By all means, England, feel free to take the "arrogant nationalist" stereotype from us at any time. We've got more than enough stereotypes as it is.
#310 to #63 - anon (05/13/2013) [-]
The "all British people have bad teeth" stereotype is bad enough thanks.
User avatar #214 to #63 - fukkendragonite (05/13/2013) [-]
How about don't stereotype us and we don't stereotype you? I'm British and I'm not an arrogant nationalist, and I bet you're not a gun maniac redneck. See how this game works?

I get what you're saying, but that was a very contradictory thing you just said. If you don't like being stereotyped, then don't try to pass it onto us. You know that it's not true for your country, so why is it any more true for ours?

I recently returned from a 3-month trip to Europe that was mostly spent trying to tell people that Americans aren't inherently stupid.

I've lived in Britain, Spain, France and spent 2 years in America. Americans are not inherently stupid, but you have the largest proportion of ignorants (ignorants being people unaware of most things outside America).
Britain (particularly England / Wales) is better but still bad. Rest of Europe is generally pretty good.
#252 to #241 - anon (05/13/2013) [-]
America is the size of EU. The New York State alone is bigger then Austria. It is a world for itself. Now when you understand that we can move along.

I have not yet met anyone here in europe who can pin me the 10 biggest cities in the us on the map

how long did it take until you found out you where in Asia?
#175 to #43 - anon (05/13/2013) [-]
Sure US citizens aren't inherently stupid but on my trip there (New York) I discovered that the percentage of stupid people does seem higher but that's just an observation of a 15 days so it's still a personal experience. Also you guys have a ton of rednecks, hillbilly folk and other strange people with an internet connection, in Europe the weirdos don't have a PC so they attract less attention.
#185 to #175 - anon (05/13/2013) [-]
Liste pal. When on a trip you interact with more people. That's why you now think you know half of USA so you think you can judge. The truth is if you were actually to realise what being smart is, or at least like me strive towards it, you would never give such statements without strong evidence to back it up. Not only cause of that but also cause intelligence is relative.

Long story short: that's ********

that in itself is ignorant. If you don't want Europeans to judge Americans based on the stupid few people you have in your country, don't judge us the same way. Just saying.

how come everyone thinks this? i went through it and i feel like it was just fine, i learned a lot that helped me greatly in college... perhaps it was the high school i went to, or maybe its simply because i've never been schooled in another country so i dont know any better

We're getting pretty bad in Canada, too. In high school I lucked out because most of my teachers were very passionate about the subjects they were teaching. In college, though, **** college. Similar. I wanted to go to school for audio engineering, however the only decent course is $31,000 without school housing. That's actually pretty good, I'd say that pretty close to how good an average high school student in Finland knows (EU is more accurate of course)
I myself can draw the world map and put roughly 80% of worlds nations on it, what can I say, It's kinda interesting!
