"Blue eyes are a genetic mutation" You're kidding me, right? So are brown eyes, and eyes in general, and every other part of your ******* body. Genetic mutation is just evolution in one of its forms. Stupid fact.

eyes are a mutation, were we blind before then? brown eyes aren't a mutation seeing as that it is the "original" eye color and a genetic mutation isn't evolution in its own form evolution revolves around genetic mutations and evolution is just a long term result of evolution. when it says blue eyes are a mutation it means a mutation that creates a phenotype that is different from brown

saved me the trouble of posting that.

I can already tell that I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for this, but you're wrong. Every part of your body is formed normally (ideally, that is). What this guy is implying is that the alleles that determine eye color had something happen to them that is out of the norm.

What are you talking about? We would have some sort of genetic mutation, whether it be longer fingers, opposable thumbs etc, and the ones that are beneficial tend to stick, while ones that are detrimental will mean that the person with it is less likely to mate. Eye colour is seen as attractive by quite a few people, so it's a mutation that gets carried around. If you could make yourself more clear as to what you're talking about, I might understand what you're getting at.

Oh, ok. I'm saying that blue eyes was a mutation, but once it gets into the gene pool, it behaves like any other eye color, therefore it isn't a mutation. Now, if there isn't some sort of weird mutation every time someone ends up with blue eyes, then the fact was wrong. I don't know one way or the other, but what I'm saying is that the fact does not mean it once was a mutation.

I didn't know that, so tenically we are all mutants?

just wondering
User avatar #237 to #233 - punnyjunky ONLINE (05/26/2013) [-]
Well yeah, I guess. But mutant more refers to a certain organism that's evolved more than the rest of its kind.

I don't know if this is true or not but, supposedly everyone with blue eyes is from the same genetic mutation.

My father has grey eyes.

Of course, but at the beginning of times, everyone had brown eyes. Then one day someone was born with blue eyes, then reproduced. That means when someone is born, he/she has a tiny chance of having, say, pink eyes.

**** , everyone has a chance to have pinkeyes. But I'd advise against it.

but that's just putting what should be common knowledge in semi-unknown facts.
It's be like putting "Skin is made of cells" or "the sun is hot" or " ******* can't read". Everyone already knows.
