i'm Scottish very far away on my motherside like 8 generations back before they moved to the netherlands and indonesia
User avatar #39 to #34 - halotalim (05/10/2013) [-]
If you know the name just type in the name followed by 'tartan' into google search and do some research.

There are Irish Tartans as well as Scottish.
Also, If your in the same situation as me, you've got one side of your family Scottish and the other Irish, Im guessing your fathers side would be Irish since your last name is Irish and the woman takes the males family name. In that case, if you can't find any Irish tartan for your name, then its perfectly acceptable to use your mothers family name.

Pic related, its mine. The Clans crossed over from time to time as well (To avoid ****** up incest children) so there are links. My Tartan (O'Donnell) is also one of the MacDonald tartans.

There will be a tartan somewhere you belong to as long as you're from a celtic background.

Davids real last name is McDonald though. He just adopted Tennant because someone else had McDonald as a last name in a show or something. Don't remember the details.

Fun fact: John Barrowman actually decided to wear a kilt to his prom because of scottish heritage, but when he showed up at the door to his date, she rejected him (this was when he still liked girls.)

The hell was wrong with her?! My date joked about wearing a flame-patterned tux. At least I thought he was joking, until he showed up in it.
Did we still go to prom? **** yeah.
