Juan Itor

The Janitor on Scrubs was oniy supposed to
be on the show for one season, where it
would then be revealed that he just a
figment of J, D' S imagination. However, Bill
Lawrence realized that The Janitor was too
funny of a character to get rid of, so he was
signed on as a series regular. Not only that,
but Neil Flynn; the actor that played The
Janitor was considered to be so perfect in his
roii that Bill Lawrence stopped writing lines
for him in most of his scenes and instead told
him to say and do whatever he wanted.

Bonus Fact: If you watch the first season, you'll notice (or maybe you won't, I don't know) that the Janitor only talks to JD, which proves the whole "Figment of his imagination" plot point.

Then that just means that since it was towards the end of the season that they had already decided NOT to name him a figment of JD's imagination and established him as real by finally interacting with others.

He actually said he never could focus enough to read the whole script, so he'd have to improv most of his lines.
Plus, John C McGinley calls all of his friends girls names in real life, and really bonded with
Zach Braff, so he started calling him girls' names on set as well as off
#111 to #3 - rieskimo (05/11/2013) [-]
Can you just imagine being best buds with John C McGinley in real life?

yeah, that would be awesome.
User avatar #116 to #111 - TheSock (05/11/2013) [-]
it would be. Also, the thing he does where he touches his nose is a reference to some movie, meaning, don't worry. Cant remember the movie though.
User avatar #98 - rieskimo (05/11/2013) [-]
As much as it is a testament to Neil Flynn, that's kind of a ****** thing to do to the actor. Unless he got a writing credit and a bump in pay he is essentially working as a writer and actor for the price of an actor.

Still really cool, and as I said a real testament to Neil and his ability to entertain.
User avatar #99 to #98 - mmmilovemeth (05/11/2013) [-]
yeh I'm sure he was so hard done by as a regular actor on a popular TV show
User avatar #104 to #99 - rieskimo (05/11/2013) [-]
Judging by your tone, I'm assuming you were trying to say "I'm sure it's such a tragedy, him being a regular actor on a popular TV show".

First of all, can you imagine going to work and the boss just says "OK, just go to work, get stuff done" "OK, what would you like me to do?" "Oh no, that's for you to find out, just get work done!" Because that's essentially the showbiz version of this.

Just because they're actors on a popular TV show that doesn't mean that life just hits easy mode. They still have to work, most of the popular people that you see are extremely hard-working individuals. They got so big because they come when called upon and they do a full day's work, as well as they are talented in their field. Nobody wants to hire lazy people who you have to constantly push to have them do their job.

Acting isn't digging ditches but it still most definitely is work, the same applies to writing.

If that wasn't your intent, then I misread you.
#114 to #104 - verby (05/11/2013) [-]
But this is what actors live for. They are creative minds. I could imagine it being an actor's dream to actually be able to make a character do whatever it is he felt was right
