But, the chances of having a child with Downs Syndrome increase at age 30, so it would seem that having a child between 25 and 30 would be better.

My mom was 33 when she had me. I have mild ADHD, but that's hardly anything compared to down's, and apart from that I have no health issues whatsoever, great hearing, 20/20 vision, no allergies...and most of my friends and the people I know are like that.

I didn't say every kid born to a person 30+ was going to have Downs Syndrome, just the fact that the chance of it occurring is increased, one of my ex's had a child with Downs Syndrome at 25...

I didn't say you had to go out and have kids, just pointing out a statistical fact.

Congrats on being healthy, wasn't saying every child would be born with Downs Syndrome, just a higher percentage chance...

When the p53 gene malfunctions it causes cancer, therefore if you decoded the malfunctioning p53 gene and found out which proteins it produces that would appear on the cell membrane, then you could genetically engineer a virus to find those proteins and insert a functioning p53 gene, stopping the cancer.

Actually, there are numerous 'failsafe' genes that are known that can lead to cancer, and there are probably many more that we aren't even aware of yet.

or i could take healthy dna from that person, fuse it with the attena viruses, use its shell because of how perfectly shaped it is, and just reset it entirely.

it would replace it, reversing ALL mutation. it would spread slowly throughout the body, and stop cancetr boefore it happens, as well as repairing cells that have damaged telomiers, making them live longer, even mabye stopping the cell from regognising the hormone that causes cell death, causing practicly imortal cells, the ultimate desise that could never be cured, made by our own body, it would renew the cell regulary, making it immortal and non mutatable. death of old age and/or mutations would be wiped out. and yes i am aware of the moral outrage and overpopulation, but we can jump that hurdle when we come to it.

It increases in the 30s, but it is of most concern once the mother is age 40+. The chances of having a baby with down syndrome at age 40 becomes 1 in 100. It is perfectly fine to have a child in early to mid 30s.

agreed
I've read that the perfect age for a man's wife at marriage is half his age plus 7
So let's say that they got married, waited a year (because they're so financially stable) and then she got pregnant.
(33-7) * 2 = 52
Not even taking into account the nine months of pregnancy, The guy would be 70 by the time his kid was out of high school.
Want to know what else? I don't mind that MTV doesn't play music videos anymore because I really don't enjoy 95% of popular music anyways.

Where did you come up with the bit about relative ages for husbands and wives? Most of the parents of my friends are around the same age as each other. By that kind of math, I shouldn't be looking to date anyone under thirty and I'm not even finished my undergrad.

I commented this when the content was brand new hahah, good to see content (that ive never seen before) make it to the front page
anyways it's an older type of mentality I believe.....you know from the days of men providing and women running the household
Its in the book - The Man's Book: The Essential Guide For The Modern Man by Thomas Fink page. 45
"The most common rule of thumb for the ideal age of your bride at marriage is 1/2 your age + 7."
it goes on to say, "The formula adjusts for women's comparatively advanced emotional strength and matches the fertile period of a woman (14-45) to that of a man (14-76). Proponents suggest it also reduces the risk of later infidelity on the side of men."

dude, that's for calculation how big a difference before its creepy. Not perfect age.
you are 18 so 9+7= 16
25 so 12.5 + 7 = 19.5

Interestingly enough, one of my coworkers just had a kid, and his dad's wife, who is significantly younger just had a kid, and his dad will be 70 when the kid turns 18.
