I feel like this needs to be clarified. .. As a former rural citizen who has spent time amongst all these subgenres of hick, I can attest that this image is indeed accurate.

which ones drive the big trucks?
User avatar #120 to #99 - tehcashew (05/06/2013) [-]
That depends on the condition of the truck, they all drive "big" trucks but hillbillies have, for example, a sheet of plywood for the bed of the truck with snorkels and a train horn. Country generally only, at most, lift the truck with some bigger tires on them, Rednecks fall somewhere in between those 2 categories.

As a rural citizen with Appalachian roots, I can also attest to the accuracy of this picture.

I also will say that a hillbilly's understanding of English is greater than that of most urban citizens.

Actuallly, not only is agriculture hard and honest work, but it's what has allowed society to advance to this point. Much like ether as an anesthetic advanced medical science because doctors no longer had to go "HOLY **** HE'S SQUIRMING SAW FASTER WHAT THE **** ", agriculture stopped foraging ("WHERE THE **** IS THAT RABBIT SHEIT LOOK AT THIS ******* BERRY HOLY **** A LION GET IN THE CAR") and allowed us to dedicate our time to math, language, science, and other such niceties.

Backwoods/hillbilly. Hillbillies share similar customs to those of rednecks. They will typically have poorer hygiene than rednecks but are generally more friendly towards outsiders than the rednecks. Hillbillies often spend their leisure time playing with woodland critters and playing music. Rednecks usually spend their leisure time getting drunk and hunting. Now country people are at the top of this social hierarchy, they will usually make sure they are well groomed especially if entering an area of mixed populace and display many old mannerisms that have long ago been forgotten by others. Some of these are holding the door for others, when speaking to strangers they will often call them sir/ma'am, and pulling out the chair for women dining with them. Country people typically find work in farming and ranching.

a redneck is just someone who likes to hunt and fish. a ****** is any ignorant person. i love to hunt and fish and i wear camo every once in a while, but i dont want people lumping me in with the ignorant, bigoted, narrow minded ************* youre talking about. saying you hate all rednecks or all hillbillies or all of any group of people (except the wbc or something) is on par with hating all blacks, or all religious people, or all people from the middle east because you are just taking a few unrelated facts about them that they have in common with bad people and stereotyping them by it e.g. hobbies, skin color, name of the place they go on sundays etc.

******* can be white OR black. It's just more fun for white people to be rednecks or hicks.

Rednecks make drugs, ******* sell drugs.
******* get the smallest thing possible at a fast-food place, make a mess at THREE separate tables without saying anything, and NOT feed their baby. ******* come in with a pizza from somewhere else and chuck the box on TOP of your trash can.
The word even comes from "niger", meaning "dark, shady". No one wants to be a ****** .

no hillbilly's are white ******* , uneducated, no jobs, just **** around all the time and give southern people a bad name, rednecks have at least some education and have jobs, normally really nice people that just like to hunt and play in the mud but get lumped in with hillbilly's

I come from a county in Georgia with a population of about 28,000. I didn't live out in the sticks or anything, but I did live outside of the relatively small city. Redneck never seemed to be a term that really offended anyone because it was usually used as an all-encompassing term without spite. Most of us considered rednecks to be people who were country people that lived simply, liked to hunt and fish, and liked to have fun without spending money on high-end luxuries, or even improvised their own "luxuries". Hillbilly usually was aimed at rednecks that lived up in the hills like the folks in the Appalachians, Ozarks, or maybe even up north in the Catskills. The only really offensive terms I've ever understood would be hick or white/trailer trash.
