The Principality of Sealand was originally a floating ocean fort to prevent German aircraft from having free access to lay out mines. Seeing as it was in international waters it technically belonged to no nation. After its abandonment, a crazy pirate radio broadcaster by the name of Major Patty Roy Bates claimed the platform as his own nation and even came up with his own flag, passports, currency, and national anthem. The micro nation even had a Coup d'état where the nations "Prime Minister" hired mercenaries to capture the towers and kidnap Bates' son. The rebellion was crushed, but it also resulted in Germany recognizing the countries existence. Since then Sealand has been part of a lot of financial schemes and scandals, and is still considered one of the leading micronations

You are so full of ****, I can make a methane plant out of you. Sealand is not an official country and has never been part of financial schemes and scandals.

"Sealand is not currently officially recognized by any established sovereign state."

Germany has not recognized it, nor has the UK.

Its off the coast of the UK. They tried suing them for back taxes and the case went to their supreme court. The court ruled that it was officially outside their jurisdiction and an independent nation. Also, I think that the Dutch recognized it after the coup too. That makes three recognitions of sovereignty

I tried to do the election quest for that place, but somewhere down the line I ****** it up. In the end, the election was decided by my assault rifle.

And then 'Merica will march in and declare war so they can harvest their resources, but will eventually change their reason into wanting to help Sealand achieve democracy.
And after they've done that, they'll drop a nuclear bomb on them.

This small island is called Migingo, about 500 people live on it. The island has it's own restaurants, church, bars, a cinema (room with chairs and a TV) and it even has a brothel.

Let me guess, their main method of substanance is fishing. But then, if it's in the middle of Lake Victoria, as Carthusia claims, they could just go to the mainland for food.

I am very bad at spelling. Always have been, always will. I'm just astounded that it took so long for somebody to finally correct me.

Its population is actually 131 according to a 2009 census, and its size is about half the size of a football pitch.

400 people in 3 years on such a small island, seem unlikely.

The text on page 17 reads:

"Some 500 people call the rocky outcrop of Migingo their home... etc"

Photo's were taken from my ******* appalling webcam, sorry for their quality, I hope we can clear up the fact that I'm not just pulling these numbers out of thin air =)

Pirate Bay tried to buy Sealand so that they did not have to obey some copyright laws. I totally saw it on the internet so it must be true.
