We should nuke the Vatican(not actually a part of Italy), westminster city in London (westminster os not a part of the UK either) and washington DC (which by chance is a seperate country from the US aswell) and further more all these countries have the cleopatra's needle standing there (the big ejyptian spire or obleisk ****) without these places the world would be a much better place, thats some tax dodging ilerminity **** right there

I realize that this idea is ridiculously stupid in the first point, and, chances are, you are just trolling. But in case you really believe it... Yes, the Vatican is separate from Italy, but DC is in fact part of the United States of America, and Westminster city is in fact part of the UK...

Im just gonna say two things:
1. That has never been said by the catholic church, and not a long time ago, a regular guy would have been killed for heresy, imagine the pope

2. How he actually feels isn't really that clear. He's obviously better than the last one, and most, but he could just be feeding people what they want.

You see, this is a line that I disagree with. The fact that he declares this now gives proper Catholics no right to tell an atheist (That is a good human) they are going to hell and that they're an abomination. That's one less attack atheists have to deal with in their lives. That is a change atheists deserve, and it is a change that does affect them.

not joking, he actually said that.

and why was I thumbed down for stating a fact and being pro gay? I was only stating a fact that if he hates gays than he shouldnt be acknowledged fully. I am catholic but I have no problem with gays.

Right but most Catholics believe homosexuality is an abomination, so you would think that the catholic LEADER wouldn't be to fond of it. In fact aren't most Catholics called to follow the bible to the letter? Meaning not liking homosexuality? I mean gay bashing and not liking homosexuality are two different things. But he is doing things and pointing out things that Catholics should be doing. But that anti-anti-gay attitude is almost as bad as an anti-gay attitude.

Nothing in the bible says to hate the gays. It says its an abomination, but it doesnt really say how to treat them (at least I think thats true)

All I know is that the 2nd commandment is the only way the new Pope should be handling the gay situation. Love they neighbor as they self. If he isnt promoting that than he isnt promoting to followings of the bible.

Leviticus 18:22 - "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable."

Leviticus 20:13 - "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

Also this is the second commandment,
"You shall not make for yourself an idol" under the Philonic division used by Hellenistic Jews, Greek Orthodox and Protestants except Lutherans.
"You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol" under the Talmudic division of the third-century Jewish Talmud.
"Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain" under the Augustinian division used by Roman Catholics and Lutherans.

Now, what you are referring to is the teachings of jesus, which is the most important in almost all christian sects. However, he says to love thy neighbor, not agree with what they do.

I think maybe you should just look at all of the recent news about him.

He refuses to live in the Papal Apartments because they're lavish, he refused to take most of the Papl Titles because its ridiculous and is only officially referred to as the Bishop of Rome, he asked all Italian bishops to cut out trying to treat the church like a business and rise through the ranks and instead just do good, he continuously states that doing good is all that matters, he's a former chemist who has officially stated that the church has to be on better terms with science and at least allow for a meaningful exchange, as well as calling people out on hypocrisy and saying that the gap between what people say and do is undermining the churches credibility. He even continually refers to fundamentalism as a negative side of religion.

Seriously, look it up. This guy's got his **** together.
