all the time which have the title as something about a "chubby" or "fat" girl. However, when I watch the video, 8 out of 10 times it's just an average girl. Not skinny, but also definitely not fat.

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this trend, or if it's just me, but it seems that society has drastically lowered the qualifications for being fat, so much so that if you're not skinny, you're chubby. There's no middle ground of normalcy.
#195 to #85 - anon (06/15/2013) [-]
Huh, whenever I see "chubby" in porn, it's usually a whale posing as a chubby girl. Chubby is being slightly bigger than usual, if you have 2 chins, you a fat **** .

average is not equal to healthy weight.

I'm 5'7" and about 160 pounds, and I'm female.

I think you're right. When someone has a serious medical condition and is considered obese or morbidly obese, then yeah. There's a problem. A girl (or a guy, for that matter) carrying some extra weight like me due to a medical issue (I have Cushing's Syndrome) shouldn't be constantly harassed.
I went through a lot of therapy when I developed bulimia in middle school because kids would make fun of me because I was 'fat'. I'm healthy, I do Taekwondo, I eat a decent diet, better than my 6 foot 130 pound boyfriend does. I unfortunately just have a hormone imbalance that makes it difficult to lose weight.
It's not impossible for me to lose weight, but it's too much effort to be worth it in my opinion. My doctors have told me that my size does not put me at a real health risk because I eat well and exercise, and if I want to lose weight, it would be cosmetic. My boyfriend and I have been together almost two years and he likes the size I am. My health isn't at risk, a lot of people are healthy but because of their build or a disorder like I have, they end up heavier. People come in different shapes and sizes.

TL;DR We shouldn't encourage the morbidly obese to be obese, but we also shouldn't harass people for their size. That just makes it so much worse.

Pic related, it's me in a bikini.

I just posted a picture of myself in a swimsuit on FJ, god help me.
