Are you talking about The Emperor of Nihon-Ja or The Lost Stories? I guess The Lost Stories is technically the last last, but it does wrap up things in a nice way AND gives the origin stories for Halt and Will.

Oh, and the author is writing a new series set in Skandia, ya know. I have no idea if we'll see the cast of Ranger's Apprentice again, but it would be freaking awesome if we did.

get a kindle and you can read in the dark, and has an on demand dictionary, best thing I've ever purchased
User avatar #67 to #8 - whycanticaps (05/13/2013) [-]
I don't trust those things because I remember hearing about a guy who bought one of those, had a huge collection of books on it, and then lost it all after Amazon decided to pull them. something about how when you buy these things online, you aren't buying them, you are more or less renting them.

Per our Conditions of Use which state in part: and its affiliates reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, remove or edit content, or cancel orders at their sole discretion.

#241 to #67 - captaindropkik (05/14/2013) [-]
as would I, but then you could argue that the idea of a kindle is to have books to read and not to store them, it's easy to fall into the trap of just seeing a cheap book you're mildly interested in and buying it but never reading it

I do agree though it is a bit sketchy, but I've had not a single issue yet!
User avatar #9 to #8 - thegamerslife (05/13/2013) [-]
Yes, get a kindle, so you can only access one online book store and have a modded android OS...

Be smart, don't be a retard. Get a tablet with a legit vanilla version of Android and you get "Google books", "nook" app, and "kindle reader". also not limited to the **** stock internet browser they have.
User avatar #13 to #9 - colector (05/13/2013) [-]
One slight problem with that is tablets strain the **** out of your eyes while e-ink based book readers do not.
User avatar #17 to #13 - thegamerslife (05/13/2013) [-]
I smell buyers remorse! :D

That is why book apps have a "invert color" type feature, making it white letter on black background for reading at night easy, no stress.

You can keep your e-ink, I like being able to control my PC from out of town. :P
User avatar #18 to #17 - colector (05/13/2013) [-]
Nope, i never owned a book reader, i was just given one at my last job and found it better for reading than my laptop or the tablet i had before it. Then again i prefer reading actual books whenever possible.

I care not either way. I live in a state with a crap ton of trees, and efficient damn giving us electricity (doesn't stop them from raising the price every three months though).

Side note about the damn. last year, over 12 months, they raised the prices by 42% and since they have a monopoly on the power, we have no choice but to keep paying them...only thing i hate about this region honestly. :P done bitching.

You want something to read books -> get a tablet? wut?

Any e-book reader >>> tablet

not only tablet wont last you **** without charging, but you will kill your eye sight by looking at the screen for hours (pretty sure reading hurts your eyes the most)

I have both, a kindle paperwhite and a tablet and reading books on the tablet is the dumbest thing you could possibly do.

Or, you know, download ebooks in whatever format and just convert them, then put them on the kindle. I've got 700 books on mine and the battery lasts me a month. It's fair to say that's better than a tablet could offer me.
#243 to #9 - captaindropkik (05/14/2013) [-]
but I get an e-reader to read books and not another portal to the internet that I already struggle to escape from, I just want something that let's me hold onto a few books that I can read and have a little built in dictionary, I'm not trying to out do anyone or make a social comment, it's just an ideal bit of technology for what I want
User avatar #244 to #243 - thegamerslife (05/14/2013) [-]
I've never understood the struggle of internet addiction personally, so Your point sounds valid to me. I hardly use the tablet for internet as it is anyways.
Games = PC
Internet = PC at home, Android phone on the go
Books = PC or tablet at home, and Android phone on the go.
Having a tablet is kinda void for me now but I still enjoy it from time to time for bigger pages, text, etc.

That's my whole set up and with the phone, honestly I don't even really need the tablet anymore. lol. oh well, my fiance uses more than I do and she seems to get use out of it now and doesn't even pick up her Nook anymore...I don't even think we know where it the end I think you are right, there is probably a niche group of people who are just find with ereaders, I am not one though.
#194 to #9 - anon (05/13/2013) [-]
You are right, however, as far as functionality goes for JUST reading books, a regular kindle would last longer battery wise and the library isn't as hemorrhaged as you think.
User avatar #232 to #194 - thegamerslife (05/14/2013) [-]
But it is lacking. on my tablet I prefer the kindle app and thus buy the majority of my books from there, BUT I have run into situations where they did not have the books I wanted and I had to use google books. (also my friends kindle was used to looked for it, so it wasn't like a things where you had to have a kindle to get it.)

God you're a twat.

First of all, they're right. You can't determine the quality of something until you use it, no matter what reviews say. You can't say a movie is great just watching the trailers.

Secondly, how do you even know a writer or series is good? Oh, that's ******* right, by reading previous material! At one point you had to DISCOVER the book. You didn't know if you'd like it - you took a chance.

Third, I love reading (good) books. But even the greatest book I've ever read I'm not going to read a second time. Why? I just don't want to. It's my personal choice. Not everyone reads a book over and over, just like not everyone watches a movie over and over.
