Scandinavia is Norway, Denmark and Sweden. You are thinking of the Nordic countries which consists of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden and their associated territories, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Svalbard and Åland.
People often use Scandinavia as a synonym for the Nordic countries, even though it's wrong.
User avatar #14 to #11 - christmouth (06/04/2013) [-]
I personally think that Scandinavia only consists of Denmark, Norway and Sweden, because these three countries have share the same language(more or less), history and culture, but I would understand that If some Swedish-Finns think that Finland also are a part of Scandinavia, because Finland was part of Sweden for such a long time, but don't share their thoughts.
User avatar #15 to #14 - gonzoen (06/04/2013) [-]
What about Iceland?
User avatar #16 to #15 - christmouth (06/04/2013) [-]
Iceland isn't located in the Scandinavian Peninsula, which covers Denmark, Sweden, Norway and some parts of Finland. They are part of the Nordic countries which consists of Iceland, Faroe Islands, Greenland, the Scandinavian countries, Svalbard and Åland.
User avatar #18 to #16 - gonzoen (06/04/2013) [-]
Denmark isn't part of the Scandinavian Peninsula, but it is part of the Scandinavian culture, as is Iceland.
User avatar #19 to #18 - christmouth (06/04/2013) [-]
Yes, I was mistaken. Denmark Is part of Scandinavia, probably because, I don't know for sure, it has ruled over Norway and also for being part of the Kalmar Union. It also share the same language, but with a different dialect. If Iceland would been part of Scandinavia, then the Faroe Islands should too, which they are not, but instead they are under sovereignty of Denmark.
#100 to #19 - xeropad (06/05/2013) [-]
Finland is part of scandinavia.

We call the group of Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark for Skandinavien. (Scandinavia.)
And when you add Iceland it's called "Norden" which would be North/Nordic in english!
User avatar #127 to #100 - lodisboeg (06/05/2013) [-]
How bout looking it up instead of bitching back and forth?

Finland can be a part of Scandinavia by some definitions, but is not in the strictest sense a part of it. And regardless Finland has got a lot of common history with Sweden and the rest of the "real" Scandinavia.

Finland is a great country, from what I know. Among other things, it has Europe's(if not the world's) best educational system. I'm Norwegian and I'm proud to have Finland as one of my neighbours.
User avatar #135 to #85 - archosaurusrev (06/05/2013) [-]
I'm Finnish, so here's some pointers:

**** gun and self defense laws.
Tons of immigration.
Tons of young hooligans.
Retarded politicians.
Country leaning constantly to the left.

Only real good things are the education, I also think its very good, and most teachers are not that bad here.
User avatar #137 to #135 - alleksi ONLINE (06/05/2013) [-]
Tons of immigration.
Have you seen sweden? or france? or any other country for that matter? There isn't all that many immigrants in finland when compared to other countries, most of them live in southern finland so that's why it may seem like there's an abundance of them

Tons of young hooligans.
Retarded politicians.

These are also the cases in every other country
User avatar #138 to #137 - archosaurusrev (06/05/2013) [-]
Every country in Scandinavia suffers from those, doesn't mean that Finland is any better.
User avatar #144 to #138 - alleksi ONLINE (06/05/2013) [-]
Immigration isn't something you suffer from.

Hooligans and stupid politicians are things that you just got to deal with.
User avatar #145 to #144 - archosaurusrev (06/05/2013) [-]
Well, immigration brings jobs and money, but when it comes to a point like it is in Europe where the native/longest lived in the area people are becoming the majority, then you and your culture starts to suffer from it.
User avatar #148 to #145 - alleksi ONLINE (06/05/2013) [-]
I assume you meant minority

That can be a problem, but it's very unlikely and I don't think that has yet to happen in any European country. USA is the only place where that has probably happened.

The thing is, that if it does happen, it would have happened in such a long period of time, that the native culture that the country had would have been transformed into a mishmash of multiple different cultures influenced by all of the different nationalities living in the country.
User avatar #149 to #148 - archosaurusrev (06/05/2013) [-]
Yeah, I did.
Just woke up and was up till 5AM...

Britain is a prime candidate, in 10 years they could very well be the minority.
And its not that the cultures mend over the years ala. Great Alexander's influence in Afghanistan, its that in the modern world they get forced.
User avatar #173 to #135 - baltman (06/05/2013) [-]
>retarded libtard politicians
This is why a lot of white native people from Scandinavia now are fleeing to Iceland. I'm on my way as well. **** this, Europe is completely ruined by libtards and mudslims.
