Gordon Ramsey in this episode is hilarious. I just watched it earlier today, what with all this content about her appearing and all. He doesn't ever get super mad or freak out because she does all the freaking out for him. She wears him down fast. He just looks tired and perplexed the whole show.

He looks genuinely upset that he's just trying to tell this woman the truth, and help them run the resteraunt better; not only for themselves, but for the staff and customer - but she just isn't listening... With EA, the issue is exploiting and trying to milk customers as much as possible. With A&F, it's simply not wanting to associate their brand with fat people.
#164 to #63 - anon (05/18/2013) [-]
Last time I checked, A&F doesn't ask full price for a product then contact you one month after the purchase and ask for an additional $10 if you want the sleeves.

t-shirt = $10 to $20
A&F t-shirt = $30+
User avatar #298 to #290 - thatguywhohasbacon ONLINE (05/18/2013) [-]
You're paying for a logo, it's not uncommon, plus A&F clothing didn't become popular for no reason, they do tend to be higher quality (not saying one way or the other if the quality alone justifies the price of some of their products). Also, their men's t-shirts start at about 15$ and go up to only about 40$ at most with graphics. A plain t-shirt from them will only cost you about an average of 20-30$.
User avatar #299 to #298 - rockamekishiko ONLINE (05/18/2013) [-]
it doesn't get higher quality than good 100% cotton shirt; quality of a shirt only goes to a certain point, they just double the threads and sand their shirts so they are fuzzier(softer)
User avatar #301 to #299 - thatguywhohasbacon ONLINE (05/18/2013) [-]
Durability alone doesn't equal quality in clothing. Durability, comfort and looks are what determine the quality of clothing.
User avatar #302 to #301 - rockamekishiko ONLINE (05/18/2013) [-]
i'm just saying they shouldn't be so expensive. i've had a nike shirt for about 4 years and it is still good. i think it was like 15 bucks
User avatar #310 to #302 - thatguywhohasbacon ONLINE (05/18/2013) [-]
They're overpriced but as I said, you pay for a logo. Hollister for example is owned by A&F, it's a cheaper alternative (albeit targeted towards teens more than anything) made with the same standards as the parent company's clothing but without the same logo, those shirts cost 30$ a the top of the chart, most of them are about 15-20$.
User avatar #77 to #63 - mattseven (05/18/2013) [-]
That's because people of FJ don't shop at A&F, that's why they're not concerned.

How the **** do you have so many thumbs? I completely disagree with your comment, I think the guy is an inconsiderate scumbag and I don't see how that many people agree with you. A lot of people are born fat because it's in their genes, they were born with an endomorph body type. Sure, they could find a way to lose the weight but it would be ridiculously challenging. Other people just straight up like to eat, what's wrong with that? It might be unhealthy for them, but it's not hurting anyone else and they already have a huge amount of insecurity to deal with. This Abercrombie dude just shattered a bunch of people's self esteem and you're defending him. ******** .

Also, I'm 5'11 and weigh 135 so don't think I'm some overweight kid who's all butthurt.

I think his message was dickish, especially the way he said it. He said he only wants cool kids wearing his clothes, implying that fat people can't be cool. In my high school there were a couple guys who were fat and they knew it; they didn't try to hide it or sugarcoat it (pardon the pun). They were hilarious and actually made fun of their fatness and everyone loved em anyway

User avatar #171 to #40 - guymandude (05/18/2013) [-]
though he did say both fat people and ugly people shouldn't be in his clothes. It's not just something people are inferring. In fact I believe I remember him saying something about facial symmetry.

Also he is specifically against people of certain income levels being able to purchase A&F clothes. In fact he even kept his prices at their normal high level through the 2008 market crash, causing his potential customer base to decrease even further. His strategies haven't exactly resulted in too much success either.

TL;DR he's definitely an asshole, just not for making clothes only for the physically fit.
User avatar #338 to #171 - trollwoopnazi (05/18/2013) [-]
It's a pretty good tactic in some ways (only making clothes for the slim and attractive) People will be more attracted to buying these over other high street clothes as others will know they had to meet a slim criteria to buy them

There is no actual evidence connecting weight to health. Take John Pinnette for example, the man is like 350 pounds and healthy as a horse. Being fat doesn't kill you, but the same things that cause fat (greasy/unhealthy junk food) can give you high cholesterol and diabetes; correlation =/= causation.

Oh I don't doubt that for a second. There are just a bunch of reasons for hating the A&F guy right now:
1. It's the popular thing right now. Just like with Kony, everyone is focusing their hate on one person while atrocities happen everywhere. At least there is a focus on something instead of complete ignorance.
2. He is publicly displaying his douchebaggery with pride. We all know there are tons of assholes in this world, but most at least keep it to themselves instead of flaunting it.
3. People like to laugh because of the irony. He is ugly as **** .
4. Also, it's Abercrombie and Fitch. It's not what millionaires wear. It's what upper-middle class teenagers think is cool. The owner thinks too highly of his own company. There are many "cooler" brands out there.
