Sometimes I want to care enough to have a best friend. I have a ton of semi-friends, but no one I can really call a best friend.
Can I call the internet my best friend?
#14 to #2 - John Cena (05/20/2013) [-]
No.
User avatar #18 to #2 - hudis ONLINE (05/20/2013) [-]
I'm in the same boat, but probably care even less. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Just really introverted and I'm comfortable with that, and it sounds like you aren't exactly desperate for affection either.

Eh, friendship only truly comes when you click with someone. It's not about how much effort you put into a relationship, it's whether or not you connect with eachother as a person.

I had a ton of people who put a lot of effort into getting to know me, they asked me to go do things with them and talked to me when they were feeling sad. But I only truly knew what a best friend is when I met the people who I hang out with now.

I found them all playing DS, and instead of sucking up to eachother and me they were all brutally honest, we could sit in silence for hours without it being awkward. They don't judge me or mind my faults, and I don't mind theirs. We never have sob sessions "Oh anon my parents are divorcing life is so hard". Instead it was all about enjoying eachother's company

Some people "care" more than others. When the day comes when you really connect with someone, they'll probably be just as apathetic as you. friendships don't have to be serious
#31 to #2 - John Cena (05/20/2013) [-]
Sometimes best friends aren't so great. You build them up to be someone special in your head, and you start to think of them as somehow more than everyone else. You trust them and you rely on them and sometimes that's fine. But sometimes, something goes wrong and you turn around and realise that they were never anything more than just another person, and that if you ever meant anything to them, you don't anymore.

Mine had a mental illness which caused her to be depressed, attention seeking and lash out, physically and verbally, at everyone around her. I've tried so hard to be there for her, but I can't take it anymore. I ... gave up. I hate myself for giving up, I hate her, I hate myself for hating her. I hate the human brain.

Basically? Best friends are more trouble than they're worth. Caring hurts

Women...

But seriosly, I think that what you just described happens more to women than men. I've seen this happen between several BFF-girls quite like how you described, but never ever between tight bros. It may be because women depend more on each other, and tell each other everything. Bros on the other hand generally don't talk about feelings, but more about stuff, and it makes them less fearful of losing each other.

I guess ... she and I were never like "girly BFF"s, we were more the girls in the back making fun of the girls with the high pitched giggles and never talking about emotions and stuff (which I guess is where it went wrong). I HAD someone I suppose you could call a bro, but she got in the way of that. Meh

A bro connects on what they like. They're buddies that have so much in common that truly are bonded.

It's not just about having a lot of good times togethers

While I think social skills off the internet are important, you can't really disregard the people you meet online either.

I mean, think about it. You can talk to someone on the other side of the world, broaden your views, all that stuff, through people you met online. To an extent, they can be considered a "friend".
#216 to #2 - linktheherooftime (05/20/2013) [-]
I don't have many friends, and the ones I do I don't really hang out with. I usually can get by, but sometimes I just sit down and cry.

I don't usually treat the internet seriously but I will in this case. You'll find someone bro. As stupid as it sounds, one day you will just find someone who you click with, happened to me at university.

yeah... *ahem* uhh.. f-faggot...?

I remember back in the 10th grade in Chinese class when I heard my friend say that I was his best friend, during a presentation.

I felt guilty for not feeling the same way.
I semi-friendzoned him.

There was a port a time ago that explained that the expression "Took an arrow to the knee" was an old nordic slang for getting married. You know, from the game Skyrim.

>Didn't have enough money to put dog through surgery.
>Probably have to put her down.
>Two days ago, mom loaned me money for surgery.
>Surgery scheduled for Monday, telling dog she'll be alright, I was going to take care of her, make the pain go away.
>Later that day, I went to store.
>While out, dog's colon ruptured.
>Found her dead, on her doggy bed, with her favorite toy.

Looked like he was about to cry in the gif.
I thought it was a completely different scenario where a cop pulls up when he's at his friends death site or something.

Still made me laugh though.

you know what?

i severely doubt that death takes any pleasure in his work.

yes he gets to see the dead off and help them accept the fact that they're dead.

but he also has to see the sorrow of those left behind.
