Why does everyone think they have "OCD" because they dislike one thing that's out of place? Isn't it just human nature to want something balanced?

Exactly. While I am OCD there are certain things that bother me as a person completely aside from my OCD. For example my mom had these pictures hanging, 2 of the same landscape essentially, one with a lion staring to the right, and one with an elephant staring to the left, with a mirror in between. She had it with the animals staring in different directions with the sun from either also on different sides as well as a tree. Then she sat and talked all kind of **** about how I obsess over dumb **** and need to stop being so anal, all because I switched them and said it looked better that way.

Terrible drawing is what they look like. The top is the after, the bottom is the before.

If you truly had OCD, you wouldn't be here. You'd be flicking each light switch in your house 5 times, following by drinking 5 glasses of water.

I always check my alarm 3 or more times and each time I say "07:00 - ON" twice to myself... And I have it with a few more things, which have failed me.

What AM I?

I wouldn't have a problem with the frame being straightened. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is just that. Leaning. If that's how it's supposed to look, then there shouldn't be an issue.

All of these stupid ass mental disabilities are just complete ********. People are just weak minded, half of these ***** that people get diagnosed with aren't real. They're over exaggerating their problems. Everyone has issues, just shut the **** up and deal with it. Man the **** up. Do you think the great men who built this Nation said "I can't work on the trans continental railroad today...i'm sad..." No! They were actually real men and tough and powered through it! ADD and ADHD are the 2 most over diagnosed things for kids there are... stop making excuses and learn some ******* self control. You also people with OCD. ******* control yourself and stop being weak minded.

Okay, then in that case, allow me to explain.

You are experiencing a mental disconnect with these people. Your lack of empathy is the only way you know how to think. That is the only way they know how to think. They do not have control over it.

Depression, for example, isn't just some emo kid complaining about their life. It is a chemical imbalance in the brain that they have literally no control over, regardless of how much they will themselves to be happier.

No it just means that they get sad... like everyone else. We need to stop making up excuses so people can feel special. People get sad, everyone does, it's not uncommon or special. Get over yourself. Move on. Stop bitching about your chemicals and ****. No body gives a ****.

You can't ******* read, yet you call, other people retarded?

You ever seen an MRI?

That's brain activity, jackass. You can only control your cognitive abilities, not everything. That means people with mental disorders CANNOT CONTROL their subconscious. You are literally denying decades of proven scientific research.

It's not about self control. It's about having the actual inability to shed the effects of their disorder.

Imagine being born without arms. You can't just will yourself to have arms again. No matter how hard you try, you have a defect that you cannot get rid of.

A physical disability is completely different from a mental disability. You can and should over come a mental block. All i'm hearing is excuses... "bu-but... MAH CHEMICALS IN MAH BRAIN! DEY MAKE ME SAD!" Shut the **** up you whinny little bitch... god damn I hate soft people. Toughen up.

I've figured it out. You yourself apparently have a mental disorder:

You're ******* retarded.

Google "mental disorder" and you'll find decades upon decades of research disproving your retarded theory.

When you find out how wrong you are, I genuinely hope that you have nothing left to do but wallow in your own mindblowing stupidity.

For the good of the human race, don't reproduce, you ignorant, closed-minded, retarded, dickface.

I have ADD and my Uncle has OCD. ADHD is far over diagnosed, but in my case it is real. It's not necessarily a deficit, as it is a different... set of wiring. Like, everybody is a PC and I'm a mac (****** metaphor, but only one I can think of right now). I find it hard to get motivated for things, but when I am motivated, I'm over focused and make sure it is the best thing ever made or done. My uncle is one of the best architects in the West coast and always get rave reviews for his attention to details.

I have a problem with motivation too, like you.
If I'm motivated, I'm so focused to do the best that I can. Sometimes I get stuck in Photoshop and I can't decide if I should use saturation +5 or +6 (example). I get so ******* mad and stressful because of that. I mean, they don't differ almost AT ALL but I still can't ******* decide!... But most of the time I'm not motivated at all.

Well, maybe not over diagnosed. I in 10 people have a serious mental health issue, and around the same, if not more, spend time in an institution. People didn't know about ADD then, and hence didn't diagnose it. Most people have some form or degree of, not matter how little, ocd, add, adhd etc. Lots of people just get on and deal with it. Others I have known need pills to calm it. Remember 50 years ago when gays were admitted to metal hospitals? Don't bring up ******** points because you're ignorant.

It is over diagnosed. Like you said 1 in 10 people have whatever, but they ******* DEAL WITH IT like they should. Don't go using it as an excuse. Power through it. Work even harder than the average person to focus. Control your urges, it's all about self control. Don't be weak minded. Those people you know who need to take pills are weak.

Well yeah, I used to have severe OCD, I worked through it, I'd even say I don't have it. Never took pills, my family just taught me to deal with it. I agree with that, but the kid I knew who took pills was severely effected, he was close to being sectioned I think
