One thing that's always pissed me off is something like this:
Technology Impaired Person: "Hey, my X won't work [how I want it to], can you get it working?!?"
Me: "Sure"
Then for the next 5 or so minutes I **** around in the settings, actually reading every option and trying **** until it works.

So here's a tip:

All it takes is trial and error. The fastest way to learn anything.
If you're not willing to be care free and **** around, then you'll never be able to progress on your own.

I totally agree. That's how I fixed my computer when the monitor wouldn't work. For some reason the monitor wouldn't turn on in normal mode, but it would in safe mode. So I ****** around with save mode a bit and found how to back up my hard drive. It worked. Didn't take it to anybody, didn't ask for a tech genius, just did it on my own. I admit, it would have been quicker if I did take it to an expert, but then I wouldn't have know how to fix it if it happened again. Now I do.
