I really don't understand why people are so bitchy about this. "OMG, they didn't show gameplay its all I wanted." Stop crying over it. You'll see game-play at E3, the release was based around the console and it's new functions. So of course they are going to show off the new stuff that the console is capable of instead of blasting you with a couple hours of gameplay that shows nothing other than the games.

I mean really, are we this simple? Of course the ******* console is going to play video games. I for one look forward to skype, especially if it can be used to talk to someone playing PC. I like the Xbox controller the way it is so I'm grateful it wasn't changed. As for the whole kinect stuff, its not going to be spying on you, so stop being a bunch of paranoid jackasses.

In the case of backwards compatibility, PS3 isn't capable of it either so stop using it as fodder. We already pay for online so its nothing new. You're not going to be charged for used games, there is no way they could actually do that without overstepping some boundaries. You won't have to have it activated every 24 hours either, that would be idiotic for them to assume people can get on their console that frequently.

So in short, you're all being completely unreasonable and jumping to conclusions.

It does have to connect every 24 hours. The vice president of Microsoft himself confirmed it.

And while it doesn't charge for used games, they demand money from game retailers every time a used game is sold (some articles say they demand 90% of the money made), which will surely bring up the price of used games because gamestop and the like need more than 10%.

Well yeah, of course its going to play video games. Its going to play FIFA and Madden and Call of Duty. All things that are going to be offered on PS4, which is clearly designed around playing those games instead of acting as a middle man for a cable box that I already pay for and use to watch TV. And so far, they have shown zero gameplay for any exclusives, while Sony had already shown gameplay for 5 exclusives all the way back in February.

If anyone wants to explain to me why I'm getting thumbed down for making valid points that'd be great. I've been making these points all week and I've never been thumbed down for it.

I guess its not cool to hate on Xbone anymore despite nothing about it changing. Well, I must have forgotten that everything on funnyjunk has to be a part of a trend that lasts no more than 4 days, so I guess we're going into the xbox one love phase.
User avatar #219 to #89 - reaperssprint (05/27/2013) [-]
You're being thumbed down because you did not make any valid points. You simply cried more that gameplay wasn't shown. There are several months before the console is released, you'll see plenty of gameplay in that amount of time.

"I guess its not cool to hate on Xbone anymore despite nothing about it changing."

This right here is another example of your red thumbs. "not cool to hate" this shows me that you simply jumped along the band wagon and assumed you'd get green thumbs by hating on the console.

"Xbone" is yet another reason you are getting red thumbs. Any valid reason you may have possibly came up with is instantly nullified by the use of immature pet names.

My point being, you need to grow up a little before returning to reply to me. When you are able to string together sentences that don't indicate that you have yet to graduate from the need for thumbs then I'll feel fit to acknowledge your opinion.
User avatar #225 to #219 - indecisivejew (05/27/2013) [-]
I don't care that I got thumbed down. I was just pointing out how moronic it was that I have so many people disagreeing with the same points that I have been getting praise for in every other xbox related post I've commented on here and on other sites.

I also fail to see how citing the fact that no gameplay was shown is not a valid point. Surely it is no less a legitimate point than the one that you are trying to make. "You'll see plenty of gameplay in that amount of time" Praising the console for something that you assume its creators will do is idiotic. The only rational way to examine the console and its potential is to analyze the information that has been given to us officially.

Lastly, I don't think that taking into account the maturity level of a person whom you have never met in an argument that is not even slightly related to the person is any more mature than using a simple abbreviation. An argument is based on facts and well-formed opinions, not on unfounded slander of the opposing party, especially when the opposing party is a person that you know nothing about.

First you forgot the Xbox exclusive games such as Halo. You're now getting thumbed down because the paranoia that the XBox haters (Lacking a better word I had to resort to using a word associated with 12 girls) have been spreading around.
User avatar #137 to #131 - indecisivejew (05/26/2013) [-]
There hasn't been a Halo game announced. They have only announced 2 exclusives for Xbox One; Forza 5 and Quantum Break, both of which did not have any gameplay shown.

a reasonable and well thought out argument on the internet?
Well **** ...
#51 to #46 - hellfiazz (05/26/2013) [-]
Here's some more stuff we don't like about the XBOne:

You cannot play used games, if you put them in your system you have to play the full retail price to play them.

You need to connect to the internet once a day. Not only that, but the XBOne allows games to require a constant internet connection. All of this for singleplayer.

If the Kinect is removed or broken, you cannot play on the console. You need it to play on a console.

This is just a portion of the problems with the XBOne.
User avatar #220 to #51 - reaperssprint (05/27/2013) [-]
I'll say the same thing I said for indecisivejew. Your use of names like "Xbone" nullifies the validity of your statements. I don't care what you have to say until you can hold a mature and reasonable discussion.

Sure, its true that these things have appeared in discussions, it does not make them 100%. For you to actually believe some of the information you are looking at to be true to a key is sad in itself. Microsoft is not going to risk their stock and sales to simply hold more control over the gamers.
#231 to #220 - hellfiazz (05/27/2013) [-]
So you're going to throw away an entire argument because of an abbreviation? Are abbreviations now an automatic indicator om immaturity? I'm guessing the use of them in chemical formulas is immature, right? Or algebra? Seriously, get a grip.

These things haven't "appeared in discussions". They've been explicitly stated by Microsoft members. And it's already too late for your last sentence: the XBOne has had massive negativity, everywhere, and I'm really not joking, during it's reveal, Sony sales skyrocketed.
User avatar #224 to #220 - indecisivejew (05/27/2013) [-]
Calling it XBone is exactly the same as calling the previous console the XB360. It is not immature in the slightest, and it in know way invalidates any points. Have you just never argued on the internet or something? You seem to have very little grasp on how people actually communicate and how actual points are made. And, as you clearly were not paying close enough attention to the microsoft news, I feel somewhat obligated to inform you that all of his statements were confirmed to be at the least strong possibilities for the console by Xbox VPs. The near-constant internet connection for single player use was confirmed in a Kotaku interview and the used game and kinect connectivity were detailed in an interview done by Adam Sessler for Rev3 games.
User avatar #84 to #51 - durkadurka ONLINE (05/26/2013) [-]
I highly doubt the kinect is absolutely required for the console to function.

because IGN has ever been a reliable source of information
User avatar #75 to #51 - afatkid (05/26/2013) [-]
None of these things are official. It's all paranoid conjecture.
User avatar #81 to #75 - indecisivejew (05/26/2013) [-]
Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that its not true. These statements were made by Microsoft VPs directly after their conference. The only thing he got wrong was that the actual quote said that you would need to connect to the internet about every 24 hours for single player use, so it isn't technically always online.
#76 to #75 - hellfiazz (05/26/2013) [-]
They're not, they've all been stated by members of the Xbox team, some of them from Microsoft's creative director.
User avatar #80 to #76 - afatkid (05/26/2013) [-]
If you can give me a link to a legitimate source that isn't some random blogger then I'll believe you.
#85 to #80 - hellfiazz (05/26/2013) [-]
Well, here's the creative director talking about the internet connection:

And here's a link to a "commentation" of the Xbox One, and they have sources listed there:
You need to login to view this link
User avatar #221 to #85 - reaperssprint (05/27/2013) [-]
First link, right in the text itself. Try reading your articles.
"although that hasn’t been confirmed yet"

Here's the problem as well. From what I see people here think that the console will magically stop working if they aren't connected. I can tell you this right now. The "connection required" is most likely going to be for downloads and updates. You will be able to play as much as you like offline, the console will not magically stop working if you do not connect.

Along this as well, if you play games as much as you let on then this should not be a problem. Every time I go onto my Xbox, I allow it to connect automatically. So needing to be connected every so often is not a real problem. Again, my conclusion is that you are simply overreacting and making groundless assumptions.
#230 to #221 - hellfiazz (05/27/2013) [-]
None of my "assumptions" have been groundless. They all have their bases in things members of Microsoft have said. The connection required is once every 24 hours, which has come from something a Microsoft member has said. Many people don't have access to internet connections, and what if your internet goes down, or Microsoft's servers are down? You then cannot play on even singleplayer games for each day until they fix the servers or you get Internet access.

Not once have I said that the XBOne will stop working without an internet connection. What I have said is that you need to login once every 24 hours, and if problems occur which prevent you from doing so, you can't go on your "console".
