I grew up near Chicago and called them pill bugs.
And I remember whenever some cheeky ************ blurted out "rollie pollies" it would make my tiny 8-year-old mind so irrationally furious that I'm honestly surprised I wasn't a more violent child. Seriously, I've been grounded from Nintendo, pushed off off my bike, had my holographic Mewtwo card tumble-dried into bits of pulp; and yet I can't remember anything pissing me off more than the mongoloids across the street shouting "rollie pollies!".

Granted, it was usually the same asshole that used to get Cheeto dust/spit all over my controllers, so that very likely had a lot to do with it.
