I'm a simple man. I have a zune for music and a nokia brick.. thing for making basic calls. It just works better for me, and I can drop both of them and not worry too much about them breaking. Unlimited music is pretty nice too.

I didn't imply that people didn't know it was supposed to be funny, although you could draw that conclusion from my second sentence. I was merely pointing out that it is from the Onion.

It's essentially because they made an absolute useless product that's way worse than what we already had then proceeded to market it as the next big thing. Kinda like Apple did.

why do they call it the xbox one? Because when you see it you turn one degrees, accidentally step on it and end up having to pay several hundred dollars to replace it.

I like bing, but only because of their rewards system. I get about $10 a month in amazon gift cards, which I end up using for purchases anyway.

Besides, if I really need to find something, I can just google it.

Reward system?
I would like to know more about this, may you please elaborate?

Bing Rewards. You accumulate points by just doing searches, up to 30 ish a day (which, as internet users, is very easy to do, just make bing your default search in the omnibar), and can cash them out for various gift cards/MS points/charity donations.

It's a pretty neat system actually. With more use, you go up reward "tiers", and end up saving money.

Basically, Microsoft pays you to use Bing. And honestly, for 90% of the things that I google, Bing gets me to the same place. There really isn't that much of a difference in quality.

Wow, I think I'll start using bing now.
What's stopping me from searching the same thing 30 times a day?

Absolutely nothing. There are bing rewards bots (very easily accessible, ironically, by searching bing for them), that are hosted on an independent web page. The web page has Bing embedded into it, and just cycles random searches (**** like Xyjtan) really quickly to get you the quota for the day. Takes about 5 seconds.

And yeah, it's nice. I made it to gold status in just over a month, and pick up a free starbucks or amazon gift card every now and then. It's a nice little treat for just using the internet.

Create an account and start searching?

That's it really. The facebook sign-in is honestly fine, they never post about it on your page or anything. They just use it for their social search data, which displays info if any of your friends have posted about something (Ex: I look up Antico's Pizza and one of my friends made a message saying it sucks, that would display on my bing search results).

But if you don't want to deal with that, just go through Bing Rewards, make/use an MS account, start searching and that's about it. They have some tours that give you points for looking at them too.

Cool, how long does it usually take before you can cash in for something around $10?

Uh it's rather slow progress to be perfectly honest. Maybe about $10 a month...depends on what type of rewards you want to buy though. You can get some higher level rewards quickly ($15 to an online flower shop is relatively cheap compared to Amazon, I used that for Valentine's day). Really, I just do it because it's $10 I wouldn't get googling...it's not like it takes any extra effort. Might as well do it if it's there, ya know?

You two should send in this conversation to Microsoft. Maybe they'll hire you both for an ad-campaign.

No, seriously. I'm thinking about switching to bing now.

A similar thing happened to me when I was 10. I was doing a presentation on the president and tried to go to whitehouse.com needless to say it was definitely not the same as whitehouse.gov (for those of you who go to look it up it doesn't exist anymore)
