I got my 3DS like a month ago and I was thinking of buying Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for it. I tried the demo but am not sure if it describes the whole experience of the game.

Is it worth buying?

Yep. MH3 and fire emblem alone make a 3ds an endless source of entertainment.

I'm not picking up Fire Emblem but I'm getting the Donkey Kong Country Returns for my birthday

I love this 3DS. I only have Pokemon Black, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Mario Kart 7 and Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D.

you should man, it's fantastic. Unlike other recent nintendo franchise iterations it adds an insane amount to the franchise and completely blows away every entry before it. It's the Ocarina of Time of Fire Emblem games.

The demo only shows a tiny part of one bit of the game. The actual game is 10x more fun.

I assumed that actually and the demo doesn't feel too replayable, but I'm going to go pick it up anyways considering that my birthday is in about 3 weeks and I'll be getting some birthday money hopefully.

the demo gives it no justice, it's glorious, but it is a time investment

I thought so, the demo didn't feel too great. Like there was no control scheme, I kinda had to figure everything out, and I only liked half the characters/weapons available. But it was nevertheless fun and looked like it had some great promise.

I will go grab it this week.

it's tutorial heavy in the early part, but it revs up quickly once it gets going. it's pretty much a game where every enemy is a boss fight.

Plus long tutorials don't bother me sometimes. Only if it is basically repeating the same thing over and over is when it bothers me and learning complex menus/stats can sometimes be annoying.
