How come there's no panel for "I can afford the CD but don't want to pay for it"

I often download whole discography of an artist I don't really know. If I like it, next time i'm in a record store , naturally I will buy an album by said artist. An album I probably wouldn't have bought in the first place.

ITT: people who have no idea how the music industry works
Pirating only hurts the record companies. Artists make absolute shit from CD and music sales, all their money comes from concerts and merchandise.

Now, for a long time I've been against pirating, but that changed recently. I found out that it is impossible to buy and download an HD movie on a PC. I searched for hours for one movie in HD in particular, and even ended up buying google play, but of course their "HD" version only works on android devices, and not PC's (it won't even let you stream in HD). Google did refund me thankfully. I do not understand why I am being punished for doing the right thing. So I'm done. Until I can get a full experience on PC downloads, I will be pirating movies.

There's a difference between potential profits and actual profits. Potentially I could make millions in casinos but I don't bitch when I don't.

I'll download it illegally first, but if I see a hard copy somewhere/I really like it I'll buy it

Music is higher quality on a CD

I downloaded music from an artist that i was just getting into.

Since then i've spent at least 60 dollars seeing that band in concert; more than enough to buy their entire discography and then some.

Yeah, i'm really killing their livelihood.

Don't know about you guys, but I can't STAND music that isn't the absolute highest of quality.

I used to pirate music, or buy a few songs I really liked for fucking $1.29 each.... Now I just use spotify though. Sounds 50x better. Anyone else?

besides the band makes most of their money from live shows. it's the record company that makes the most on record sales, unless it's and independent band

Glad to see you know what you're talking about.

Most adults that know anything about music would call metal music, asshat.

to me its cool if you download and then buy, but you have to buy. you cant be like "well ill download the song to see if i like it" and if you dont like it not download it. i dont think people on the internet understand how the basic principles of economics/business works. if you dont get money for something you are selling then youll go broke. its not necessarily a few people doing it thats bad its when mass amounts of people do it that makes it bad. imagine you have a lemonade stand, and youre selling it for 25 cents a cup. then theres a dude down the street that is supposed to be helping you sell the lemonade, but hes just giving it away. people are going to go for the free lemonade and all of the sudden you dont at least break even (which is bad for those of you that dont know) jesus sometimes i question the intelligence of people on the internet. this site specifically...
