What exactly is the big, creepy, empty missile silo part for?
#29 to #11 - anon (05/14/2013) [-]
I would fill it with some supplies, that doesn't spoil.

Storage. if you own this place during the apocalypse, you're going to want to store a LOT of stuff. You could also put in Botanical gardens and **** .

My first thought: He's gotta place some torches there, or creeps will spawn!

Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains.

technically; they couldn't hide.
they tried to hide out of fear fod God, but he found them anyways and banished them to hell for not accepting His Son.

ok.
try reading the "Left Behind" books.
User avatar #68 to #67 - thebigcjs (05/14/2013) [-]
why? are they supposed to show what happens to everyone that isn't christian? hmm, i can't say i'm particularly frightened seeing as they are self-confessed fiction books. same as the bible apart from the self-confessed part. you can't really scare an atheist with threats of something they don't believe exists so don't try.

User avatar #1 - barbwirepain (05/13/2013) [-]

I don't know about you guys but just having that huge empty space underneath me would freak me out.

I have no idea why, It's like....Some sort of height fear.

It's a good place to hide all the bodies.

#56 - Nameloc (05/14/2013) [-]
I recently purchased this online.

A 2 Person 3 day survival kit all packed into a backpack.
It comes with sleeping bags, body warmers, tents, a decent sized med-kit, water proof matches, etc.

When relating to being prepared for the Zombie apocalypse.
User avatar #61 to #56 - WHATTHEPISSTRAINE (05/14/2013) [-]
You were probably charged more than was actually worth it.. Here's a tip.. Find a decent backpack -actually better yet buy a military surplus used rucksack.. cheap and effective- go to the nearest hardware store/sporting goods store buy some emergency blankets sleeping bags dehydrated food some cheap canteens-used military is fine and cheap- some matches and a couple candles -dipping the matches in the wax waterproofs them for cheaper in bulk- when it comes to shelter yeah a tent is fine but its dead weight, learn what native people/ preindustrialization people would build as shelter in your area. saves need to carry extra weight
User avatar #63 to #61 - Nameloc (05/14/2013) [-]
Eh, for what it is, it's not bad for it's price. (Which is roughly $79)
Especially since a (decent) backpack alone is typically $50+, then you'd have to gather supplies to fit into it.

It's higher quality than the stupid 'Survival Kits' you'd find on Amazon, like this:
www.amazon.com/Gerber-31-000701-Grylls-Survival-Ul
User avatar #73 to #63 - WHATTHEPISSTRAINE (05/15/2013) [-]
ahhhhhhhh gotcha. yeah thats not horrible.. I personally gathered my own bug out bag with an old ruck and bout everything individually, including machete flairs torch lighter full first aid kit -well that was pre assembled though i added a tournaquet- along with that canned food freezdired food, and MRE type meals knives, small saws cordage and heater tabs. i plan on adding a .22 survival rifle in the next few months when i get the money saved
User avatar #74 to #73 - Nameloc (05/15/2013) [-]
That sounds like an awesome survival backpack.
How much would you say that all cost you? (Excluding the rifle, that'll make it jump a few hundred.)

I recently got a decent pocket knife. SOG's BladeLight.
Kinda practical and semi-useless for now.

When I get the chance I'll get a pistol to add to my survival kit. (Either that or some sort of a bolt action rifle.)
User avatar #75 to #74 - WHATTHEPISSTRAINE (05/16/2013) [-]
the ruck canteens pocket saws and knives and machete was generally cheap from garage sales, 5 to 10 bucks each just kinda bought over time
flairs are just road flairs was about 75$ for 30 or so at a hardware store nearby ( i only keep 15 packed away)
torchlighter was about 15 bucks but its refillable and i keep butane packed too
first aid kit was about 50 bucks but it came with a **** load of stuff
tournaquet isnt much more than a long rag and stick
i never kept track of all the food i got o-o its mostly just nonparishable foods
box of heater tabs was about 10 bucks
the matches were easy just matches and candle wax works great for water proofing.
User avatar #76 to #75 - Nameloc (05/16/2013) [-]
That sounds pretty awesome.
I might do that once I get enough money -- Assemble my own survival backpack.
However, the one I'll be getting in the mail soon can just be something to carry along in my car. More of a immediate thing, and leave the self-made one at home unless I'm going camping or something.
User avatar #77 to #76 - WHATTHEPISSTRAINE (05/16/2013) [-]
lol it would be a good start lol
#58 - camarors (05/14/2013) [-]
Where in the hell would you get your resources if you're surrounded? Just because it has a basement you can lock yourself in for 6 months doesn't mean it's apocalyptic proof.
User avatar #64 to #58 - Nameloc (05/14/2013) [-]
You could stock-pile the silo with preserved foods.
Assuming you had the 3mil to purchase the house...
User avatar #54 - muchasmarcos (05/14/2013) [-]
nah. i'm gonna buy my self an old military bunker in a rural area of croatia.
#40 - doddythechef (05/14/2013) [-]
But won't you just run out of food?
why is there never a farm built into there ???
#42 to #40 - teenytinyspider (05/14/2013) [-]
That's what I was thinking. There needs to be a sort of underground greenhouse there.
User avatar #43 to #42 - doddythechef (05/14/2013) [-]
exactly !
#44 to #43 - teenytinyspider (05/14/2013) [-]
It could work. I think there's a certain artificial light that gives plants what they need to grow and then just have filtered rain water or tap into a water source for watering needs.
User avatar #45 to #44 - doddythechef (05/14/2013) [-]
that our the use of our waste products to produce fertiliza
ammonia's are the best chemical for fertiliza which is what our piss is
#46 to #45 - teenytinyspider (05/14/2013) [-]
Yeah but there's too much of a certain chemical, nitro was it?

The problem with using waste products is too much of that chemical.
User avatar #47 to #46 - doddythechef (05/14/2013) [-]
we release very little nitrogen so actually its not too bad
nitrogen is rather good for the plants in certain quantities but terrible or fish life
#48 to #47 - teenytinyspider (05/14/2013) [-]
That's another idea. An underwater aquarium for meat supply.

You and I should go into building apocalyptic safe-houses lol
User avatar #49 to #48 - doddythechef (05/14/2013) [-]
dude my safe houses would be awesome
i living in a village that can be easily boarded with a wall
and there 2 good fertile parks and we have good rainfall

or ill just get a sailing boat on live on the sea or head to easter islands
#51 to #49 - teenytinyspider (05/14/2013) [-]
See, I'm not so lucky, but I live in tornado alley in the United States, so we're used to having to bunker underground. Just need to turn one of said cellars/basements into an underground safe-house.
User avatar #53 to #51 - doddythechef (05/14/2013) [-]
see that silo would be perfect for a nuclear fallout shelter
if nuclear winter set in over here i would be done for
#39 - mastercolossus (05/14/2013) [-]
