I hate religion as a whole, so I find the above picture funny, and your picture funny also.

One thing I have noticed, Christians can take being ripped to shreds to a certain extent, but Muslims **** themselves over anything remotely negative about their religion.

My dear do you expect that just because they call themselves an "Islamic Court" that means they follow the rules of Islam?!

I have heard about that one actually. Those people are disgusting.

But anyways, the Quran states that for a person to be punished of adultery, there must be AT LEAST 4 eye-witnesses, who have witnessed the act AT THE SAME TIME.

This made it practically impossible for humans to punish humans for adultery. Do the fools in Pakistan and wherever follow these laws? NO!

They make up their own BS things.
AND THAT WAS ABOUT ADULTERY, where there is consent between the two parties. As far mater like rape, verdict is clear. There is a criminal and victim. The victim is free of any criticism, and the rapist criminal is the only one to be punished severely.

Well, I've met plenty that do. A lot of the disgusting hicks in my town are homophobic, racist bigots, who also claim that they are good Christians. What the **** gives them the right to choose which parts of the bible hold true?

"Homosexuals are sinners and should go to hell, it says so in the old testament."
"Ok, but the old testament also says you can't wear clothing made of multiple types of fabric."
"Oh my god, shut the **** up, that's the old testament, it doesn't count."

tl;dr Christianity is too often used as a medium for ignorance, hatred, and bigotry.

I actually go to a Christian church that has no problems with gay people at all.....I've met gay Christians.
User avatar #88 to #83 - hueyfreeman (05/30/2013) [-]
Yeah, I understand, that's why I said " too often". Not always. Some people actually understand the message that Christianity is trying to portray, "love thy neighbor" and all that, but there are also groups (down here in the southern states particularly) with a distorted image of the bible, who pick out which ones to ignore and which ones to follow, specifically targeting the ones that forbid things they disapprove of, such as gay marriage. The only reason there are Christian bigots is because there are ignorant people, and they don't want to admit it, lest they be revealed to be the ignorant assholes they truly are, is because they think gay people are gross. They use Christianity as an excuse to oppress gay people, because they don't like gay people.

tl;dr not everyone does, but a lot do.

23 If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her, 24 you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death—the young woman because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and the man because he violated another man’s wife. You must purge the evil from among you.

25 But if out in the country a man happens to meet a young woman pledged to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die. 26 Do nothing to the woman; she has committed no sin deserving death. This case is like that of someone who attacks and murders a neighbor, 27 for the man found the young woman out in the country, and though the betrothed woman screamed, there was no one to rescue her.

28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels[c] of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

A few things to consider people were married as young as 5 most of the time you were engaged before you were born. If you weren't engaged most likely it was because the other family broke it off which had to be approved (or your family broke it off). Verse 23 says nothing about rape it says they will both be stoned because it was consensual. Yes if you rape an unengaged woman you pay her father a fine, then marry her, and cannot divorce her. No one would want a non virgin for a wife that's just how things were so by forcing the rapist to marry her (rapists wouldn't want to marry her because that means supporting her forever they just wanted sex hence why they raped her they could have married her easily by talking to her dad) she at least won't starve. I know ****** solution to an easy to fix problem good thing Christians don''t follow the old testament anymore and technically never did because Christianity came around in the new testament
User avatar #133 to #14 - myrtille ONLINE (05/30/2013) [-]
Plus, it would probably deter rapists from raping women if they knew they'd be forced to live with the woman for the rest of their seems like a way to make them think about it first.
Like, "Okay so you raped her, now you have to live with the woman you raped who hates every fiber of your being and she will always hate you and you can't get rid of her EVER."
I think that's supposed to be the punishment for the man

Very well done, also, let us not forget a story from the early bible (too lazy to find it right now) A man rapes a woman from another town that he likes, and then asks her father to marry her. So her brothers, convince them that the wedding is on, but the entire town needs to be circumcised. So the 'enemy' town circumcises themselves and then the two brothers go in while they're bleeding from the junk and kill every single one to avenge their sisters humiliation.
User avatar #70 to #19 - unoriginalaccount (05/30/2013) [-]

But I've never heard it as a Christian story.
#115 to #71 - lastkingofx (05/30/2013) [-]
The Jewish Torah became the old testament of the bible. Jewish story became, christian story. The point of that was that never in the bible did god or anyone else condone the rape of a woman.
User avatar #111 to #14 - munchlord (05/30/2013) [-]
It should also be noted that if she was married to her rapist, she actually wasn't required to live with him. She just couldn't marry someone else. He, however, would be required to support her and provide for her no matter where she lived.

Yes, biblical laws suck by today's standards, but this part was actually pretty progressive for women's rights for the time they were written (since women had no rights at all back then). This is coming from a non-religious person BTW:
User avatar #37 to #14 - drewbridge (05/30/2013) [-]
Exactly. People only want to hear that Christians are rapists and OK with rape, nothing like how this was law given specifically to the Israelites to protect them as a people, or that Jesus died and removed the Old Law.

If you actually read the Bible, you'd know that the law is made in the first place to show that humanity can't keep the law. God modifies it not because it was meant to be perfect, but to adjust it because it was necessary for what was to come.

You missed the importance of my statement: God didn't adjust the laws because He was imperfect, or realized that the law wasn't perfect after the fact, but because the law at the time was appropriate, and changed it when it wasn't. If He wanted the law to remain the same in a society that no longer needed it, it would be directly controlling the society itself, which goes against free will.
