Try 70% of the fanbase. Who do you think kept the sales of the 360 going? Gamers who used it for gaming purposes. They are the largest demographic that purchased the 360, and Microsoft gave them the middle finger.

I'm pretty sure that the amount of Xbox owners who don't have an internet connection is less then 70%....

Agreed. Hate to say it... nothing is better than PC gaming (hold your rage, and keep reading), XboxOne is trying to be a highly intelligent computer, an interactive computer, no longer a gaming system, look at their whole scheme... but thats the thing, on pc you can actually download games and play offline... And it is every companies dream, an unpiratetable system which is always advertising perfectly to fit your mood, preferences, etc.. It is the future; too early, and not controlled.

The PS4 on the other hand is just a gaming system, nothing extravagant, what we expect of them. If I didn't have my PC, my choice would be the PS4, simply because microsoft is trying to control the next genre of entertainment and is abusing the monopoly.

*TL/DR*
**** you, read it
#422 to #377 - anon (06/13/2013) [-]
i imagine in 100 years that the world will be divided among the PC users and Xbox users.

There will be 2 different kinds of internet and 1 of them will be controled by xbox while the other by PC. PC users shall be considered terrorists among the xbox users while we consider ourselves freedom fighters. There will be many virtual wars in which PC users send viruses to xbox users and vice versa. The RIAA and NSA ally themselves with the xbox to attack the "terrorists" pirates of PC users. They want the PC destroyed and start launching missles at the satilytes.

While this is happening, PC users have cracked into the xbox internet system and begin to attack it from the inside out. This comes know to be WW3, the xbox employees develop tracking software that gets implented to track down the crackers, and they go to their house and assassinate them. Meanwhile the internet service for the PC users gets repaired and we retaliate by launching nukes to the xbox servers.

People who make video games are humans too and need money to live. It's their full time job and without selling their game they would go broke.
I like to support good companies who make good video games, pirating their games is ******* wrong. And the whole DRM thing started cuz of people like you who keep pirating.
I have a PS3 and a good gaming PC (soon a PS4). I buy all my games and I'm happy to support companies who make great games.
#296 to #285 - anon (06/13/2013) [-]
Sometimes people can't afford all of these new games coming out and maybe they want to try the game before they buy it. See, you shouldn't generalize piracy and the people who pirate to thieves, most pirates I know pirate games to try them out and if they like it they buy it, if they don't they delete it.
The people who pirate games 24/7 and don't pay for them are pieces of **** though.
User avatar #301 to #296 - infernozoo (06/13/2013) [-]
I agree with you. I don't mind if you pirate a game to try it out (specially if it doesn't have a demo) then decide whether to purchase it or delete it.
But I know people who can afford getting new games (especially with those insane steam sales) and keep pirating then they feel cool by playing games without paying a cent. Those get on my nerves.
#387 to #301 - anon (06/13/2013) [-]

You realize that the reason Microsoft did the whole used game thing is because developers receive no money off people buying used games. If you really wanna support developers then you should buy new games in which case the Xbox restriction crap shouldn't even matter to you.

It doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is that Microsoft erroneously believes it has the right to regulate how/when/where you can use the products you have legally purchased. And none of this 'leasing the system' ************ you buy a goddamn video game console, that ************* console belongs to you. Y'know what that means? It means you can legally do anything you damn well want with it, so long as it infringes on no-one else's personal rights. You can set the thing on FIRE and there is not a goddamn thing anyone in the world can legally do to stop you (provided you aren't lighting it up in a forest or a public park or some ********* assuming you're using common sense).
#589 to #504 - methirtyseven (06/14/2013) [-]
It's not the point that you're leasing the system. You're leasing the games. You can use the system however much you please, although setting it on fire seems a bit extreme, but the games are licensed to you. And Microsoft are well within their rights to dictate how you use their intellectual property.
User avatar #591 to #589 - KazumaKyu (06/14/2013) [-]
I don't even understand how they're getting away with this nonsense. Leasing the games? It's a video game, not a car! The gaming industry has enough problems with entitled ******* developers/publishers thinking they deserve more than what they receive from the first sale as it is (i.e. Steam), and now M$ is trying to tell me that I don't own the product I've purchased? ******** , that game is mine just like every other game I've ever bought, and again I can do with it whatever I please. The simple fact of the matter is that M$' consumers are going to come down on this like a ******* hammer, and hopefully that will send a message to every publisher and dev in the industry that you can't pull this kind of **** and expect to make a profit. It is my sincere hope that the Xbone flops magnificently and takes out the gaming division of M$ in a storm of shame and failure.

Because in the end? If we let them get away with this ******** , what's to stop them from grabbing for even more things they have no right to? Before Steam and the like started popping up, the idea that you didn't own a game you'd bought would have been ludicrous. Suddenly now it's okay that these assholes are taking away the fundamental right to ownership of that which is yours by purchase? I say it isn't, and I really hope people show M$ that they can't just force feed us their **** and expect us to swallow like good little slaves.
User avatar #592 to #591 - KazumaKyu (06/14/2013) [-]

im guessing its more off everything after that 24 hours is a desperate struggle to get online

You just connect back to your internet. Nothing bad happens other than not being able to play games while it is offline for longer than 24 hours. There is no hidden charge, fee or punishment. Don't listen to retards.

Not being able to play the game that I bought (with which I can legally do anything I want, because it's mine and I bought it with my own goddamn money) is 'punishment' enough, to be perfectly frank.
User avatar #490 to #15 - awesomenessdefined (06/14/2013) [-]
It says It can't host a connection or something and tells you to connect. You then either get your disc, put it in the device, or quit your game.

The rest of it still works. Like say, the Bluray drive.

When you get internet, it's activated again, and can be played until the net goes off and 24 hours passes.
#39 to #15 - anon (06/13/2013) [-]
You have to connect ONCE every 24 hours, once you make the connection you will be allowed to play offline for another 24 hours. If you miss the 24 hour deadline, all you have to do is reconnect to the internet to get another 24 hour offline timer.

The xbox one check if you have access to a game via his server. If you don't connect in 24h, the system won't be able to check if you still have the game, and it won't let you play.

but hey, YOU CAN STILL WATCH TV
User avatar #26 to #16 - lizardnigger (06/13/2013) [-]
you can now watch tv
on your tv
******* magic

I still don't understand, they're not stupid enough to disable all games indefinitely just because you went on holiday for more than 24 hours, surely you just have to log on and verify stuff.
User avatar #85 to #31 - nexuser (06/13/2013) [-]
I think it's just that nothing will work until it s verified again sort of thing, so like after you come back, it automatically verifies the connection and continues... It's still a ******* awful concept though
User avatar #186 to #85 - trollwoopnazi (06/13/2013) [-]
To put it quite simply, you must be online to play games.
#18 to #16 - namffuh (06/13/2013) [-]
Even if I have the disc in the system?
User avatar #20 to #18 - sadaros (06/13/2013) [-]
Think of the Disc as a serial key for the xbone, all games have to be installed and they have to check the servers to see if you have the "rights" to play the game
#25 to #18 - paradoxpoetic (06/13/2013) [-]
They kind of turned the disc into something similar for a computer, with online requirements. A game I can think of like this off the top of my head is C&C 4, with the movable command bases. After using the disc to install the game, you then must maintain an internet connection to play the game. This was, no game can be played on two different computers/consoles simultaneously. And yes, if you don't check in I'm sure they'll give you a warning and will halt the process of the game should you not comply.
#19 to #18 - anon (06/13/2013) [-]
pretty much, if you don't have any connection 24 hours after it checked with the server last time you won't be able to play.
User avatar #21 to #19 - tiddycats (06/13/2013) [-]
Just curious, how would you go about fixing that? Would you have to call their support center or something?

Please don't tell me you really are going to buy an xbox one......They have already said that if you want to buy a used game, you will have to pay the full price of a new release to microsoft. Just let this company's gaming department go down in flames already.

Get your **** right before you spout off lol. First thing all game transfers can be completed once free of charge(and once you trade/sell your game do you really care if they can trade it?) and it's not the full price of the game it's a small fee, or they are gonna do a monthly/yearly thing. Get your facts right dinkface.
User avatar #65 to #49 - musclemarinade (06/13/2013) [-]
You enjoying micro$oft's cock down your throat? Because it sure as hell sounds as if it's pretty deep in there. they haven't stated what the fee will be dumb **** . I've read on a leak site that for new release games it would be close to the full price of the game. Open up your eyes before Micro$oft goes in dry on release day.
User avatar #69 to #65 - daveyishere (06/13/2013) [-]
As I said get your facts right, do you really care that the person you give/sell/trade a game too that they can't do the same without paying? And if it's a new release that usually means you get it new lol so again no fee. So are you just making up lies or simply downright retarted?
User avatar #17 to #15 - strun (06/13/2013) [-]
You'll probably have to slide your credit card in it I'd imagine.
