I've read about this. They dug so deep, they reached the outer parts of hell. They lowered a microphone into the hole, and heard screams of the damned. Since then all the scientists of the project converted to Christianity.

As much as I don't think this is all that correct, but I just think they didn't wanna add "And later the Federation of Russia".

Wish I had a link, it essentially says they stopped drilling once they heard voices and screams and such, and they thought they'd drilled into hell.

User avatar #149 to #148 - tireyhawnuyu (05/14/2013) [-]
Been working all day, only searched a bit. Mostly keywords. I found some hits, but nothing straight on. Soon as I have time I'll stop being a ****** and do a real search.

I'm a freelance mix engineer in Seattle, I do live and recording gigs, my more stable job is software and game testing in Redmond Washington
User avatar #152 to #151 - dvdfaust ONLINE (05/14/2013) [-]
That sounds pretty awesome, and explains the Scratch, heh. Lucky you, you're pretty much living out exactly what I want to do, stuff involving music and games while living in Washington state.
User avatar #153 to #152 - tireyhawnuyu (05/14/2013) [-]
I don't make a lo of money, but I'm pretty damn happy. Music is my life, so to be doing it on even a simi-professional level is a dream come true. Can't wait till I get enough together to get my music and post production degrees.

Just did a show off this board, its an Avid SC48, show before was off a Mackie Onyx 3280
User avatar #154 to #153 - dvdfaust ONLINE (05/14/2013) [-]
Well the happiness matters a hell of a lot more, and there's always that chance that at the next show, some record exec might hear your set, like it, and you'll be a star, you know? Where are you going to college?
#156 to #154 - tireyhawnuyu (05/14/2013) [-]
I'll be going to CRAS cras.edu

Studio gig I did a few months back:

I, um, haven't a clue what any of that is :U My relationship with recording technology is recording myself 5 to 10 times in Audacity, layering it, syncing up the tracks so I'm in time with myself, then deleting the whole thing because I'm a terrible person. This is... This looks like intense stuff.
#158 to #157 - tireyhawnuyu (05/14/2013) [-]
That pic is a recording and broadcast studio running a Digidesign D-Show Profile, a $46K digital mixing console used for a live and studio work. It splits into a ProTools HD 8 system for recording and mastering. The first console I showed was an Avid SC49 used for live events. Last picture, this one, is an old school Mackie Onyx 3280 analog desk with outboard rack gear and recording via CD output lol. With Digital I'm recording each track (each input) and an able to remix it all later, with the analog desk I was only able to record master output, since the multi-tracking of analog is much harder and very expensive and I didn't have huge Pro Tools HDX rack with lol.
User avatar #160 to #158 - dvdfaust ONLINE (05/14/2013) [-]
...Great googly moogly that's a lot of big words. Sorry, but almost all of that just sailed right over my head. All I can assume is you're recording tracks to CDs and mixing them manually later?
User avatar #161 to #160 - tireyhawnuyu (05/14/2013) [-]
With Analog I just took the main mix, what everyone was hearing and recorded. With Digital, every input, like when you recorded yourself, you recorded and input, For me I usually am using 48 inputs, with Digital, I can record each of the 498 inputs to a computer and basically have a virtual mixer and make a whole ton of changes later, make it better than the life mix.
User avatar #162 to #159 - dvdfaust ONLINE (05/14/2013) [-]
(comment limit reached)

So essentially you play back the main mix during a live show with whichever inputs you choose to layer over it in any way you'd like?
