Take Game of Thrones for example. I know it's not music, but bear with me here.
Speaking for myself and others, I can say that many people download the new episodes but buy everything legally as soon as it's availabe on bluray or DVD.

I often download whole discography of an artist I don't really know. If I like it, next time i'm in a record store , naturally I will buy an album by said artist. An album I probably wouldn't have bought in the first place.

ITT: people who have no idea how the music industry works
Pirating only hurts the record companies. Artists make absolute **** from CD and music sales, all their money comes from concerts and merchandise.

That "pay" is royalties from CD sales. Which depending on the size of band can mean as little as a couple cents per person.

Now, for a long time I've been against pirating, but that changed recently. I found out that it is impossible to buy and download an HD movie on a PC. I searched for hours for one movie in HD in particular, and even ended up buying google play, but of course their "HD" version only works on android devices, and not PC's (it won't even let you stream in HD). Google did refund me thankfully. I do not understand why I am being punished for doing the right thing. So I'm done. Until I can get a full experience on PC downloads, I will be pirating movies.

An example: Simcity 5.
If you pirate it, and crack it in a way that it belives your own computer is the server, you can save your data locally.
You can re-boot from an old save-file if something suddenly went ****, and you do not have any problems in logging in or losing your savefile or not getting it saved properly.
If you buy it legally, you may of may not have problems actually logging in, may or may not get your save rollbacked, not properly saved or even deleted, and may or may not have to log into a different server, loosing everything. You also won't be able to play even in singleplayer when the servers get shutdown, or are down for maintance.

It's an example for modern videogame pirating reasons.

I am personally only against piracy if you have access to funds to pay for a product, have the means to pay for it, and enjoy the product, yet refuse to pay for it.

That's called theft. What you do, however, is piracy because you have the funds, but not the means to pay for it. You are not a thief, in my opinion.

No, I have the means to pay for it, and I am completely willing to pay for a full product, the problem is I am not getting the full product. I do not pirate games, music, or tv shows for that reason (most TV shows allow HD downloads onto PC). And I would never pirate an indie.

the means to pay for it i mean both having the ability to pay (credit card, etc.) and the ability to receive the product (HD downloads for PC as you say) in return. Perhaps I should have phrased that better.
