Imagine if you could bring a modern car back to that time. **** , you could bring a 1985 volvo 240 with 200k miles on it and you would still be like a super hero.

Except it would get stuck on the first street ****** pot-holed muddy street (which was every street). Then all the old vintage machines would putt on by, climbing every obstacle with their 50 inch wheels on tyres that dont go flat....... you would need to take modern roads back with you.... Or a dirt bike!

Or a lifted truck.

I once saw this drag race between a normal stock-standard 2003 honda accord, and a E-type jaguar (also built to factory specs) on a quarter mile, and the honda beat it by almost a few seconds.

Tryed to find the vid but it's old so no luck.

Without roads and **** . What I wonder is... how did the cops even measure the speed?
User avatar #19 to #12 - baaltomekk (05/20/2013) [-]
They walked besides it and the moment they weren't able to keep up without sweating, they fined him.

I don´t find this that strange. If they were the only ones that had cars they probably were playing around with them or racing together and that´s why they crashed into each other.
User avatar #4 - Silver Quantum ONLINE (05/20/2013) [-]
even the average walking speed is 3mph. so according to that sign, anyone who starts walking fast should be fined.
User avatar #54 to #4 - debramster (05/20/2013) [-]
You can't fine people for speed who are on foot, they aren't drivers.

Yes i'm fun at parties

The first documented drunk driving was a Londonian cab driver, driving intoxicated.

The first documented death from being driven over by a drunk driver was a young boy, he was hit by a Londonian cab driver, driving intoxicated.

So you could say he was killed by an alcohol.

You've got to remember the braking distances involved. Drum or disk brakes didn't exist. It was the same layout as a Railway engine or a Wagon, A large pad clamping down on the rim of the wheel.... now that's grand on a 2-8-0 engine, with metal blocks on metal rims along the lenght of a 1000 ton train, but on the car it was a padded leather block on a wooden rim....that's insanity. It's like Clarkson driving the Model T even with drum brakes it was the most dangerous thing he's ever driven.....

Remember people: it is not the speed that kills, it's suddenly becoming stationary that does.

Thanks gravity
#82 to #72 - obligatoryusername (05/20/2013) [-]
It isn't gravity (well in some cases), exactly.

I'm pretty sure its inertia.
#84 to #71 - fukyu (05/20/2013) [-]
are you sure speed can't kill?
User avatar #47 - LtMcG ONLINE (05/20/2013) [-]
If you were driving 2mph, it would take 30 min just to go one mile. If you're going 8mph it would take 7 and half min. That's a big difference. I don't blame him for going that speed.
