To be fair, those of us who read the books are just glad to finally have a larger fanbase and people to talk to about it

Some of us are. There are plenty of hipster assholes out there who aren't and go around spreading spoilers like the plague to ruin it for the TV-show watchers.

I refuse to accept hipsters as people though, they are a plague in and of themselves

I told my friend that I just started watching game of thrones and he spoiled it. I didn't tell him I had read the books, and I ruined the rest of the story for him.
Am I a bad person??

And how do you tell someone has not read the book?
Oh, you can tell by them stuffing their minds with dead leftovers of what was great story that's be bastardized as it's interpreted to fit the film or shows runtime dependant on what people want to see, and unfortunately cut out a lot of parts I thought mattered but apperantly don't.

They've stuck to it incredibly well, aside from a few parts. Why don't you tell me some parts that you feel they've either cut out or changed?

I was screwing around, i even called myself out below just for the hell of it.

Though I also haven't seen game of thrones yet, I'm interested but I still busy trying to catch up on Breaking bad, King of the Hill, The Simpsons, and other shows I grew up watching and trying to hear every song made by AC/DC, Marilyn Manson, Metallica, and a few other artists I never given the time until now.
So, it's going to be a while before I start this series.

the second half of that comment was really useless. I don't think a single **** could be given about your cartoon watching and edgy metal taste.

PS calling yourself out wasn't at all funny.

I don't know why it mattered, I just felt like telling him what I do and I did because I ******* can.
And I don't have an edgy metal taste, these are just bands I've been meaning to listen to and only like one or two of their songs.

Not funny, but that wasn't the joke. The joke was I wasn't being a serious fag like you.

That's true. I watch every new episode with a roomate and every now or then I say "That never happened in the book" or "Actually, in the book they never....". I'm trying not to, it's hard, but I'm already somewhat more tolerable than before.

It took George R R Martin five years to write A Dance With Dragons...if he ******* dies before he finishes the series...I wouldnt be able to cope with such absense of closure

I read a series where that happened...."The Whell of Time" series.

The guy writes 11 books, totaling around 3 million words...then promises that the next book will finish the series, no matter how long it has to be....and then dies.

Another guy finished the series, with 3 additional books, based on the writers notes, but still...

He better leave a ******* outline in his will.
Like, real general though so it goes faster.
And then it could be read at his funeral so everyone would know what happens.
