I'm french and I confirm it's Omelette au fromage.

Some of our words are equal to only one in English :
e.g. : Le, La, Les = The

They thumbd you down because you missed the joke completely.

Yes it IS Omelette au Fromage but the whole point is that it makes no sense anyway.

To the guy who thumbed him down : he's right, "Du" can also mean "Some" when it's something that can't be counted.

Omelette au fromage, c'est la formulation correcte.

Learn that, and you'll be truly awesome =')

At least, for us, french people.

not exactly true. I mean literally it is, but you don't make omelets out of cheese alone, and any frenchman is going to understand what you mean when you order omelet du fromage.

So quit trying to be a smart-ass

It's the same as going to america and asking for a "buger from cheese" instead of a cheeseburger
Of course people get what you mean but you sound retarded

thats ********. The literal translation is omelet of cheese. But the french way of saying cheese omelette simply is omelette du fromage. at least that's how we learned it at school, and when I visit paris nobody seems to have any problems with it either.

Dude, I am french just stop arguing already.
Omelette du fromage is just wrong, no one says that. You say "omelette au fromage" and that's it.
Also omelette du fromage litteraly is "Omelette from the cheese" or "omelette of the cheese" (without the "the" it would be "omelette de fromage" which makes a tiny bit more sense but is still wrong) or "omelette some cheese".

Alrighty then. I guess I remembered it completely wrong. sorry if I came off a little harsh, had a ****** weekend. Waiters must've been laughing their ass off everytime I tried ordering in French.

Just to get things straight, its correct to order "du café" right? I'm visiting marseille this summer so every bit of knowledge helps.

Sorry again!

Omlette au fromage means its an omelette made entirely out of cheese no eggs, omelette du fromage means omelette with cheese, just like glace au chocolat mean chocolate ice cream, while glace de chocolat means regular ice cream with chocolate on it

that, apparently, is very bad.
