The game portrayed in the GIF is Dark Souls. I think the GIF itself is from Norfolk Island, I didn't ask it yet.

Varg Vikernes. In 1991, he founded the one-man music project Burzum and became part of the early Norwegian black metal scene. In 1992, he took part in the arson of at least three Christian churches in Norway, along with other members of the scene. By early 1993, Vikernes had recorded four albums as Burzum and another with fellow black metal band Mayhem. When Mayhem guitarist Øystein 'Euronymous' Aarseth was stabbed to death in August that year, Vikernes was arrested and charged with the murder....

He's known for burning churches, it's a meme within the metal community.

Ok. THIS is kinda disgusting. Why would there people mutilate their own bodies because they listen to Slayer? Never seen anyone taking a knife to write "Mozart" on their skin. Come on guys, you say you're tired of being thought of as Satanists, yet you do that to yourselfes?
Also, I'm not hating on metal culture in any way, as I like to listen to metal too.

Bring them red thumbs, I'm not afraid to go down with my opinion.

Just sayin'

If you don't like blood and rotten flesh thrown in your face you can **** OFF!

Norwegian black metal is brutal.
User avatar #12 to #10 - jackabobbath (05/05/2013) [-]
who said we did not want to be called satanists not hating ya brah
#16 to #10 - John Cena (05/05/2013) [-]
Because they're ******* metal.
User avatar #11 to #10 - fhockeygirl (05/05/2013) [-]
it just kinda goes with the brutal nature of thrash metal.
its also for devotion purposes. like 'i love this band so much i'm carving them into my skin', similarly to how fans of rap get their favorite artist tattooed some place obscene. its a combination of shock value and 'look at my dedication'

the guy with 'slayer' carved into his head looks more like he was doing it for scarification purposes (its sorta like tattoos but instead they cut away skin to give scars in a formation in case you didn't know)

and i have seen people do this for other generas of music. not so much classical or pop but i've seen hardcore rap fans do it, punk fans too. its not just metal fans
#265 to #10 - John Cena (05/06/2013) [-]
Because they're THAT crazy. You don't see "Mozart" engraved in someone's skin because his music doesn't attract guys that do THAT to themselves.
#93 to #10 - John Cena (05/05/2013) [-]
just slayin'...
User avatar #309 - jakesir (05/06/2013) [-]
Good now maybe someone will finally have the balls to murder them at one of their protests.
#239 - zaggystirdust (05/05/2013) [-]
Some one gets a tattoo or shirt for something like Justin Bieber, Niki Manaj or any pop singer

"what a faggot, they should just kill themselves to get rid of all the idiots"

Someone carves a metal band into their skin

"that is so metal, he is the biggest bad ass ever! Respect!"

I'm lost...
User avatar #245 to #239 - animepsycchosecond (05/05/2013) [-]
It's all a matter of perspective
User avatar #306 to #239 - danielph (05/06/2013) [-]
If you are a true fan you don't just lose interest in them, my brother showed me Coheed and Cambria when I was 13. I am now 18 and own all their albums and listen to them daily.
#320 to #239 - John Cena (05/06/2013) [-]
When did he say that those fans were the biggest bad asses ever and deserve respect? It simply implied that those people are certainly more volatile and dangerous than others. ESPECIALLY someone who buys a t-shirt instead.
User avatar #243 to #239 - spedlock (05/05/2013) [-]
it has something to do with the fact that metal is hardcore well pop is soft i don't understand it but its still better than pop
User avatar #252 to #239 - flemsdfer (05/05/2013) [-]
I think the point of the post was that "would you mess with people crazy enough to cut their own heads open in name of a band?"
User avatar #258 to #252 - zaggystirdust (05/05/2013) [-]
I know that
but I still find the idea of grown adults doing something like that to be kinda silly
or anyone in general who will put a band on their skin or harm their body when their probably gonna forget or dislike it in the near future
User avatar #261 to #258 - flemsdfer (05/05/2013) [-]
Oh yeah it's definitely ****** up. Hell, cutting anything into your skin is ****** up.
