In Germany, this bridge was made so that the boatys, a sort of boats, could cross the river and don't get killed by the big boatys.

I must be psychotic but reading your post and seeing that picture made me go "D'awww".

you cant let a pretty face like that get turned to roadkill.
User avatar #24 to #19 - Milvath (05/06/2013) [-]
yet that pretty face will see crossing the road far less complicated than to walk over to the ecoduct, climb it, then cross it; instead, it'll turn into a volture's smoothie
User avatar #23 - yonyon ONLINE (05/06/2013) [-]
There are plenty of such bridges. We call them "ecoducts".
#73 - anon (05/06/2013) [-]
actually it has already save some money because "Falck" doesn't have to drive out and remove deer carcases from the road as often + it's a huge boost to infrastructure, so stop whining and learn how to economics.

I know it's cool to hate on these kinds of projects saying "all for a mouse/deer/goat/faggot". But the thing is, these types of conservancy efforts can really make a huge difference. Sometimes the predators we try to protect are necessary to keep herbivores in check, who would otherwise multiply out of control and devastate plants even some to the point of extinction.

It is a gross misrepresentation (most of the time) to say "all this for x" when x can be the very thing keeping your forests healthy, your ag products growing, or pests away.

EVERY ****** IN THIS THREAD JUST TAKING OP'S WORDS FOR TRUTH

THEY ARE MADE FOR BIGGER ANIMALS AS WELL, LIKE DEER.
DEER WHO WILL **** UP CARS AND HUMANS ON COLLISIONS.

DEER WHO DISLIKE HUMAN STENCH.
DEER WHO WILL, ONCE A SAFE "PATH" IS ALWAYS FOLLOW THE ODOR OF DEERKIND OVER THAT OF HUMANS, THUS USING THE BRIDGE ON EVERY CROSSING ONCE THE INITIAL HUMAN SMEEL OF CONSTRUCTION STOPS HANGING AROUND.

But that bridge.10/10 would cross myself.
#120 to #6 - anon (05/06/2013) [-]
I can confirm this, in fact a comedian (Anders Lund Madsen) made a sketch where he actually interviewed the guy responsible for the bridge and then the comedian said the following: "But there has been ONE recorded case..." *showed footage* "...wait, that is an ordinary mouse. Wait, another one is coming..:" *footage of a badger* "...hmmm... nope... AH here it is..." *footage of a wolf* "....aaah, not the one either..." *new footage of a rhino* "... ... ...okay forget it!"
#25 to #6 - longboarding (05/06/2013) [-]
It hasn't been recorded because the dormice is in the same genus as the vampire, and therefore possesses the trait of not showing up in mirrors or photography. The dormice is however, extremely talented in the literary arts, and has been documented in crossing the bridge several times.

it was not just built for freaking mice -.- it was built for animals in general, since that area in particular had alot of accidents where animals were killed, cars were wrecked and roadblocks happened... so they built ze bridge ;)

Animals aren't exactly known for their critical thinking skills.
There's going to be roadkill like 8 feet down from the crossing.
User avatar #8 - thepyras (05/06/2013) [-]
They build these without ever asking what is perhaps the most important question: How will the animals know where to cross?
User avatar #9 to #8 - godtherapist (05/06/2013) [-]
They will automatically take the safest way.
