FALSE
have none of you ever held a chainsaw?
you still have to hold a button/trigger down while cutting in order to keep the chain moving therefore nothing will happen to the person trying to start it that way

Chain brake might be loose or not working or the dead mans switch may be broken causing it to rev and start the chain so it is possible it could still move when started.

As much as i'd like such stupidity to result is sudden castration, it will most likely not be so. Usually when starting a chainsaw the chain itself barely moves unless you actually press the throttle (likely to prevent accidents like the one we see above)
#31 to #2 - spacelubber (05/10/2013) [-]
What if...

He is aware that the chain doesn't actually start with the engine?

Does that mean we're the ignorant fools for believing him to be a disease upon the intelligence of our species?
#11 to #2 - mysticninja (05/10/2013) [-]
We can only hope he's dumb enough to grab the throttle by accident.
#8 to #2 - anon (05/09/2013) [-]
I am petioning to have that changed. For the sake of our species. So when you go on next friday, vote YES on proposition 69.

Pretty sure the gentleman in the picture knows that.

I love how everyone immediately feels superior and that they are what darwin envisioned in the world after they see this picture.

I love this because all of those people are wrong, and the blade of the chainsaw isnt about to move.

Somebody has obviously never used a ******* chainsaw in their entire life you sheltered cunt.
User avatar #14 - ilovemyguns (05/10/2013) [-]
That only starts the motor, not the chain.
User avatar #19 to #14 - codyxvasco (05/10/2013) [-]
I don't care what it does, I'm never holding a chainsaw that close to my babymakers!
User avatar #21 to #19 - worldend (05/10/2013) [-]
you'll never hold a chainsaw anyway

I've used teeny chainsaws to chop up logs and the bodies, but nothing too big yet.
User avatar #10 - shadowm (05/09/2013) [-]
Silly dude, no safety glasses or hearing protection
#74 - skinless (05/10/2013) [-]
i thought you had to pull the trigger for the chain to move?...
#75 to #74 - RageGuyyourmom ONLINE (05/10/2013) [-]
While that may be true sticking something thats designed to cut next your balls is probably not a good idea, accidents do happen.
#78 to #75 - fabelousnagger (05/10/2013) [-]
that is why you need to hold both triggers so it not going to happen
#63 - katastrophelol (05/10/2013) [-]
the trigger only start the motor, to actually make the chain move you need to press 2 button. the first is a security mesure so you dont accidently press the second button which is the real starting button, its locked until you press the first one.
#70 - fabelousnagger (05/10/2013) [-]
Stihl chainsaw have 2 buttons for security grip (above and below the handle ) needed to be pressed or the chain on the blade will not go (incase of losing the grip ) this is common on every modern woodsman to most gardening equipment today

User avatar #69 - baditch (05/10/2013) [-]
The blade doesn't engage unless you squeeze the buttons on the handle. He's just starting the motor.

Lttle 'guy who does outdoor work-to-guys who don't' moment:

Although that ain't exactly the smartest decision he'll make, he'd be fine. When you start the motor, the chain doesn't just go; that would be a waste of fuel. You gotta put the belt on using the trigger if you want it to do it's job.

I know it's a joke, but I think people need to be a little educated as to avoid embarrassing moments. Freak-accidents can happen, and he's dumb for doing it that way, but not that dumb

this guy is not stupid... just pulling everyone's leg... there's a trigger or something (I'm not an expert on chainsaws) you have to pull to move the saw
User avatar #43 - WHATTHEPISSTRAINE (05/10/2013) [-]
most Chainsaws have a clutch that disengages the chain when the throttle is released.. so he'd be fine
#54 - weirddark (05/10/2013) [-]
On the upside, won't have to worry about him breeding.

this has be reposted several times... inb4 the man would be fine because chainsaws have a safety that prevents the blade from turning without gripping the handle.
