Feminism has nothing to do with being beta. I live in the UK where you find feminists left, right and centre. These people think they deserve preferential treatment just because they are female or, even worse, they insult you for doing stuff out of courtesy for them because "they don't need no man" to do things for them.

Incorrect. The founding belief of Feminism is the asinine concept of the Patriarchy; every aspect of modern society was designed by men for the purpose of inconveniencing and belittling women so that they can have all the power. Also, that all men are inherently sexist due to this process. It's absolutely ridiculous.

And don't say, "Oh, I'm a feminist but I don't believe that silly ********!" It's literally the CORE CONCEPT of the belief. Saying you're a feminist that doesn't believe in the patriarchy is like saying you're a Christian who doesn't believe in God or Jesus.

The term definitely leads to the presumption it's only focused on female issues, but that's because it evolved in a time when women were seriously repressed. It's been around since the Victorian ages, when women couldn't work when married, couldn't vote and didn't have any other way to express themselves. Nobody likes to hear it, but gender inequality is still a huge issue in every society. It's just the context and severity that differs.
Liberal feminism does focus on both sexes but the name is stupid. Equalists doesn't have the same tone to it, which is why it's barely used, but is a much more correct term.

Humanist is a different thing, you can have a Humanist marriage which is non-religious but celebrates the beauty of humanity, as well as funerals and other celebrations. It's getting quite popular in Scotland at the moment, where I'm from. I agree with Egalitarianism as a concept but it's not quite caught on. In college I am studying sociology amongst other subjects, and feminism is a key concept taught alongside marxism, functionalism and symbolic interactionism. It is an academic school of thought, regardless of the individuals opinion on the subject. They did try to change it to gender but struggled to find research that didn't class itself as feminist, due to the term being used for so long.

Humanism is a collection of philosophies and perspectives that basically say that humans are wonderful. Any complaints?
As such it's pretty easy to justify using humanist as a label when supporting human rights.
Much easier then trying to justify "feminism" as in "feminine" as supporting mens rights.

Here's my thing about feminism, and I say this as someone who is queer, Jewish and a few other things feminists say they support:

It's fine and ******* dandy to fight oppression inherent in the system (heh, couldn't help myself). In fact, go right ahead! There are a LOT of ****** up things about our society, and it doesn't JUST hurt men. Gender expectations hurt men, and so do the myths about rape. It hurts men to say that they can't control themselves because a woman is naked. That's saying they are nothing but mindless animals who can't think with anything besides their libido. Now, that doesn't mean men can play the victims about rape either. Instead, the rape culture needs to be overthrown. Just, **** that **** over there.

Moving on.

There was a poll done asking men what they are afraid of when it comes to women. Their answer was most commonly that they feared being rejected or humiliated. When women were asked the same thing, the answer was instead that they feared being raped. Now, that's a pretty ****** up thing. So when I hear guys QQ'ing online about how "most girls make it up", I want to shove a shiv up their penis. Until they've had someone force something into something that not only belongs to them, but is part of their body, against their will, they shouldn't talk about it like they know.

The fact is, yes, some women pull that ****, but it's so ******* rare that it's not even worth being brought up. Why diminish the pain and suffering of all the victims just to point out the few bad apples? I strongly suspect most of those men have had sex of questionable consent.

I don't really understand why it is that the whole rape thing has to be a joke or even be brought up as often as it is.

I got off topic, sorry. Basically, I agree with you.

The reason I think rape is viewed like that is because it's heard about often and all it takes is "he raped me" to ruin a guy's life whether he did it or not and that's too much power for some dumb bitch, who doesn't know what the sun is, to have. Sadly it does take away from the actual claims, but once it sticks, even if it's proven to be false later there is no getting off of that list. I had a friend who was with a girl for a period of time which resulted in an unplanned child. He didn't want to be committed to her (she was a crazy bitch who'd call over twenty times a day. every day) but said he'd be there to help out with the child. She constantly talked about just telling the cops he raped her if he didn't talk to her or do anything she wanted which finally ended when he had saved all her phone messages of her drunk and high crying to him about how she was hurting the baby like that because of him ignoring her. Something he had to threaten her with of how he could easily get absolute custody and just give the baby up to adoption and she'd never see it again. Terrible unjust things like that do happen and it ruins it all for everyone. We just can't have nice things, sadly.

Meanwhile, many of us are half a kilometer away, typing on their computer, complaining that they can't get a girlfriend. Come on, guys.

No, it's an over-exaggerated example of something that exists for the joke. No one REALLY expects a feminist to be like this, it's a way to laugh at the extremists.

You're the retard for taking an exaggerated joke seriously.

so...they´d be the equalists?

...But on a serious Note, that´s true, the name kinda goes against the basic idea of the movement. I don´t care if actual feminists use the name, but the FEMINISTS are a complete different matter.

Yep, women are all cunts, any girl who gets raped is asking for it because they're generally weaker and only here to get ****** by men, any woman who is successful in the workplace only got that way by acting like a man.

None of this would be true if they called themselves equalists or something, but while they're "feminists" they're all wrong and horrible, **** this entire movement for not changing a name they've had since 1872..

******* women.

The name and how many Feminists are presenting themselves show that they are only in the favor of women. They want to be better than all men.

You're throwing out ******** like

"if they were really about equal rights they wouldn't be called feminists"

Well they are about equal rights and they are called feminists. So shut up. Yes, there are a lot of stupid "kill all men" feminists but guess what, none of them are on this site.

Feminism really just boils down to believing men and women should be treated equally, if you have a problem with that then tackle it directly. Don't **** around with "NOOOOO IT MEANS THEY WANT TO OPPRESS MEN!" or "NOOOO THEIR NAME BETRAYS THEIR TRUE PURPOSE!"

"Feminism is mainly focused on women's issues, but because feminism seeks gender equality, bell hooks and other feminists have argued that men's liberation is a necessary part of feminism, and that men are also harmed by sexism and gender roles.[18]"
Don't make a generalized statement about a specific set of data. There are good feminists and crazy radical feminists. It's the same way with just about everything.

If that is the case then why have we never seen a feminist advocate for their daughters and 'sisters' to be forced to sign up for the draft? Or pay alimony or child support (or abolish that whole broken system)? Or condemn the laughter of other feminists when a woman cuts off her husband's penis because he was planning on divorcing her? Or take a stand against malicious false rape accusations? Or condemn other feminists for making the claim that all men are rapists and only lack in opportunity? Where are these feminists? Why don't you look up an article written by Evebitfirst about men and rape, that is a perfect example of today's feminism.

Oh I read it. Quite carefully. Why don't you look up the article? Come on what's the harm? All feminists love men right? Surely it most be a warm hearted poem about how wonderful men are and how misunderstood they are? But no, you won't, you're too willingly blind to the hatred of the very people you're defending. Your white knight complex is pathetic as it is outdated.

You know, that argument holds no water at all. I can give you two pretty big examples as to why. Let me sate this ironically just in case you miss the sarcasm:

"Oh you're totally right, what was I thinking? Of COURSE the vast majority of feminists are good wonderful women who genuinely care about true and actual equality! How could I have been so blind? You know what? You've really opened my eyes! I can see now that the KKK and the Nazis were totally just completely misunderstood by the hatred and bigotry of others. There were so many good people among them too and they truly cared about the rights and standings of blacks and Jews right along with themselves! How could I have missed that?"

Not all groups are misunderstood by people who see them in a negative light my ignorant friend.

I never once used the word "misunderstood" I never said the majority of feminists were good. Feminists didn't just sprout up recently. They got themselves the right to vote, the right to own land, so many things that they deserve. In my opinion the supreme court had it right when they said "separate is inherently unequal" so I don't believe we can have true equality unless you erase all the lines. (bathrooms and such) but I don't think that would word.
You're an idiot. Have a nice life.

You're too afraid to see the article. That's how they see all men, even their fooled, capitulated white knights like you. You seem to have me mistaken for someone who's anti-woman. I'm not, in fact I'm vigorously supportive of all forms of equality, which would you see if you actually read my first comment to you, and I do know that feminism started out as a healthy step towards equality, but if you refuse to see what it has become today then you deserve all of the hatred they have for you. Go and swallow their sweet and toxic lies. I'll take bitter truth over that any day.
