That was honestly nearly me yesterday. I was told that if I attended their college, I must follow a biology career because I was capable at it and doing a design degree was a terrible option.

I chose the latter. A toast funnyjunk, to being a happy poor-arse.

Just pick a large section of job options rather than one specific job.
At this point, I've decided it's either going to be math based or science based since those are the most well paid for and every job uses them, that and I can always become a meth dealer if everything doesn't pan out.

I'm majoring in Environmental Science, so I'll be making between 40-70 K a year doing something that I love, and something that helps make the world a better place for everybody.

God, that is exactly what pisses me off.

I hate it when parents treat their children like... well, children; they don't give them any responsibilities or prospects or give them any opportunities to better themselves, at the same time squashing the child's own ambitions for what they want to do when they grow up because the parents deem it "unprofitable".

All the while, the parents are sheltering them from the rest of the world all the way up until they're 17, when they automatically expect them to know what that kid wants to do FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE when they graduate from high school in one year, even though they were never given a chance to explore the playing field to begin with.

TL;DR Parents who baby their children for their entire life and don't give them a chance to develop any skills until they're seniors in high school and are forced to join the real world make me mad.

Good god are you ******* serious I'm in high school and I'm at the age where everyone's telling me I should have chosen a profession by now and dammit the fear described in this post has just lain its roots inside of me because of you.
