fled to the village after world War ll, that the births started happening. Oddly
enough Mengele was known to have a strange fascination with twins Modern
scientists, however, propose that it is most likely due to toxic waste or inbreeding
Either way, its pretty creepy.

You left out one of the best ones. The Cincinnati Subway. In the early 1920s an entire subway network was built under the city of Cincinnati, Ohio but was never completed due to finances. They didn't even finish laying the tracks. Interestingly, the entire network of tunnels still exist in complete darkness underneath the city and have never been used.

I'm actually freaked out to near tears... The "British Sea Forts", I have literally never in my life, seen a photo or knew about these... but I had a dream about something extremely similar to them. My dream was that the water level rose around the world and forced some people to leave some of the mainlands to live out at sea, and I just so happened to be apart of a group that did that. Living in buildings that looked damn near exactly the same as the ones in the photo. Only with a more "make shift" look to them not as industrial.

I'm seriously spooked right now. Just looks to ******* similar to my dream.
User avatar #110 to #91 - peggscott (06/07/2013) [-]
Its possible that you may have just glimpsed them somewhere... Like on a tv as you walked past for 2 seconds without paying attention... The brain is pretty amazing like that, like how no face is made up in your dreams, supposedly its all real people you see, even if you only seen them once by just walking past them and not even glancing at them...
User avatar #195 to #110 - toxickooties (06/07/2013) [-]
Maybe, what ever the case is... it freaked me out.
#98 to #91 - abudabiprinceman (06/07/2013) [-]
It's possible you've seen the film waterworld or seen clips of it without remembering, in that film pretty much what you described has happened and they live in what looks like makeshifty versions of those sea forts
User avatar #99 to #98 - toxickooties (06/07/2013) [-]
I've actually seen water world a few times. I was going to mention it in my comment. But water world had LARGE man made islands. There were never any "forts" shown in the movie, like these. I know what you're trying to get at. But I have to disagree.

What I saw in my dream was nothing like Water World. They honestly looked very similar to these Sea Forts.

Also in my dream some of the mainland was still there. It wasn't like in the movie where it was just one island that still happened to be around.

I live not far from Whittingham Asylum in Goosenargh. It's an old abandoned mental hospital.
It's a massive structure that had several buildings, including a couple of chapels, a ballroom and theatre and even its own railway station.
It was founded in 1869 and closed down in 1995. In the 1960's there was an abuse scandal where it was found that patients had been abused and some had even died. Some examples of the abuse were patients that had wet towels wrapped around their necks until they passed out and some patients had been set alight by the orderlies.
Me and a friend went there about 2 years ago to check it out. It can be difficult to get in, as they get a lot of trespassers and so are constantly putting up more fences.
We found our way in and spent a couple of hours exploring.
It's pretty creepy in there, lots of rubbish about, abandoned hospital furniture, paint and wallpaper peeling off the walls. Most of the roof and some of the floors are missing.
Whilst there, we found a small room that had lots of empty medicine bottles (glass bottles with ml markings), and part of a roll of old film in one of the rooms (when held up to the light, you could see a man sat behind a desk with a woman stood behind him).
All in all, pretty creepy.

TL;DR: Check out Whittingham Asylum on Google, some pretty creepy images and the history of the hospital.

Pic related, it's one of the corridors inside the hospital.
