You may as well say he brought America and most of Europe out of a depression, too. The thing is, most of that was just a side effect, an accident. Wars tend to do that, and Hitler started the worst war in history.

although at the same time, he was foolish enough to believe he could conquer Europe through oppression and military strength, even though when the resulting order of things could in no way survive in the long-term, as the different cultures under repression would be in a constant state turmoil against the regime

The problem here being that Hitler wasn't an idiot. He appealed to the German masses; Justin Beiber just appeals to young and dumb girls.

Just a horrible person.

Actually, he made several fatal errors that definitely cost him the war, fortunately.

The bombings of Britain accomplished nothing other than drain large amounts of the Germans' resources, for example. He also failed to recognize that his alliance with Italy was a massive drain on resources; Mussolini invaded the Balkans and failed there, forcing Hitler to delay his invasion of the Soviet Union. This delay was just enough to cause winter to come along at the worst possible time for his armies during Operation Barbarossa.
Breaking his non-aggression pact with the Soviets is definitely the biggest mistake he made in the War, though. The amount of resources, both in terms of natural resources and manpower, crippled Germany's ability to fight off Operation Overlord, considering that fighting on two fronts is pretty much impossible when facing such large amounts of resistance.

He made quite a few other mistakes, but these examples should serve the purpose of showing that he was not quite a genius strategist. He was too idealistic and narrow-minded to realize that other people aren't pathetic compared to the Aryans--the Nazi ideology viewed Soviets as sub-humans and incapable of any significant resistance, and they ended up losing the war to them.

Sorry for the essay, but I get slightly irked when people say that Hitler was some sort of genius at waging war.

hitler was a terrible general but a good peoples person.

thou he did manage to snatch a win from stalin when he attacked russia(stalin himself acknowledged that hitler had won this round when he attacked soviet union) but this was only because stalin thought hitler to be a sensible logical person like he was(but it turned out hitler was a dreamer)

the bombing of britain wasnt that much his fault as the leader of luftwaffen promised he can destroy the resistance of great britanny if he was given time.

they have theorized that had hitler appointed someone else to run his army germanny would have won the second world war.

Ever read Mein Kampf? All he does is spill his hate towards Jews throughout the whole book, and it was published on 1925. So yes maybe following a moron blinded by hate isn't such a good idea. Then again I suppose most people were just looking for an escape goat to blame all their problems on.

Actually, although Hitler was a dick, he wasn't an idiot. He did study quite a lot of psychology. The ones that were the idiots were the ones blindly following him. The rest were just dicks as well (those who agreed with him).
#124 to #120 - anon (05/12/2013) [-]
Wouldn't say the people were idiotic. They were in deep **** following all the economic and political turmoil after World War 1. Hitler seemed like a guy with balls that could get **** done and made a lot of promises. He was a strong leader and that's exactly what the people wanted. A crisis is the perfect opportunity for radical extremists to gain influence as they usually have very clear and driven perspectives/ideas, which makes them come off as determined and willing to act. So the people weren't idiotic, just very desperate. It's not like Hitler said he was going to start a war and kill a ******** of people either in his campaigns.
User avatar #132 to #124 - spasticpuppet (05/12/2013) [-]

Hitler was a very intelligent man. I'm currently reading through Mein Kampf and some of his ideas are actually very interesting. And no the book is more about national socialism then racism.

I'm currently taking a class on the Holocaust and the teacher remarked early on in the class how Hitler was the "worlds biggest coward" for killing himself. Hitler was a hero of WW1, and he earned two iron crosses.

The amount of misinformation surrounding the Holocaust is astounding. And i am not talking about saying the whole thing didn't happen. I have been told that you were killed if you weren't blue eyed, and blond haired, That the Nazi's forcefully impregnated 13 year old girls, ect.
#6 - Weiner (05/12/2013) [-]
people who don't like bieber talk about him more than the 13 year old girls they make fun of
#122 - anon (05/12/2013) [-]
Neither Hitler or Justin Bieber could be considered an idiot.

Justin Bieber is an artist with his own image. I agree, I'm not a fan of him, but that's no reason to call him an idiot.

Hitler was not an idiot either in that he managed to get the entire german people to bend to his will, one of the most skilled liars and deceivers in history.

Comparing them is just dumb and very exaggerated. That entire post was just a stupid attempt at bashing Bieber and wasn't very funny.

Yeah, maybe I'm ranting but come on, seriously?
User avatar #146 to #122 - fishtacos (05/12/2013) [-]
You know what? **** red thumbs, I agree with you, anon. While I personally would hardly call Beiber an artist, he does make music that a certain narrow demographic enjoys and he makes a hell of a lot of money, so his intelligence is sort of irrelevant, seeing as its his music that people follow. As for Hitler, not only was he one of the most skilled liars and deceivers of history, he also completely revamped the German economy through militarization and the arms race with the UK and the Soviet Union, causing the country to escape the Great Depression that it caused and become one of the most powerful nations at the time. So while he was a truly evil, twisted, ****** up person, an idiot is one of the worst words to use to describe him.

1)comparison is ******* retarded
2)yes yes Hitler was clever but he did kill masses of people and invaded countries causing suffering, so people trying to justify him should an hero
3)why do people keep saying stuff about justin bieber? i for one dont even aknowlege his existence, little girls need him for entertainment and i dont think thats bad, hes not meant to attract us so why are we trying to "resist" his influence? ffs i remember when people just pretended they didnt know him for a while, that was so good.
4)anne frank would have been a belieber
User avatar #45 to #42 - secretdestroyers (05/12/2013) [-]
I never understood what he was talking about anyhoo. Like, if she were a kid growing up now would she be a belieber? Or if she was just generally alive today?

Because I severely doubt that an 84-year-old German chick would be into that kind of stuff! And even if she was a kid today, I'm still not sure if even German 13-year-olds are into bieber....maybe.
User avatar #46 to #45 - stanislaw (05/12/2013) [-]
it doesent really matter, i didnt hear about this retardation until the internet bought it to me, its like atheists who learn the bible inside out so that they can just hate on it. why dont they just not concern themselves with religion at all?
User avatar #55 to #46 - secretdestroyers (05/12/2013) [-]
I believe that's more of a 'know your enemy' type of thing. I mean, it is better to have legitimate reasons for hating on the religious rather than just bandwagon hatred, no?

I mean, I spent my life going to church every sunday, I was baptized, confirmed, all that jazz; I learned a lot about the Catholic faith and then decided I couldn't really swallow all of it. But, I got nothing against those who do....except for the .01% of them who use it to justify murder, war, bigotry, etc.
User avatar #58 to #55 - stanislaw (05/12/2013) [-]
eh, in a situation were you dont need to know your enemy- as if someone with another opinion to you is your enemy- its not really necessary and a drain on your time. but as u said you attended church then yeh i guess.
User avatar #60 to #58 - secretdestroyers (05/12/2013) [-]
Yeah, for the sake of making pointless arguments, it is unnecessary. But, I just knew because of how I was raised.

Also, I don't consider the catholic church to be my enemy! More like an ex-girlfriend I don't care to see too often!
User avatar #62 to #60 - stanislaw (05/12/2013) [-]
exactly, im just pissed off by atheists who learn the bible and insult Christianity. its like their religion is anti-Christianity and thats just retarded.
User avatar #127 to #62 - ilovehitler (05/12/2013) [-]
That's more antitheists. Atheists just don't believe in a deity, whereas antitheists will actively hate theism.

Though it can't be said that there are some cases when they are in the right. Theism should not be a factor in anything political, and it should not be asked what religion or lackthereof somebody is, it should not be in schools, unless they are specifically religious schools, and it should definitely not be in law.
