It's sad but in this day and age comedians seem to be the only one's who like to look at things with a unbiased opinion, Well like half of them do, anyways.
#22 to #18 - Rascal (05/16/2013) [-]
Are you kidding (don't mean that to sound condescending)? Comedians are some of those biased ass-hats on the earth. and they're cowards. They say stuff to be edgy, and if it's received well, they're awesome, if people take offense, they hide behind "It was a joke, you just can't take a joke"
#23 to #22 - Rascal (05/16/2013) [-]

I don't see the problem, being an art teacher doesn't impeach you to be smart and aware about what happens in your country or in the world.
It's like saying "Knows how to make a sandwich, wont shut up about the last Game of Thrones episode" it's stupid.
#5 to #4 - winglit (05/16/2013) [-]
You are in a position of authority over other peoples children. A degree in Art doesnt make you stupid but it also doesnt give you the right to spout of your political opinion to children who have yet to learn their own, time paid for by the peoples taxes to teach Art to children should be spent teaching Art not teaching whatever views the teacher agrees with from the last debate, if you dont see a problem with children being taught politics by an Art teacher you obviously never disagreed with said sloppy fat cunt and got sent to the corner... ****** bitch... Yes Im very bitter towards my old Art teachers from when I was a kid!

Im also concerned for the youth of my country, your political views as an adult are influenced heavily by the people you meet as a child, and Art teachers dont have the right to talk about welfare to 10 year olds, because obviously the happy fairy tale world they often spout off about cant really exist but sure appeals to said little underdeveloped broken condom!
User avatar #6 to #5 - willcutting (05/16/2013) [-]
Oh to children yeah I'm alright with that I tought, you know in private life. In this case yeah I agree.
#7 to #6 - winglit (05/16/2013) [-]
I got sent to the corner a lot as a child... Im very bitter towards my old teachers, since you know all but 2 were so liberal you could almost feel the political correctness in the room, and I inherited my fathers conservative views... Libertarian now, soldier too... so many hours spent in the corner... see this turtle? hes looking back into the past... hes remembering the times he was sent to the corner because he didnt want to give all his money to the downtrodden... poor turtle
#9 to #7 - pineapplepeople (05/16/2013) [-]
I don't know what you did, but if they sent you to the corner solely for disagreeing with their beliefs, they need their teaching licenses revoked.

I don't see why art would be frowned upon, it takes genuine skill and it can be applied in concept art and there is an industry for it. More so, to be artistic means something, taking black and white photos of your sandwich doesn't. Photography is something that can be dismissed entirely but come on.
#17 to #3 - ragingflamingos (05/16/2013) [-]
I would disagree with the second point. Yes, it is true that basic digital photography is so easy that a trained chimp could perform it. However once you throw traditional film into the mix, photo shopping or higher level composition, it actually becomes much more difficult.
#58 to #17 - Rascal (05/16/2013) [-]
Yes...and no. Even digital can be hard sometimes. There's really advanced ,hard and very timeconsuming techniques in digital especially in landscapes. Personally I don't get why people think that its easy for photographers with "new fancy automatic cameras".

I honestly....don't understand this. I never really had an art teacher that was politically active. If they were, they kept it to themselves.

Not that I would care one way or the apparently every 12-year-old on this site seems to, like they know politics. I'm a poli-sci major, even I don't understand it sometimes!

Well I can see where she'd come from when there is a senate and house primarily composed of men who are trying to play "what's best" with her ovaries.

Also, the most popular form of higher education is a liberal arts education, which means that they learn about a multitude of topics.

#42 to #35 - urbemarmis (05/16/2013) [-]
with her ovaries? no....whats best for the human life thats inside her stomach. yeah im starting this conversation. if its not a live human why is it than when someone kills a woman who was only pregnant for a month or two its a double murder? why is it that a miscarriage is when the baby dies in the mothers womb? if it wasnt a live human how could it die? if its not a live human then why can the mother hear the baby's heart beating when it first starts? i have no problem with abortion in cases of rape, but i hate it when girls act like its strictly a girl problem. what happens when they guy doesnt want the kid? hes just lumped with it and all of the expenses. what happens if the guy wants the kid? well the guy is looked at like a dick for saying how he doesnt want her to get an abortion. if the dad leaves its up to the girl. if she is raped its up to the girl, but if the father is still present then it should be an equal choice between the two.
User avatar #46 to #42 - wersand ONLINE (05/16/2013) [-]
"Best for the human life inside her stomach..."
And my thought goes like this, it's her body, and if it can't live on it's own, then it's her choice.
Also, I do think it sucks that the man doesn't have a choice but he's not inconvenienced at all if she chooses not to keep it.
And another thing, abortions happen if they are legal or not. I'd rather my future children to have access to clean methods than going to man with a coat hanger.
#55 to #42 - Rascal (05/16/2013) [-]
Embryos do not gain sentient thought until a specific point. They do not even develop a brain early, on, they are a clump of cells. Abortions are done before they change from a group of cells into a living being. Even if you're religious, at what point does God give out a soul? Probably not when it's just a rudimentary set of cells.

So what people are really speaking about when they talk about 'a human life' being in a woman's stomach, they are talking about the CHANCE of a human life forming. There is a CHANCE that this will become a human

And so by the logic of someone who wishes to prevent abortions, you would have to make masturbation illegal. Because each ejaculation is killing and ruining as many starts to human lives as abortion is. Each sperm has the chance to become a human. The lives of millions are splattered on a tissue, women would have to be forced to stop having periods, every egg that dies is a person that won't be born.

Life is more than just what happens after sex
User avatar #44 to #35 - reginleif (05/16/2013) [-]
I can see where she comes from myself, seeing as there's a senate and house probably out for her JOB. xD

I'm going into graphic design as a major. I currently have a job in multimedia services while attending school at the same time. I also have to drive there in a car that I own. But art as a degree, that's just ******* stupid. It's one thing to have a skill, it's another to be able to apply it to something

Because they choose to get a stupid degree instead of something more useful. They shouldn't be supported, make a better decision and you wont be made fun of. Don't be stupid and get an art degree. Ever heard of the term starving artist? There are millions of other art graduates out there that are just as good if not better than someone else. Millions.
#74 to #71 - infernis has deleted their comment [-]
#75 to #74 - Rascal (05/16/2013) [-]
Because they're being unrealistic. Keep it as a hobby that's fine and the smart thing to do. People have hobbies. Some people like taking pictures but they don't become a photographer, they get a real job. Telling someone you can be anything you want is what you say to small children until they realize the truth and enter the real world. You wont become anything you want to be, it's one of the biggest lies we tell kids. It's cute if you want to be an astronaut when you're 5, but when you're 30 and living in your moms basement still wanting to be one, it's just pathetic. They deserve to be made fun of for making the wrong life choices.
#77 to #75 - Rascal (05/16/2013) [-]
Are you seriously comparing Astronauts to Liberal Arts degrees? Becoming an Astronaut is not much more likely than becoming a filmstar. The degree has at least SOME realistic aspect to it.
#78 to #77 - Rascal (05/16/2013) [-]
You will never sell your paintings for millions of dollars. This is what most art graduates strive for, they don't want to be a 2nd grade art teacher. They want to become a famous artist and they never will be.
#79 to #78 - Rascal (05/16/2013) [-]
>This is what most art graduates strive for

I doubt that. If that would be the case, it would really be unrealistic tho.
#76 to #75 - infernis has deleted their comment [-]
#80 to #76 - Rascal (05/16/2013) [-]
Yes they do deserve to be made fun of. They wouldn't be if they made the right choices. Don't want to be made fun of? Don't be an idiot. Simple as that. Now about your picture, there is still a difference. It might not seem like a lot to you but for those kids who fit into that difference it matters a lot. Why even take that chance? It's not worth the risk. Also the pay... $13,000 is a lot.
#81 to #80 - infernis has deleted their comment [-]
#82 to #81 - Rascal (05/16/2013) [-]
But it's easier and better to make a living with another degree. Society decides if it's the wrong choice or not not me, and it is the wrong choice. Those people are idiots who thinks it's worth it. The smart thing to do is get a useful degree. They do not deserve respect, they deserve disrespect.
#84 to #82 - infernis has deleted their comment [-]
#85 to #84 - Rascal (05/17/2013) [-]
It's possible but much harder so it's not worth it. Go for the stable source of income instead of having to live paycheck to paycheck. They are idiots because what they think is wrong. That is what an idiot is, someone whose mind is stupid. Their thoughts aren't good. There are millions of other artists just as good if not better than them. So if the economy chooses it than do the economically smart thing and get a more useful degree.
#86 to #85 - infernis has deleted their comment [-]
#87 to #86 - Rascal (05/17/2013) [-]
They keep making the wrong decisions so they obviously need someone else to decide for them. They're wasting their time with that little hobby of theirs. That's all it is and ever should be, a hobby.

#89 to #88 - Rascal (05/17/2013) [-]
No it doesn't... holy **** you're an idiot. Right there on the graph it shows in plain ******* numbers that obviously you can't read 11% unemployment... the highest out of ANY of those other jobs. Arts = 11% unemployment. And i've already told you about the part under it with the numbers, $13000 is a lot of money to someone living paycheck to paycheck.
