******* edgy le reddit internet activist atheist ******** . Pic related, the sort of ******* basement dwelling neckbeard who made that pic.

Christianity saved far more than it destroyed. After Rome fell the world would have fell back into tiny tribal city states surviving on subsistence agriculture without Christianity.
(and I'm an atheist.)

If Christianity hadn't been around, we probably would have lost much more than that. Once the Roman Empire fell, very few people could read and write. One of the very few groups of people that could were the Christian monks in their monasteries. Had it not been for them copying books and preserving knowledge, we would have been much worse off. I'm not saying Christians didn't try to stamp out a few things down the road, but they definitely saved more than they destroyed.

Except it was all because the fall of the roman empire and the rise of the barbarians. Christianity got us out of the dark ages. The first universities were started by the Catholic and all of the great renisanse figures were either christian or a part of the chruck. That pic always rustles my jimmies.Hard.

what binbunny said. after the fall of the roman empire, people were scrambling to find order. it wasn't a good time to live in for a number of reasons.
plus christianity continued, so the graph should technically curve up-down. not up-down-up.
